Chapter 1: Special "Talents"
A baby crying can be heard throughout the hospital room. A man with blond hair standing outside the door of the room can be see shifting anxiously. A nurse pops her head out.
"Mr. Ward, you can see the baby now."
His eyes lit up and rushed inside the room where a tired but pretty woman with dark hair and stormy grey eyes can be seen carrying a bundle of blankets. He immediately checks his wife to see if there is anything wrong but once he sees that everything looks fine he lays his eyes on his child.
"What's his name Marie?" he says softly.
"Nicholas Ward. I thought it would be nice to name him after your father...You like it much?" She asks hopefully.
With tears in his eyes, "Like it much? I can't think of a better bloody name!"
"Harris!" she scolds, "Don't be talking like that in front of our newly-born son! He's only a few minutes old and you're already cursing! You better behave yourself or else..." she lets the threat hang.
Harris Ward chuckles softly.
"Sorry dear but I just can't help it on this wonderful day. And I'll try to behave more in the future. No promises though."
Marie Ward just sighs in exasperation, "I just hope he has more of me in him than you. I don't know what I'll do if there's two of you running around in the house..."
He replies, "Don't you worry about that at all. I'll teach him the way my father tried to teach me the rules when I was young. I won't let him make the same mistakes I did when I young. He'll turn into a fine man in the future...I'll make sure of that."

Young Nicholas Ward is currently 6 years old right now. His mother is reading him an old book from her childhood.
"Can't we read something more interesting? I find the Star Wars series to be a much better read than this." yawned Nicholas while his Marie Ward had a steely look in her eyes.
"Nicholas Ward! This book was a literary masterpiece when I was a girl! The lessons you can learn from this book are leagues above that Star Wars series you talked about!" she lectured.
"BUT MOM! PLEASE CAN WE SWITCH BOOKS?" he complained and suddenly 3 books bonked his head. "OUCH! WHAT WAS THAT FOR MOM?!"
She sputtered, "That was definitely not me! You are not going to get out of reading this book if you are behaving this way!"
He exclaimed, "But I didn't do anything! The books just hit my head out of nowhere! It was like magic!"
"Do you really think magic is real?" she shouts, "HARRIS! COME HERE AND HELP ME FIGURE THIS PROBLEM OUT!"
"Alright, alright, what's the problem dear?" Harris asks.
"Your son is claiming that 'Magic' moved three books and hit him on the head. Convince him there is no such thing as magic and that he sounds ridiculous." she fumes.
He sighs, "Son, sadly there is no such thing as magic since the world is run by logic and science. You have to apologize to your mother for making unreasonable accusations."
Nicholas was confused at the scene before him. Why didn't his parents believe him? Why would he willingly want to be in trouble? Unfortunately, his 6 year old brain did the only thing logical.
"I'M TELLING THE TRUTH! MAGIC DID REALLY HAPPEN! YOU GUYS ARE UNFAIR!" he screams and then books start flying out of the shelves and dropping to the floor. "SEE? I TOLD YOU I'M NOT LYING!"
The Ward's faces were in shock. Harris Ward had a shadow pass over his face. In a deathly calm voice, he said "Calm down right now and go to your room Nicholas. Do not come out until I say so understand?"
Nicholas was shocked. He never heard his father like this before. Usually he was just a stern man that occasionally made jokes here and there.
"Understood?" Harris Ward said with the same tone.
"Okay Dad..." Nicholas replied meekly and went up to his room.
That day was only the start of these "talents".
