Chapter 122: Quick Visit (Part 1)
My father didn't play around with those two houses for our guests. He finished them in a matter of a few days, and they came complete with all necessary stuff. My mother also helped out to make the quilts, cushions and covers. I, on the other hand, focused on my own stuff, as well as the Hal Wshtar.
Frosty didn't look like a good teacher, but in fact he was really great. I didn't understand many things, but he never got angry. Each time he carefully explained the words, pronunciations and whatnot, even a few times when necessary.
Me and my brother got really familiar too. He even followed me around some of the time, shouting "An An" because he couldn't catch up. Curly made herself at home as well. She got used to her new home, and even made a few new friends. Even Tara visited us again, but she didn't bring Teri with her that time.
Once she heard the news of us getting that quick travel Formation, her jaw almost dropped to the ground. "That's so unfair…", she complained. "My mother is paying for this, you know? Besides, look over there. Two new houses were built by my father, to accommodate our guests. I will be able to take part in this project, and it's right next to my home. This feels like a dream come true".
Though she was a bit salty, she was also happy for us. The return of my father changed a lot for our family, and thankfully not for worse. He was there, with my mother, my brother and me. That in itself was priceless, incomparable to any project concerning Formations. "Anyway, where's Teri? You broke up already?", I teased her.
"Heh, says a woman who has no one. Grow up, Anna", she fired back, but then added, "He's busy today, and I had some time to spare before my next journey. That's why I'm here to be honest. Remember about our little business? I was wondering whether you'd like to continue that?". "Oh right. This completely escaped my mind. I have the items ready… For over two years now. Let me get them for you", I replied.
After handing all the items back to Tara, I told her about my future plans. "I don't actually mind continuing with this. My mother is a master tailor and that's how she earned money. I want to become a Formation master, so earning money that way isn't such a bad idea. Moreover, this will allow me to get better at control of my energy, and Rune drawing. Yea, we can continue this, if you want".
"Alright then. I don't really mind, since this doesn't require too much time from me, and some additional money once in a while will come useful I'm sure. Especially now, since I have a boyfriend, hehe", she replied a bit too smugly. "By the way, do you want to come with me? We can visit Dawn while we're at it, and you can check out the Grand Stage as well as your improved course", she proposed.
That was a bit of a hard choice to make. The trip would take us a few weeks one way, so I'd be missing for about two months, and I didn't want to miss any part of the project. I was about to decline, but then an idea came to my mind. "I wanted to decline due to the project, but I think there might be a way to get there fast", I said.
Tara seemed clueless, but when she saw what or rather who my eyes targeted, her face changed. "You don't mean?", "Yes, I do… Frosty! Aren't we the best of friends!", I exclaimed while heading towards him. "I can tell you want something, by that grin on your face. You look too much like your father, you know? Anyway, what do you want?", he asked. "You see, I don't want to miss that Formation project, but I need to go to Sedon for a business trip. You are…", before I finished, he cut me off, "Then use your Taurus? With his speed, you'd make it in about a week".
"Yea, I know, but you'd make it there on the same day. Besides, Tara's Taurus isn't like Turry. Come one, didn't I help you a few times to get those shards? I know they must be valuable, so you could at least give us a lift both ways. It's not much for you, and we'd save so much time", I replied. That placed him in a tough spot, but he still tried to ask for another shard.
"Frosty, you can't always take from others. Using my daughter for your little greedy cravings, doesn't seem too appropriate, eh?", my father jumped into the conversation. That placed Frosty in an even tighter spot, until he finally caved in. "Alright! I get it! I'll take you there, and bring you back. Happy?", he said. "Thank you, you are the best", I said before taking a smug look at Tara.
"Are we going right now? I'm not ready yet", she said, but couldn't hide her excitement. Anyone would be excited given the opportunity to travel atop a Dragon. "If you need anything, we can swing by Apium. Then go to Sedon straight away. I really don't want to miss the beginning of that project", I said.
"Right… Let's go to Apium then. I'll just get the papers and whatnot. Everything should be ready by now", she replied. Frosty complained about the additional trip to Apium, but agreed in the end. Before we left though, I called out to Curly. "Curly, we are leaving. Come over here!". Curly came running a bit confused, but made herself comfortable around my neck anyway. She became even more confused once we climbed atop Frosty.
"Don't worry, he's nice. Dad! Remember to take care of the wolves while I'm off.", I reminded him. "I know, don't worry", he said but then Dante and my mother came outside. I waved them farewell, then Frosty jumped into the sky and flew away. "This is a bit scary…", Tara said, but refused to close her eyes.
"The view from up here is great, isn't it? Curly, what do you think?", I asked. "Arf!", she barked while taking a look all around us. The travel between our home and Apium was really short for Frosty. We made it there in no time, surprising a few Atols in the process. Their surprise was somewhat thanks to me, though mostly thanks to Tara. "Did the princess come for a visit? Master Ulon should be at his place as always", one of the warriors asked.
"We are here for a few things only, but I can visit uncle at the same time. Frosty, just wait for a while, okay? I promise it's not going to be long". He just rolled his eyes, but said nothing. While Tara left to get all the necessary things, I visited my uncle. "Oh! Little Anna is here. Hehe, you grew up a lot, you know? Moreover, it looks like your appetite got better. You used to be so skinny, we were actually getting worried", he said.
"I'm no longer little, you know? Though it's great to see you, uncle. I'm here with Frosty, so we don't have much time. I just came to say hello. There's loads of stuff going on right now, and I have loads of stories to share with you. Do visit us in a few days, we can talk then", I said. "Of course. I was planning on visiting soon anyway. Before you leave, let me give you something", he replied then motioned for me to follow him.
I wasn't sure what he had in mind, but we headed towards his private garden. The last time I saw the garden was a long time ago. Back then, it already looked impressive, but the sight in front of me was a lot different compared to the past. "Wow, there are loads more herbs growing here now. Some of them are inside our garden too, but you actually arranged them differently…", I said.
"Hehe. Thanks to your father, I got my hands on a few rare herbs, you know? Anyway… This is for you", he said after harvesting a specific flower. The flower he put into my hair, was the same flower he gave me in the past. "Black Iris, you still remember that I like them?", I asked, a bit surprised. "Haha, once you are my age, you'll memorize such things as well. This flower suits you really well, no matter how old you get. A small gift, for your safe return", he replied.
I hugged him, "Thanks uncle…". "Anna! Are you here? I have all the stuff", Tara's voice came from outside. "Yes, I'm coming!... We will see each other soon, I have loads of stories to tell. Take care for now, uncle", I bid him farewell before joining Tara outside. "Black Iris?", she asked surprised. "Hehe, uncle gave it to me. Fits me really well, doesn't it?", I asked. "Stop showing off and let's go", she replied.
I asked her about Teri, and proposed for him to go with us, but Tara shook her head. "I told you, he's busy at the time. Besides, the three of us can have some fun by ourselves. Dragging Teri with us would only make things awkward for you guys", she replied. "Says someone who's shy to hold hands", I teased her. "Oh? What was that? Jealousy?", she replied with her nose pointing towards the sky. 'She is thick skinned… When Teri's not around. Hehe, that's the Tara I remember', I thought.
