Chapter 19: The Obstacles
"Naa, why should I and why do you ask?"
I stammered.
"Lieing doesn't suit your face at all Clara. You are jealous of your sister. Aren't you?"
"I don't get you still"
"Of course you do. Aren't you ashamed denying your feelings for my brother?"
"Errhm... actually... I do. I do have interest in your brother"
"And I also like your sister"
"Wow! you do?"
"Yes I do. I just liked her the very moment I saw her"
"So it was love at first sight?"
"yhh"
"Same as my own"
"Oh really?"
"Then I must say, the both of us are really unlucky"
"Why do you say so? Don't be saying such things. Who knows maybe we might be the luckiest people very soon"
He smiled mischievously.
"What do you mean by saying that?"
"Think about it well. it's just a matter of team work"
"How?"
"Really,Are you this dumb?"
"Mind your speech please"
"You should not be bored over this small issue. Besides an enemy's enemy is not an enemy but a Friend"
"You nevermind"
"Okay now tell me, do you have any idea?"
"Erhm let me guess... I think I have a plan"
"And what is it about?"
"It's simple"
She began narrating how it would go.
" You just get closer to my sister only when you know that your brother would be coming over. Make it look like she's also interested. Just follow her around while I also do same to Max"
"And then?"
"And then very soon BOOM!"
"Wow! Fantastic! This is gorgeous!..."
Frank complimented Clara and she flushed.
"...You had all these talents and they were hidden"
Clara flushed the more.
"So deal?"
Max stretched a hand and Clara shaked.
"Deal"
She seconded.
As they agreed to work on the plan of separating Clodeth and Max, the two hunters became very close to each other. Their first plan backfired, and then followed. Every other one they made refused to successful.
THREE MONTHS LATER
Max decided to earn respect for Clodeth by getting her married. He passed on this wonderful message to Clara and Frank and as usual they faked smile and continued pretending to be happy for them.
"Congratulations sister, I'm happy for you"
Clara ran to hug her sister.
"Bro, all the best. Wishing you a successful marriage"
Frank hugged his brother and said. Within a short period of time, they were done making their invitation cards and all other arrangements. They were done with almost everything; wedding dress, food, decorations, and everything concerning their marriage. The coming Saturday would be their memorable day because they are going to get married.
Now, a day before Saturday that was Friday evening, and Clodeth had diarrhea. It was that severe. She and her would be husband looked confused, but later in the night, Max ordered medicines from Chicago and Clodeth was feeling okay after taking them. It was time for Clara and Frank to be disappointed.
Saturday was due and we were done with the engagement. Everything went on smoothly and it was simple like I insisted. It was time to go to church for the wedding ceremony when Max had a call. He was supposed to attend to an emergency surgery in the hospital. He refused to go because he was scared of leaving me behind and besides he had taken leave already so he didn't understand why they must call him to go and on his wedding day. I convinced him to get prepared and leave.
"But my princess..."
"Shh just go. It's human life we are talking about here"
"And what about you?"
"Don't think about me I will be okay. I will wait for you even when it takes you a decade to return"
"Okay my princess. But know that I am doing this only because of you"
He said and left.
As we all waited for him to return, we had messages from an unknown number. It was
"Watch out for a nice surprising gift" We wondered who could that be and what the surprise was.
