Chapter 16- Her Past
"Jewel, can we talk after school today?" Ethan, her classmate, and a friend said this to her while they are going back to their classroom after lunch.
"Huh? What about it?" She asked, confused. If the guy wants to tell her something, he could say it now, why wait later.
But Ethan just looked at their other classmates who were together with them eating lunch.
"There's just something important that I want to tell you." He added.
Jewel also looked at her surroundings and realized it might be really important that he needed it to be kept a secret.
"Alright." She decided to agree.
"Let's meet at the Library." Ethan said and happily go ahead.
Jewel becomes puzzled again. Why meet there if they could just go there together.
And wouldn't it also be better if they could just talk in the classroom?
Jewel felt confused but just let it go.
Jewel was a high school student and Ethan was one of the closest classmates and friends she had.
Although she knows about what happened to her mother and father, but that doesn't made her deny all men. After all, not all men were the same. Just like how good of a man her brother is, she believes that there are other men out there that are also as good as him.
Then she meets Ethan, she was indeed right, because Ethan was such a gentleman and a funny man. Everyone likes him and she too has a bit of a crush on him.
But something unexpected happened. In the library, Ethan decided to confess his love to her.
Even though she did say that she doesn't define men as one, but being in a relationship with others was still a big question, even if that person was her crush, she's still not ready to be in a relationship yet.
She didn't know why but there's something inside her that was blocking her to do so. Or maybe, she was just affected by her mother's failed relationship.
Making her afraid of commitment.
So it happened, she ends up rejecting Ethan.
She thought it was fine because it was such a good and understanding man, that is what she thought but unexpected things happen.
Ethan force himself to her.
She was so shocked and hurt. She felt betrayed, the person she thought was different end up being the same as others. The same as those men who only want to have their way on a woman's body.
Isn't that just like how it happened to her mother? Her father got so drunk but still did it with a woman he doesn't love or even know, it's just more like, he just doesn't care who he did it with.
If it's not for the librarian who happened to come on time, then she would surely get forced on that day.
The librarian at first wanted to let it be known to her teacher but she didn't agree. If her homeroom teacher were to know about it, then her mother would surely also know what happened. But she doesn't want to cause trouble to her mother who has an illness at that time.
At the end of the day, aside from the people involved, only the librarian and the principal know what happened. She also did not do anything to Ethan after what happened, but he still got suspended and she also decided to change school.
Her mother was confused at first at her decision of changing school but she still managed to lie her way out without giving her mother any reason to doubt her decision.
"After that, I didn't hear anything about him anymore." Jewel said after her long story. She then looks at the person in front of her who was quietly listening to her story.
But what happened at that time still leaves a trauma to her, and because of what happened earlier, the memories at that time end up coming back to her.
They are now in her room. She was now on her bed, sitting while hugging her knees. And Lavor was in front of her who was sitting on a chair beside her bed. He was quietly listening to her story while staring at her.
She has now calmed down a bit from what happened earlier. But although her mind was calm, her body was still in a state of shock as her hands still can't help but tremble even now.
She looked at her hand and can't help but clinched it on the sheets to stop it from trembling. Then a hand was suddenly put on top of hers. She felt shocked at first and was about to take her hand but the hand on top of hers was holding it still.
She can't help but look at Lavor who was holding her hand. His face has no emotions and his eyes tell nothing. At this time, she can't really tell what this person was thinking.
She also didn't know why but earlier, her guts were telling her to trust this man. When he reaches his hand at that time, she suddenly felt relieved.
It was as if she was stuck in an unknown abyss and was saved by this person.
She really doesn't know what or how to explain these feelings that are starting to bloom inside her.
So at that time, she takes a step and reaches out to his hand, deciding to trust him, decided to trust someone again.
"It's okay, you're fine now. Don't worry, everything is going to be alright. I'm here." Lavor said while holding her hand.
She didn't know why but she indeed calms down after he said that, just like what happened earlier when he said the same words.
So she just let it be, putting her arm on top of her knees, she closed her eyes and feeling the hand on top of hers tighten.
