Chapter 14: Lifesaver?!
"WHAT WAS THAT MAGIC REYNA" I shouted as I ride a golden steed towards a huge green forest.
Afterwards, a feminine voice came out from the ranks of soldiers following me. "I DO NOT KNOW CAPTAIN FERN."
I can barely hear her, the loud stomps of these Heavenbred Stallions are filling my ears and the dust is starting to go into my helm.
If it wasn't for the King's command, I would have preferred the normal horses.
With the forest within running distance, I raised my hand, signalling a halt.
Standing there atop my horse, the dust settled. Showing my glistening silver armor and the white cloak that surrounds it. Then after a few seconds, my 11 soldiers also appeared, with 10 of them wearing the armor of a typical knight while the other one wearing a golden armor.
I stepped down my horse, faced the forest, followed by the person wearing a golden armor who stood beside me.
The person took off the shiny golden helm, revealing Reyna, and there could be no words to describe and say that she is beautiful in whatever aspects you look at, she is just perfect.
"Captain Fern, whatever produced that magic is within this forest." She said.
"Well it is quite obvious." I shrugged, "That forests has very thick mana, and it would be no wonder for a strong monster to be in it."
Rubbing her hands on her chin, Reyna asked, "Do we burn the forest or kill the monster"
"Well, it depends."
"Depends on?"
"If it looks like it have expensive parts then we take it down then burn the forest." I casually replied.
This is probably the 7th forest we've encountered. What could happen?
"As you wish, Captain Fern." She sighed.
I'm liking this Captain - Subordinate relationship… Damn church gave me 3 years of hardship just for the Captain title.
Moving on with my thoughts, I called Reyna "Hey Reyna!"
"Yes, Captain?" A cute feminine voice came out.
"Can you set up camp? I am kind of tired after all that riding."
"Sure, Captain." She replied as she slowly helped the other 10 soldiers unmount their huge horses.
Is she seriously helping these rejects that the church sent?
"Oh please, just let them be they're just hollow pieces of steel anyways." I shouted.
She took a sharp glare at me then replied, "But they are sacred, and they shall be treated like it, Captain."
Wow, that's… scary
"Yeah, sure just set up camp after."
To which she looked at me then nodded.
I sure damn wish this monster is expensive, it would be a waste if it isn't. I walk closer and closer to the forest, the emanating mana getting stronger and stronger as I did.
"No wonder the monsters near here are pretty strong." I whispered to myself.
Heaving a deep sigh, I went back and saw Reyna setting up camp with the 10, so I decided to just help.
Lifting a tent, I asked Reyna who is tying the horses, "What kinda monster do you think it is?".
She let go of the ties with one hand and scratched her chin, "Considering the overbearing quality of the element of life in the mana…" She whispered. "Maybe a Tree-class?"
I think I saw that in a book before… but aren't they very rare?
"Don't those need a forest heart in a forest to exist?"
"Yes, Captain. Which is why I am not entirely sure of it."
"Why?"
"Simple because if there is one, we would have already been attacked, Captain."
Right… Makes sense.
Probably after 2 hours, we finished setting up camp. With two tents and a fire in the middle. With 10 pieces of armor standing in line by the side. I walked out of my tent, not wearing my armor but with my sword in hand.
"How are the other otherworlders doing?" I asked as I took a sit beside Reyna who is cooking mutton on the fire.
"Well, Captain, the otherworlders on this side of the southern continent are also hunting down the vampire family." She replied, spinning the mutton on her stick.
"Financially?"
"Respectfully, they are much wealthy compared to you, Captain."
"BUT I HAVE ALWAYS DONE THE MOST WORK WHY IS I— why is it like that?" I almost cried, "That damn church is so freaking unfair"
"Well, it is probably because of the power differences, Captain." She sighed.
"Avcourse it is—Is that mutton cooked?"
"Do you want it Captain?"
"Well… I am kinda hungry right now... " I said, scratching my head
"Here you go, Captain."
"T-thanks!"
Then, as I was eating, the air suddenly got cold.
The 10 soldiers immediately sprung to action and surrounded both me and Reyna.
Afterwards, a golden beetle is waddling in front of us. Seeing it, Reyna immediately reacted,
[Pestiia]! She casted, creating a blue fireball which made its way to the beetle.
But to me and Reyna's surprise, a wall of earth came forth and stopped the fireball.
Reyna casted fireball after fireball but the same thing would happen and a wall of solid earth would block it's path.
Then, as the beetle was closing in, I noticed a woman atop the beetle… IS THAT A SKIN TIGHT SUIT!
That's the first skin tight suit I've seen in this world for 3 years…
Wh-what is happening?!
"Are you an otherworlder?!" I shouted at the woman standing on the powerful-looking beetle.
Following what I said, the woman disappeared from the top of the beet—
"DO I LOOK LIKE A HUMAN" She suddenly appeared before me, lifting me with one hand on my neck. And with Reyna on the other hand.
"S-STOP CHOKING M—AUGHHEHAHGU"
Suddenly, a voice that sounded like it came from the heavens came out. "Stop it, Iris."
Then the sexy woman suddenly stopped, dropping me and Reyna to the ground, powerless, drooling and gasping for air.
I immediately looked around as to where that lifesaving voice could have come from.But the first thing I saw were dismantled pieces of armor. Is it a beast tamer? Has he tamed this woman and the beetle? A lost hero? Were the things I asked myself about what could this person b—
I open my eyes. Breathing raggedly and immediately looked around only to see nothing because I am blindfolded.
"Oh, you're awake."
OH, CRAP! AM I GOING TO BE TORTURED…. I—I heard that one of the vampires like that…
"P-PLEASE, I WILL TELL YOU ANYTHING" I sobbed, 'PLEASE D-DON-DONT HURT ME." I sobbed even more, a huge chunk of snot dripping down my nose.
"Don't worry, I won't hurt you." The same voice as before spoke.
"Wh-where am I?"
"Captain Fer—" Reyna's voice came up, only to be interrupted by someone's "Shut up"
"REYNA! ARE YOU OKAY?!"
"Do not mind her, she is fine." The lifesaver's voice came up once again. Should I even consider him as a lifesaver at this point?!
"You are currently in my forest." The lifesa— The kidnapper suddenly spoke.
"Your forest?"
"Yes, this is my forest."
Crap… Is this a forest heart? I thought they were killed by the first guys...
"Are you a forest heart?"
"A sentient one… yes!"
Crap.Crap.Crap.Crap. A SENTIENT ONE NOW… SERIOUSLY!
After a lot of minutes of me making excessive wheezing noises, I asked, "Can you remove my blindfold?"
"You won't freak out?"
Wait… he is speaking English, so I could assume him being human. and its fluent too… maybe another otherworlder?
"Y-yes, I won't"
"Okay, sure." The voice whispered, "Iris, remove his blindfold.
Then, I could hear whispers going around. Until after a few minutes, the blindfold is removed. And the first thing I see is a pretty sexy looking guy who is—COLOR GREEN WHAT!
