Chapter 2: MRS PARKER
"Is he going to sleep forever?" Selena asked as she looked at the man still lying unconscious on the hospital bed. Even in his sleep state, he still had that hard look on his face.
Having spent almost an hour with him, Selena was able to Identify him, infact he was someone that she had met once before, a couple years back.
"Mr Damien Parker," Selena mumbled as she looked at him. He was handsome, everyone could agree to that, his well chiseled chin and his thin lips were sculpted to perfection. His dark hair had complimented his skin so well that he looked like one of those hair models.
Selena paced back and front in the hospital as she wondered what to do now, she could easily run away from here. Well she would need money to do that, the only thing she had with her was the thumb drive.
"Mrs Parker?" The doctor called as he walked into the hospital ward with a smile on his lips as he looked at the lady.
"Excuse me?" Selena asked confused.
"In the form you filled you claimed to be his wife" The doctor said as he looked through some files before looking up at her with a smile.
"Oh yes...em.... what are the test results?" Selena asked. 'Shit' Selena cursed. If she had known them she would have signed as a sibling not his wife.
"Well it's a small concussion, we don't know for sure it's best to just wait till he wakes up before jumping into conclusions." the doctor said as he closed the files and walked over to the hospital bed, he made sure to check if his Vitals were stable.
"It would be good to know how the whole thing happened, that would help make my job easier" The doctors spoke still with a smile on his face.
Selena was trying to keep up with the act, she knew that those guys would be coming in soon. The only reason they were not here yet was because she was not alone.
"Oh he's waking up" The doctor said as he looked at Mr Parker gently open his eyes.
Selena could feel the cold sweat starting to form as she prepared for the worst, Mr Parker doesn't know her and here she was claiming to be his wife, for sure this wasn't going to end well, Selena could tell.
"Mr Parker, it's good that you are awake now, your wife had been worried sick" The doctor said with a smile.
"Wife?" The man asked as he slowly got up from the bed, his eyes landed on the girl who stood across the room. She had blonde hair and brown eyes, he could see some blood stains on her shirt. He couldn't recognize her face, he looked over to the doctor who still had a smile on.
"What am I doing here?" He asked as he tried to get up but the doctor had stopped him gently.
"Easy there, I still need to run some tests" The doctor spoke as he continued to check his vitals.
"who are you?" He asked with creased brows as he looked at her.
"She's your wife sir" The doctor answered but his words only left the man even more confused. "Do you not remember her?"
Selena stood there with her fingers crossed, afterall the man had a car accident and she recalled his head bleeding, the doctor had said it was a small concussion.
"Hon are you alright?" Selena asked as she walked closer to him and placed her arm on his but the man quickly pulled away.
"Where's William?" He asked.
"Who's William Mrs Parker?" The doctor asked, at this point he was also getting confused.
"Emmm....I don't know who he's talking about Doctor, maybe the concussion had left him confused" Selena spoke in fear as she prayed to the heaven's for help.
"Mr Parker, can you please tell me the last thing you remember?" The doctor asked
Mr Parker looked at the man with confused eyes, he tried to think, he looked back at the lady and he was even more confused. The more he tried to think the more confused he got.
"Ahhh" He screamed in pain as he held his head.
"His Vitals are spiking" The doctor said as he injected some sedatives before helping him lay back down on the bed.
The screaming had reduced and Selena could tell that what was in that sedative was. Sleep drug because in no time, Damien's eyes were closing.
"Mrs Parker can you please explain to me how the accident went down?" The doctor asked, he was already having some suspicions and he hoped he was wrong
"I can't clearly remember everything, we were in the car and all of a sudden there was a car crash, it seemed like our car had hit something. Before I could access the whole situation I saw My husband lying on the floor with blood all over." Selena lied, she didn't really lie though, afterall she did see him lying on the floor covered in blood.
"From the way it looks, this isn't a small concussion. It seems like Mr Parker is now suffering from amnesia" The doctor said as he checked the test reports again.
"What?" Selena asked confused as she glanced at the man, he was already asleep.
"But from the look of things, this isn't the first time." The doctor continued to speak while looking at the test results.
"I'm confused doctor" Selena said as she tried to process the whole thing.
"This is not the first time he's had Amnesia, while I did the test I noticed something in his brain cells but I didn't know that it was this serious" The doctor andded surprised as he closed the file to look at the Mrs.
"So what are you saying Doctor" Selena asked with worry evident in her voice, she was getting a hang of this pretense stuff now.
"Mr Parker has a sever case of Amnesia, unlike the other cases, one could tell what caused it or perhaps when his memory would be restored. But in Mr Parkers case we don't know for sure. His Amnesia comes and goes at it's own time, ones triggered there's no telling when it would stop" The doctor ended his words as he took a sit on the high stool next to the hospital bed.
"So what you are saying Doctor is that My husband doesn't remember anything?" Selena asked as an idea popped in her head.
"I won't say nothing, well from the way it looks, he seem to not remember getting married to you" The doctor said before adding "What year did you guys get married?" The doctor asked.
Selena sighed as she thought for a few seconds before speaking"It's a year now" Selena answered.
"Well in that case then Mr Parker can't recall anything that happened a year ago" The doctor spoke as he sighed and got up from the stool.
"This must be hard for you Mrs Parker" The doctor said with concern when he saw the conflicted look on the girls face.
"It's okay Doctor I understand" Selena said with a sad time as a thought crossed her mind.
"I'll leave you two now, when he wakes up you can just type that button there and a nurse would come in right away" The doctor said with a smile before walking out the door.
Selena didn't know why the Universe was on her side today or it was just luck. Whatever it was, she was enjoying it, if it was true that Mr Parker had suffered memory loss and he forgot their marriage, that means that he doesn't remember anything. She could still continue to claim to be his wife for the mean time until she's able to clear things up with the agency.
