Chapter 15: Sect Rules

[Name: Fu Shi

Quintessence: 52

Players: 4/10]

After two weeks and some extracurricular activities, I am now left with 52 quintessence.

There are also the beasts that Bi Yuan is killing in the midst of her bodyguarding duties which allows me to earn extra income. I didn't slack off either, as I progressively make my hunt for stronger beasts in my spare time.

I recall, at my immediate return, I also helped the little bunny in its class advancement as I have her land the last hits on some stronger beasts.

Since then, the bunny was able to decimate 1st stage beasts quite easily.

This is only for now though. As my player empire groms, it is crucial for me not to play favorites. Bi Yuan's advancement is simply her early-game advantage.

[Name: Bi Yuan | Class: Silver Paladin | Level 22 (2nd stage—Mind Enlightenment)]

I should really stop spoiling that rabbit.

Two weeks later when a certain trio arrived at my place, I then excitedly squandered my wealth as I intended.

[Ping! Used 3 quintessence. Acquired 3 players]

Nee Chen, Xiang Ya, and Lu Gao were dumbfounded as they stare at the system interface in front of them, trying to make sense of what is happening.

[Name: Nee Chen | (Class Advancement Available) | Level 10 (1st stage—Martial Tempering)]

[Name: Xiang Ya | Level 0]

[Name: Lu Gao | Level 0]

The interface in front of them is illusory in nature. They cannot be touched, however, it is still possible to interact with them. Nee Chen who has a 'Class Advancement' tag available to him 'thought' what is this 'tag' about. Exactly at that 'thought', an explanation was then offered to him by the system.

[Class Advancement- It means that you are now qualified to choose a 'class' in exchange for fulfilling certain prerequisites. Obtaining a class will allow you to gain special powers, arts, and stats.]

Nee Chen was speechless at the interface in front of him. He heard it 'talk' inside his head, with corresponding 'subtitles' written in his system interface under the 'logs' component.

To 'master' this system interface, the three of them must explore its functions!

For now, the only one able to receive a class would be Nee Chen since he is already in the Martial Tempering realm. The other two would start from level zero since they have no cultivation yet, but that doesn't mean that they are not eligible to benefit from the system.

Xiang Ya and Lu Gao only need to accrue 'Exp points' by doing quests and slaying beasts.

With Nee Chen's class advancement in thought, I contemplated the classes that will be the foundation of my player community. Finally, I decided on four classes.

Ping! -48 quintessence.

Ping! Created the classes: Warrior, Rogue, Mage, and Healer

[Warrior— a class that specializes in combative martial skills. Arts: Equip | Boost]

[Rogue— a class that specializes in tricky martial skills. Arts: Fade | Snatch]

[Mage— a class that specializes in combative martial spells. Arts: Force | Bind]

[Healer— a class that specializes in restorative martial spells. Arts: Barrier | Heal]

I definitely didn't think of these classes on the fly. I deliberated long enough about what the classes that my players shall be based on.

Finally, I have decided on Warrior, Rouge, Mage, and Healer.

These are the sacred 4 classes of RPG. The Paladin is an exclusive class I made for Bi Yuan since she is a weak little bunny, but these four classes? They would be the foundation of my player empire.

I know, giving Bi Yuan a unique class may seem favoritism, but in the far future, I was thinking of distributing more of these 'unique' classes through a fair competition of skills, luck, and comprehension.

I wonder… what would Nee Chen choose?

Anyhow, first and foremost, I have to explain to them what is happening.

"From now on, you three are members of the System's Providence Sect! I believe that you by coming here, means that you have already made the choice…"

I have already seen their resolute eyes. I am not a hypocrite who would suggest to them that revenge is wrong, and that living a peaceful life in the countryside would be the right thing to do.

No questions asked I accepted them with open arms.

"Please acknowledge me as your disciple!" Gathering his thoughts, Nee Chen kowtowed, three times, to me as per dictated by the rituals for discipleship.

Xiang Ya and Lu Gao copied Nee Chen though clumsily.

Nee Chen has done something similar when a passing carver, wandered into their village. The ritual for discipleship is too common an occurrence, so Xiang Ya and Lu Gao only thought of this as normal.

I was already cringing when I thought of creating my own Sect, but System's Providence Sect, really? Now that I am at the receiving end of a kowtow, something I didn't bargain for, I thought that it was too shameless of me to think so little of it… sheesh…

Old Fu Shi in my memories seems used to it….

It looks like this is something I have to get used to, someday.

I am not really sure about myself, but I am already here.

"I acknowledge you. But not as disciples…" I said these words with seriousness; I don't even know what to teach them! I don't have qi, and it is not like my quintessence can fix my Dantian, I have already tried!

Above and beyond, the Sect I envision will be rather different. There would be no disciples, elders, or guardians. There would only be me, the Game Master, and his players!

This way, I wouldn't stray too far from my original goal… my dream…

"Instead of disciples, become my champions instead!"

I have the means to make them strong, and that, I shall. Why stop being disciples when they can become masters that the world shall fear?

Discipleship? Just become my player, and you'll have a shortcut to becoming a legendary hero that this world will revere!

I continued to speak, guiding my champions-to-be.

"The illusory thing in front of you is called the system. Do you see this little bunny? Come here, Yuan'er" I called the little bunny, carrying her over my arms.

"Bi Yuan used to be an ordinary bunny, something way below the food chain. After giving it the system, it started to grow and gain intelligence. Now, it possesses the strength of a 2nd stage cultivator."

I pause, building suspense so that my word will sink into their minds.

"More than that, it now also possesses the potential of a sacred beast."

The three of them listened attentively. Though they don't have any idea what is a sacred beast, they are aware that it is something that they should be awed of.

A cultivator beast is either called demonic or sacred depending on the arts they developed. Nee Chen, Xiang Ya, and Lu Gao at least know what a demonic beast is given the troubles and dangers it has brought for merchants and villagers alike.

So 'sacred beast' doesn't sound too unfamiliar to them.

Nee Chen unconsciously touched his sheathed sword.

Xiang Ya intently gazed at the little bunny.

Lu Gao gritted his teeth, strength welling in his heart.

The three of them shared one thought— It is possible.

To become stronger!

To wield greater power!

"Now, hear the Sect rules!" I made my voice loud and clear as I levitate in the air with my Telekinesis. It is necessary I set up the proper mood so as to inspire awe in my players…

"Firstly, I shall be addressed as the Game Master, it's like a sect master. Meanwhile, address yourselves with your Game IDs or moniker as we perceive it. This is so that our sect members could differentiate their personal lives and responsibilities to the cultivation world!

"Secondly, we shall treat freedom with the utmost respect and propriety. Through the system, quests with equivalent rewards would be given. You can choose to accept or reject at your own discretion. Moreover, joining the Sect doesn't require you to sever your ties with your personal connections.

"Thirdly, responsibility. You have to take responsibility for the actions you took. No matter how many times you live, I won't tolerate you stepping into the freedom of others. Be responsible with the way you handle your power so that it won't consume you."

I said it all in one breath. I can't believe that I didn't even stutter one bit or cringe in shame as I make that Sect rules on the fly.

Well, it is a Sect, it needs Sect rules.

It wasn't thoughtless rambling though, as all of the things I said are sincere.

"That's all. You are free to do whatever you want to do." With these words, I turned around, carefully hiding my face if I am making any. I just want to be done with it already.

"Remember, the system will guide you, but in the end, it will be you who are choosing your own paths."

Nee Chen, Xiang Ya, and Lu Gao stared rather awkwardly at my fading silhouette.

The trio was filled with questions in their mind, but mostly revolved around one— 'Is this really a Sect?'

'And wait, what does he mean by no matter how many times you live???'
