Chapter 7: 07. Wang Ming

Aside from the Ghost River Cultivation Art, Fang Yang had practised 3 spells.

The first spell he mastered was called Qi shield. It was a basic shielding spell that formed a shield using the cultivator's qi and was a standard spell used by all cultivators.

He also mastered another spell called Object manipulation art, and like the name suggested, this was a very simple spell that allowed the practitioner to form tethers of Qi onto an object and manipulate it using those tethers.

The last technique that Fang Yang had mastered was a movement technique called phantom steps.

This was by far the most complicated technique in Fang Yang's Arsenal and it was also the latest technique that he got.

He only exchanged the technique a year ago before he set out on his journey to increase his survival ability so as a result he had only achieved the most basic mastery of this technique.

He had only been in this world for a few days but Fang Yang knew that he had to familiarise himself with his techniques.

Since he was trying his spells for the first time, Fang Yang decided that it would be best to start of with the easiest one, qi shield.

"Qi shield" called Fang Yang

Fang Yang followed the specific Qi circulation he had seen in his memories of the Qi shield spell and watched as his dark-coloured Qi floated out of his body forming a large shield in front of him.

Looking at this, Fang Yang was a little excited.

He had just performed magic after all.

Fang Yang knew that this shield could block attacks from cultivators at his level quite easily when supported by the powerful Qi from the Ghost River Cultivation Art.

It may be able to endure attacks from Cultivators at the 2nd and 3rd level quite comfortably but if a cultivator at the 4th level or above were to put their all into it, the shield would be quickly broken.

Just as Fang Yang was preparing to practice his other techniques he suddenly heard a sound at the door.

"Knock! Knock!"

Going over to the door, Fang Yang opened it without much thought and just as he did a person rushed inside.

"Fang Yang!" Said the man in disbelief.

"It really is you!"

But the man's disbelief only lasted for a few seconds before it turned into anger

"Damn it! You come back after disappearing for a year and don't even greet your brother! I almost thought you died, you bastard! If it wasn't for people in the market saying they saw you, I wouldn't even know you were back yet!"

"Wang Ming." Said Fang Yang.

Looking at the young man in front of him, Fang Yang felt a little strange.

He was a slightly chubby man, not particularly tall nor handsome but he had a smile and face that made you want to trust him. But don't be fooled by that appearance.

If it wasn't for the fact that Fang Yang had joined the sect at the same time as Wang Ming and had practically grown up with him, he would probably be cheated out of his boxers by this unscrupulous kid.

Unlike him, Wang Ming was mid-grade root bone and could be considered rather talented and his talent in business was even more exceptional, allowing him to set up a chain of rather profitable stalls.

The last time he spoke to him, he heard that he was trying to get the backing of an inner sect disciple to open up a large store in the outer sect.

Fang Yang didn't know how things had developed since they had last met but, judging from the numerous space bags at his waist, things couldn't be going too poorly for Wang Ming.

Coughing, Fang Yang looked at Wang Ming a little awkwardly and replied

"Wang Ming, you can't blame too much. The journey back was just so hectic that as soon as I came back I was too tired to do anything else."

looking at the dark circles under Fang Yang's eyes, Wang Ming quickly realised he was telling the truth and with that, a lot of his anger quickly disappeared.

"I guess, I didn't look at your situation. It must have been hard out there looking for opportunities..."

As Wang Ming was speaking he suddenly stopped. He could see that Fang Yang's cultivation had not progressed in the slightest and his exhausted look only made him believe that Fang Yang's journey had been unsuccessful.

Sighing in his heart, Wang Ming changed the topic in order to lighten the mood.

"Well, we don't have to talk about your journey. I can still treat you to a meal and besides, there's still some good news. The Elder Lu has advanced in cultivation and in order to celebrate he reduced the cost of all his sermons on Corpse Control to only one spirit stone. You are so interested in Corpse puppetry so this should be good news for you."

Wang Ming said this in order to cheer up Fang Yang, he was destined to be disappointed at his response.

"sermons?" asked Fang Yang with a wry smile

"How could I attend any sermons when I'm flat out broke?"

As Wang Ming heard this his face instantly went pale

"What! Fang Yang, what do you mean by broke!"

"Broke as in, i have no money" replied Fang Yang, confused at Wang Ming's reaction

"Fang Yang, If you have no spirit stones how will you pay off your debt! That's 150 spirit stones we're talking about!"

As Wang Ming thought about it he felt a little nervous. Even with his rather profitable business stalls, it would take him several months to save up such a large amount.

When he heard that Fang Yang was taking out such a large loan, although he found it suspicious, he still believed in Fang Yang's character and that he wouldn't take out so much money if he couldn't pay it back.

Who would have thought that Fang Yang would be so frivolous as to spend it all away!

As Wang Ming was panicking, Fang Yang wasn't any better, in fact, his situation was much worse!

The second Fang Yang heard the words '150 Spirit stones' he felt his world spin as if he had been struck by lightning.

"1...150" muttered Fang Yang in disbelief.
