Chapter 9: chapter 9-Netero
He walked back to where the other participants were roasting their meats.
He sliced his meat up into thick slices, then roasted it over the fire and once it looked nice and succulent he began to construct a burger. With the meat he put lettuce,sliced tomatoes and cheese and then finished it with some salt, he then took a bite into the burger and tasted it.
"It doesn't even taste anywhere as good as Menchi's nen food" Adam said in a disappointed tone.
Adam, unlike other participants, didn't go up and present his food as he knew that his food was nowhere near the requirement Menchi had, so he just waited until the chairman came and sorted out this phase 2.

After rejecting many wrongly cooked pigs, Menchi looked around where the participants were cooking. She found many still cooking the whole pig at once and started to feel frustrated at their incompetence.
Some people even presented to her the pig with flowers around it to decorate the pig and another adding a flag on top. She was almost ready to disqualify everyone here.
"Can't anyone even prepare a simple pig" said a frustrated menchi
As she continued to look around she saw Adam, the man she met earlier, sitting and watching the other participants with a smile on his face while he was eating.
She stood up and started to walk towards this man she met earlier wanting to find out why he was just sitting there and not presenting his food.
As she drew nearer to Adam he began to notice that Menchi was walking towards him.
Adam used a cloth and wiped the crumbs from around his mouth, as he didnt want to appear as a sloth to her.
He stood up and looked Mechi in her eyes as she was now standing in front of him looking up into his eyes, as she was somewhat smaller than him.
"Why are you not presenting your food? '' Menchi stared at him with a puzzled look as she couldn understand this strange man in front of her.
"It's simple. I didn't think I could make anything up to your standards after tasting your food" Adam said with a wink at the end.
"Give it here" Menchi then took the burger out of Adam's hand and bit into it.
"Its not good, but it's better then all these stupid people's dishes here, who dont know how to prepare a simple dish. You pass" Menchi then threw the burger over to the fat man and he caught it right in his mouth, and swallowed it in one motion moving faster than anyone could expect from a man of his size.
He then stuck up a paddle with a circle on it with a smile on his face.
"You have passed the second phase" Menchi said before she turned around and walked back to her chair.
The other applicants seeing Adam pass with his burger also began to copy what he did by sticking their meats between two buns and adding their own things into it, like olives and pickles.
After this, Menchi's mood changed and she calmed down as she saw the applicants making proper food and so she relaxed her requirements.
After she tried the food the applicants prepared, half managed to pass the second phase.
With those who didn't pass complaining and getting ready to fight.
Some even started to shout "food hunters are not real hunters" and "you aren't qualified to be a hunter"
Just when Menchi started to get angry again a blimp with the symbol of the hunters emblem flew over them. An old man with a long white beard with the tip of it being black, a long white ponytail with a white kimono and blue stripes and a pair of geta with one tooth on the bottom (wooden sandals with small stilts) jumped down from the blimp and landed onto the ground, kicking up the sand and creating a large boom as he landed.
Adam knew that Netero appeared to be a helpless old man, but he was still surprisingly powerful and fit for his old age of over a hundred years old.
Adam, although he could somewhat sense the strength of people, could not feel a thing from this old man, who he knew to be Netero the chairman of the hunter association and the strongest known man. Even though he was getting old he still had unbelievable power.
As Adam saw the peak of humanity a flame lit in his eyes as he knew he had to surpass him. A passion to have the strength Netero had and more sparked in his mind. He wanted to go further than Netero ever did and he knew that to do that he first had to pass the hunters exam and build strength until he was strong enough to explore the dark continent.
Adam knew that it was full of danger, but danger also has opportunities to get more powerful than anyone could ever become. Adam also knew that the more danger a nen master faced, the more powerful he would become.
Netero, feeling the burning gaze on his back, turned around and looked at this young man. A smile grew on his face, while the sand was still in the air blocking Adam's view of this smiling Netero.
Then the sand began to settle and Netero began to say "I think you youngins need to calm down. Each of our hunters are qualified individuals, even our food hunters can be better than our blacklist hunters. They are the best of the best in their own fields and all have passed the hunters test which was just as challenging as this one has been and is going to be. They pursued their passion, whether that be food or strength" said Netero then glancing around the applicants and judging them, seeing some with a good potential.
He was quite happy with this batch of applicants and knew that quite a few would pass this time and be able to join the current team of hunters and shut up those who opposed his position using the lack of passing applicants as an excuse.
Netero then looked towards Menchi "It did come to my attention that you were not qualifying any applicants, so I set off to come here and help resolve this. However it seems that you have had a change of heart and have conducted a fair test, good work Menchi"
"Thank you chairman Netero"
"I figured that now I'm here and everything's already sorted out, I would help bring the applicants to the next exam site and see the future hunters this batch holds"
"Now everyone get onto the airship and we'll be going to the third phase"

As all the remaining applicants stood in front of Netero in the airship he began to talk, "I will now take the opportunity to introduce myself properly to the remaining 41 applicants, I am Netero the chairman of the selection committee for this year's hunter exam. It is a pleasure to meet all of you"
Then the weird green bean at the side spoke "and I am secretary Bean"
Netero then carried on talking after Bean introduced himself "I had originally planned to make my appearance during the exams final phase"
everyone hearing that felt intrigued at this old man's words, as he is their final examiner yet he is here early. Some speculated that their final exam might have already started from this, but Adam knew that it hadn't yet and the final exam is a one on one fight, which Adam is dreading in case he comes up against someone like Illumi or Hisoka.
"but well seeing as how I am already here I have to admit there is nothing I love more than this feeling of tension in the air, so I think I'll stick around for the remainder of the trip hahaha"
The bean then began talking again "we are scheduled to arrive at our destination tomorrow morning at eight o'clock exactly. You will find dinner waiting for you in the dining hall, you're also welcome to get some rest of course. You're even free to do as you please until we contact you. The evening is yours."
Adam decided to just find a private room in the airship and practice ten before he had to start fighting for his life once again.
