Chapter 3: Chapter 3: The Escape Plan

That night, snow fell beneath the Siberian plains. The moon hung high in the sky, and pale snowflakes danced and fluttered in the wind. The wind carried with it the fragrance and colors of pear blossoms, sweeping into the towers of Babylon.

The tower was cold and indifferent, oblivious to the secrets of the wind. No matter how storied the wind was, once it entered the tower, it only chilled the hearts of the children within.

The wind seemed to bring a revelation; from the depths of the unknown, a voice told you — you can go up.

Chase woke up from his sleep, sitting up carefully in bed, looking around warily, his face full of confusion.

What filial son axe?

You can act now. The murmurs from the dream broke free, with a slight difference from the previous ones.

Chase sat on the bed, alert. After a while, the voice did not reappear.

He checked the simulator panel and noticed the change in the talent "A Promise Worth a Thousand Gold (Gold)."

A Promise Worth a Thousand Gold (Gold): You attach great importance to the promises you make, sometimes valuing them even more than your life. You do not break promises unless you fall.

Note 1: You have become an anchor, establishing a connection with the world itself through intense emotions. Golden and transparent threads connect you with the world. An unknown existence will guide you in the direction until all the dust settles. (Due to the broad scope of the promise, the talent effect is somewhat weakened.)

Chase suddenly understood the situation.

This is the moment of birth! "Escaping from the Tower of Babylon: Chase's Redemption" proudly continues!

He tapped on the wall next door, waited for a moment, and received no response; the girl was probably asleep.

Chase took out the hidden identity card, carefully extended his hand, and placed the card in front of the identification device on the wall.

"Click!" The door opened. The sound was not loud, so it was unlikely to wake anyone else.

Chase walked out of the room, approached Sirin room, and repeated the process. After the door opened, he walked in slowly.

Inside the tower, one room generally accommodated two test subjects, but due to Bella's departure, Sirin hadn't been assigned a new roommate yet.

Looking at the sleeping girl on the bed, Chase couldn't help but smile. He gently shook Sirin awake.

"Mmm..." The girl murmured in her sleep.

Chase nudged her again, and Sirin slowly woke up. She opened her eyes, looking at Chase with a puzzled expression.

"Brother?" Sirin voice was soft, as if she wasn't fully awake.

"It's time to get up," Chase rubbed Sirin head and said.

"Mmm..." Sirin murmured again, finally fully waking up.

"Why is Brother here?" she asked, still confused.

"Sirin, we'll talk about that later. For now, we need to leave," Chase said.

"Huh? Leave?" Sirin was surprised.

Leave? How would they leave? In Sirin eyes, the entire tower seemed like a prison, an impenetrable wall. For kids like them, leaving here was nothing short of a fantasy.

"We don't have much time, Sirin. Let's go," Chase urged. "Follow me closely outside, and don't make any noise."

Sirin silently nodded, allowing Chase to lead her out. Though filled with questions, she didn't resist, trusting her brother.

The corridor was lit with eerie white lights, and the surroundings were eerily quiet. Footsteps echoed infinitely in this place, and with each step, Sirin was cautious, afraid that any sound might alert the researchers.

Feeling a bit dizzy, she couldn't fully grasp the situation. What was happening? Weren't they not allowed to wander around at night? Was her brother trying to escape with her?

Suddenly, Sirin recalled the cold stares of the researchers, the dark muzzles of guns, and the sharp needles glinting ominously. Her body began to tremble involuntarily.

At that moment, a hand rested on her head, familiarly stroking her hair. Sirin found her anxieties melting away, replaced by a peculiar sense of comfort.

"I know you have many questions, Sirin. Brother will tell you everything later. But for now, please trust me," Chase spoke gently.

"Okay, Sirin trusts Brother," she understood. It was a feeling called trust and reliance.

And so, Chase and Sirin smoothly walked out of the corridor, under the illumination of the bright white lights. They stealthily approached the control room on this floor.

The full name of the tower was the Babylon Laboratory, but due to its appearance resembling a tower, it was also called the Babylon Tower. The tower had 50 floors, with the bottom 20 floors dedicated to the energy area, each housing a reactor. The remaining 30 floors were divided into three research departments: Advanced Systems, Weapons, and Energy. Each floor had its control room to manage the situation.

Normally, when Chase exited his room, the control room should have detected it and immediately sent personnel to capture them. However, as they walked all the way here, there was no sign of researchers attempting to apprehend them. It seemed that the tower was unaware of their movements.

This phenomenon was strange but also expected.

In the midst of darkness, there is a predestined fate..." Chase murmured.

Without delving deep into his golden talent "A Promise Worth a Thousand Gold," before escaping the tower, every step Chase took felt like walking on thin ice. There was not much time or energy to waste.

"Brother?" The girl didn't catch Chase's words clearly, raising her head to look at him with confusion.

"It's nothing, just talking to myself," Chase shook his head. "Let's go."

The administrator of this floor's control room had a peculiar habit — he liked to drink.

Although Chase was unconscious at the time, his mind was unusually clear. He could hear what was being said outside and naturally overheard all the gossip among the researchers.

By a stroke of luck, Chase's actions coincided with the time when the control room administrator was heavily intoxicated.

Approaching the door of the control room, he gestured to Sirin to be silent, carefully took out a shard of glass, and, at an appropriate angle, observed the situation inside.

A man in a white coat was sprawled on an office chair, his posture lacking any aesthetic sense. In front of him was a computer screen that had gone dark, and several empty liquor bottles were scattered around.

He had been drinking quite a lot.

"Sirin, hide outside for now. Wait for my signal," Chase instructed, then gently opened the door, minimizing the sound. He quietly stepped inside.

The man seemed to be in a deep sleep, showing no signs of waking up. This eased Chase's mind a bit.

Approaching the control panel, he turned his head to look at the man in the chair. Judging that the man showed no signs of waking up yet, Chase began operating the control panel.

His talent "Hacker (Purple)" began to take effect, emitting a purple light. As soon as Chase touched the control panel, various professional hacker terms, protocol principles, and programming knowledge flashed in his mind. It was as if he were a seasoned expert in this field.

He swiftly infiltrated the system. The seemingly impregnable firewall of the Babylon Laboratory appeared paper-thin to Chase, easily pierced with a gentle poke.

Was it that the security system was too weak, or was this purple talent too strong?

Chase shook his head, pushing aside unnecessary thoughts, and focused on the task at hand. The man in the chair remained in a deep slumber, providing Chase with some relief.

If he were to wake up, it would be a bit troublesome. Although it was within Chase's capabilities to handle, it was better to have fewer complications in the jailbreak story, with a sudden turn of events rather than an accident.

Infiltrating the system, stealing permissions, covering access information, and replacing daily information — a series of operations were completed seamlessly.

After a thorough search, Chase successfully found the best way to break through from the weapons department of the tower.

[You have infiltrated the 'Tower's' weapons department and discovered the completed research of the God's Throne series weapons, as well as the experimental G-12 Tactical Mech. You decide to temporarily requisition these weapons.]

[Your actions have been smooth. By infiltrating Babylon Laboratory's database, you have obtained many confidential experimental data, which you save for later use as bargaining chips with Entropy.]

After a while, having completed everything, Chase turned and walked out of the control room, looking at the girl squatting by the wall and staring at him. He smiled and said:

"Sirin, let's go."

"Okay."

...

Boom!

A sudden loud noise echoed within the Babylon Tower. Whether it was researchers or test subjects, everyone was awakened by this tremendous sound.

The researchers hurriedly entered work mode, only to find that all systems were operating normally, and no anomalies were detected.

However, everyone heard that deafening noise; it couldn't be that everyone was experiencing auditory hallucinations.

But the system displayed that everything was normal.

In the researchers' confusion, the communication from the weapons department answered their questions.

"The prototype of the G-12 Tactical Mech is missing!"

The G-12 Tactical Mech prototype was a mech created by "Schicksal" to imitate the mechs of "Entropy." Although its performance was excellent, it still couldn't compare to "Entropy's" mechs of the same type. After all, "Entropy" had the industry's top talent.

However, this newly researched prototype, carrying the grand ideal of defeating "Entropy's" mechs, disappeared during the testing phase!

While the researchers were still astonished and dazed, the Advanced Systems department sent a communication as well:

"Two test subjects are missing!"

Before they could react, one communication after another followed.

"No abnormalities found in the surveillance footage!"

"Damn it, someone has invaded our system!"

The researchers inside the tower immediately busied themselves. Due to the antsy atmosphere, they hastily operated the system...
