Chapter 40: 40. NOBODY IN INTER-SCHOOL TOURNAMENT(3)
The battle's wasn't much out of ordinary but the way they fought was breath taking for everyone present in stadium. Having 5 close combat students was better when most of opponents are mages but it's a nightmare if mage is elf.
The elves who specialise in magic know about their shortcomings in close combat so they make new techniques and magic for such things, and because all elves have such long lifespan they make technique and spells more perfect to pass it to next generations.
So having such perfect spells and magic how can elves loose in quality .That's why it was an predictable match but the way their leaders ended match was not a predictable thing for anyone.
At mere age of 12 he showed how a warrior should act. Rather than surrendering and losing his dignity, he choose to fight till end to lose with dignity
Audience was moved by such act and even when he lost the duel, he won heart of all peoples in audience.
"Now for the next match we have, Ionia Academy vs Warkinles Academy! "
Once again both sides got into the platform, on one side were human students in purple uniform and on another beastmen students in white blazer and black shirt.
"Get ready!"
As referee announced that both teams got into position, both human mages on back side and one archer in middle of them, both swordsmans in front and on left side assassin and behind them all was healer protected by all of them
and on other side all Beastmens were in attacking position because Beastmen don't follow usual system and because of strong body and not having long range magic all of them are close combat warriors. Except for fox tribe no one is able to use magic and current members of fox tribe aren't in first year of academy.
"Start the duel!"
As referee announced that students of both side rushed towards each other. All Beastmens were on attack position with their leader at centre. On humans side two swordsman and assassin rushed to attack. Healer buffed them all
The archer and mage launched the attack but both were ineffective against tough skin of beastmen even with buff. And like that beastmen clashed with two swordsman and the assassin despite being weak still choose to distract other 3 beastmens .
It was reasonable decision because if healer lost then it will be the end. One of Beastmen was from cat tribe that specialise in agility and flexible moments . he rushed toward the assassin but assassin was still better because of movement technique he was using but he lost considerable mana because of it.
The mage and archer after finding that their attacks were ineffective started using different tactic. Mage started using defense and illusion magic to help swordsmans in defense and illusion to run from the 2 beastmens that were now attacking him.
And archer started using his arrow to distract other two beastmens and run. He was using hit and run strategy to distract all beastmens, but after fifteen minutes difference between humans and beastmens could be seen clearly.
All humans were fatigued while beastmens were still full of energy. Suddenly the swords of both swordsmans broke and assassin who had used up all his mana got captured by cat beastman.
All the mana of mage was also exhausted and archers no longer had any arrow and stamina to shoot. With such situation everyone surrendered because if they showed bravery like spearman the beastmen weren't as good as elves.
Beastmen thought that it will be disrespectful for opponent if they don't attack them back properly after getting attacked.
Everyone in audiences understood that and they left the platform.
'It was very ordinary match which was made just to show superiority of race that is going to be defeated by Reus, those bastards! Look how much losing team is disappointed! ' klaus thought while watching the team leave.
"Now for next match you all were waiting for Asmodeous Academy vs Ixtal Academy!!!"
Now it was turn of Demons vs Dwarves, this was match was most exciting till now. Both races specialise in fire magic and are born physically strong. Hearing the announcers both team entered the platform and got in position.
"Start the Duel!"
And with that two dwarf with hammers and one with sword rushed first and after some delay assassins also rushed. And on demons side the defensive demon rushed early and
"MIRROR BARRIER"
He casted an spell and invisible barrier appeared in front of him and all demons. The dwarfs that attacked found that their weapons got reflected back towards them after attacking the barrier .
Suddenly the mages of Dwarves attacked with magic and it got through them but it was stopped by attack from demons side. Suddenly the dwarf swordsman got some idea and he ordered others to attack ground.
The dwarf did as they were ordered and when they attacked on ground at same time the incredible strength of dwarf was shown and whole ground got damaged and barrier of demon broke because of shockwaves.
The dwarves took advantage of situation and two dwarves with hammer attacked two close combat mage demons and swordsman attacked the defense mage. And the war between mages was still going but demons were more in number and better at magic so they had advantage but suddenly two dwarf assassin attacked them.
Because of high defense they didn't have much casualty but damage was so small to be ignored. The demons who were attacked by assassin were fire mages. they suddenly used their technique and covered themselves with fire and bit of darkness mixed.
With such tactic after some times the assassins that attacked these demons got their weapons corroded because of dark magic. and taking advantage of situation both demons fired a strong spell toward the assassins and eliminated them.
On the other hand the dwarf swordsman was in advantage because the defense mage was good in team battles but he was only a punch bag in solo battles after some times a strike from swordsman made defense mage loose a chance to defense and he got eliminated,
After that the swordsman helped the Dwarves with hammer to defeat the demons. Now it was 5 vs 4. The close combat rushed toward the mages and mages noticing this launched a combined attack but because of no proper control it missed dwarves but because of strong luck it made his way toward the earth mage of Dwarves.
"EARTH SHIELD!!!"
Noticing the attack the Earth mage tried to defend but was still thrown out because combined attack of four demons wasn't easy to handle.
Seeing their friend getting eliminated made Dwarves enraged and they directly attacked the mages. The dark mage binded them but overwhelming strength of Dwarves wasn't thing he could handle but the moment they were binded they still got lot of damage .
Dwarves suddenly thought of something and once again they stroked the ground but this time mixing all mana into it. This time shockwave was very strong and it made three mages getting thrown out but the mages have thought of something and
"DARK CHAINS !!!"
Although they were fire mages but demons were still able to use dark magic spells so when they were falling out of ground they binded their shadows with Dwarves and took them outside along with them,
Now on platform there were only two opponents and coincidentally both were fire mages ,now it was time to know whose fire is more hot.
