Chapter 24: 24. A Privilege Exclusive To Hufflepuff

[Congratulations to the host for successfully revealing the true nature of the Weasley twins and Hufflepuff model student Cedric.]

[As the host shows his 'talent' for the first time at Hogwarts, the points earned are doubled, and the points are +200.]

The auditorium was filled with dancing demons, and Dumbledore used magic to produce lyrics, allowing students to freely express themselves without musical accompaniment.

While Wayne appeared to be lip-syncing on the surface, his thoughts were spinning in his heart.

I just deceived the twins and Cedric and gained 200 points.

Even without an initial recharge, if the first doubling still amounts to 100 points.

It seems that after the system upgrade, earning points has become much easier.

Previously, Wayne only needed to defeat all his classmates to earn over a hundred points.

Indeed, Hogwarts is truly his blessed place.

If Wayne cheats the twins once, he will gain 100 points. If he cheats them once every three days, he will surely obtain one gold this year.

Wayne licked his lips and couldn't deny that it was tempting.

Fred and George, who were singing the school song to the tune of the "Funeral March," couldn't help but shudder, as if something terrible was watching them.

The abrupt ending of the school song brought tears to Dumbledore's eyes.

"This is the power of music. Okay, it's time for bed. Let's return to the dormitory."

The sorting ceremony had already concluded past eight o'clock, and after an hour of eating, Dumbledore instructed everyone to go to sleep.

The students hastily dispersed, while the prefects gathered the freshmen and led them back to the common room.

Cedric mingled among the freshman group.

"Wayne, how are you going to make it up to me?"

"I don't understand what you're talking about. Have a good night's rest."

Cedric laughed angrily, "Stop pretending. It must have been you who complained to Professor McGonagall."

"This is my first time being placed in solitary confinement."

"Well, what can I say? Thank you for giving Fred and George your first time?"

Wayne shrugged helplessly, "I didn't complain. Professor McGonagall was aware of it herself. If you don't believe me, you can ask Hannah or Susan."

The two girls were nearby and had been eavesdropping on their conversation. Susan nodded subconsciously when she was singled out.

Cedric realized something was amiss and asked the girls for details. His face turned pale upon hearing the truth.

"It's over. Professor McGonagall must be very angry with me. I still wanted to join her Transfiguration Club."

"Don't worry," Wayne reassured.

"With George and Fred, at best you'll be considered an accomplice. Professor McGonagall will forget about it in a few days."

Cedric fell silent, deciding then and there to never cross paths with Wayne again.

This kid may seem harmless to humans and animals, but he's got a devious streak.

The Hufflepuff common room is located in the school's basement, tucked away among a cluster of large barrels in the right corridor of the kitchen.

All you have to do is tap the second barrel in the middle of the second row, following the rhythm of Helga Hufflepuff, and the lid will rotate to reveal the passage.

Unlike Gryffindor, who has changeable passwords, and Ravenclaw, who must answer riddles each time they enter or exit, Hufflepuff has kept the same password since the founding of Hogwarts.

But even with such a simple password, no outsider has ever successfully entered the Hufflepuff Lounge. It's the only house with "face recognition," so to speak. If you're not a true Hufflepuff, the door won't open, and you'll be sprayed with an assortment of vinegar scents from the barrels, deterring any intruders.

Some say that many young wizards intentionally make mistakes when they're short on cash, and then sell their "vinegar" concoctions.

I can't fathom what unscrupulous stores would buy them. These vinegars have all sorts of flavors. It wouldn't bode well for their customers.

The prefects dutifully share this information and demonstrate it three times to the young wizards before finally permitting their entry into the lounge.

Squeezing through the passage, they find themselves in a spacious circular room.

The common room has a low ceiling, creating a cozy cabin-like atmosphere. Plants, both hanging and potted, are scattered throughout, lending a woodsy ambiance.

The soft floor is adorned with plush sofas and chairs.

Wayne is delighted by the entertainment environment he'll enjoy for the next seven years.

Despite being in the basement, the common room has windows, ensuring a sufficient amount of sunlight.

The prefect walks toward the fireplace, pointing to the portrait hanging above. It's a cheerful witch holding a golden cup.

"This is Ms. Helga Hufflepuff. Her kindness led her to take in many house elves and protect them from abuse and mistreatment."

"That's why Hufflepuff always receives special treatment in the kitchen. If you need anything, just head to the adjacent kitchen. Don't hesitate to ask the elves for assistance."

As the prefect speaks, a sense of pride fills their face.

This is a privilege exclusive to Hufflepuff.

"Your politeness may unintentionally make the elves feel as if they haven't done their job properly, causing them to blame themselves."

After the introduction, the remaining time is free for the students to enjoy. As expected of Hufflepuff, many seniors enthusiastically entertained the freshmen, offering snacks from various places to keep them entertained.

Wayne patiently answered the freshmen's questions and shared his own experiences.

He was also chatting with Cedric about the school stairs.

"You mustn't sleep in tomorrow. The stairs in the school constantly change. If you make the wrong step, you'll likely be late."

"It would be better if the dean or Professor Flitwick taught a course on it."

"But if you're late for Transfiguration or Potions..." Cedric shuddered and gave Wayne a longing look.

"It's no use just talking," Wayne said helplessly. "I don't know the rules of these ghost staircases."

"I have an idea," Cedric said after some thought. "The new students will receive their class schedules at breakfast. You come out early and I'll show you around beforehand."

Wayne gave a thumbs up.

You truly embody the Hufflepuff spirit, Cedric.

Your enthusiasm is commendable, and I'll make sure you stay safe during the Triwizard Tournament.

When the conversation grew more exciting, several prefects led the senior students to the kitchen, where they brought plenty of juice and hot water. It felt wonderful to relax and be taken care of.

Wayne couldn't help but admire his decision to attend this college.

As everyone started to feel sleepy, the lounge gradually emptied, and Wayne made his way to his dormitory through the round door.
