Chapter 24: Sucked Dry
Miguel frowned at this realization. However, he soon realized what the problem was.
Although a world's energy would always be present in the air, this doesn't mean that there was an endless supply of it.
In his previous world, the Qi would usually converge and gather at the center of a continent. It was there where the Qi was the thickest; hence, cultivators of great strength would usually flock to such an area so that they could have a steady supply of Qi while cultivating. Sects, cities, kingdoms, or even empires in such areas were also usually more prosperous compared to those at the edge of a continent.
Of course, there were also some special cases, such as naturally formed cultivation caves or places that were set up with an energy gathering array to gather all the surrounding Qi to a specific location.

Miguel must have already sucked dry the surrounding energy in the village, especially near the servant quarters, during the past days that he had cultivated the Origin Energy.
Miguel estimated and guessed that the energy in this area might be able to gather again by tomorrow.
As for creating an energy-gathering array here, Miguel thought that it would be pointless. He would soon leave this village toward the main branch anyway. And creating an energy-gathering array was not that simple either.
Apart from the problem of gathering materials, Miguel was not even sure if the materials needed to create an array that he knew before would still be the same in this world.
He stood up from his seat and went out of his room.
Sara had already gone to work earlier, after they were done having breakfast. Miguel did not bother accompanying her to the manor, as he knew that she would be safe.
Miguel even speculated that a change might happen later today due to his interaction with Marcel yesterday.
He gazed outside and saw that it was only around noon.
As he had nothing to do, he decided to stroll around for the time being. At the same time, he would also like to search for a spot that might have some lingering Grimoire Summoning Energy for him to cultivate.
He took the dagger and tied it horizontally to his waist, while the long sword was placed behind his back, sheathed inside its long scabbard. His figure soon went out of the servant quarters as he strolled towards Jonas' outpost.
Miguel noticed that the burn marks caused by the battle between Aaliyah and Jonas were still there.
It seems that whoever investigated here did not bother cleaning up the scene.
Miguel ignored the burnt marks as he walked towards where Jonas came from the other day.
The major task of being a guardian of a village was to report or kill any wild beast that might threaten the village. Guardians were usually mercenaries hired by large families to protect their village, but some may have come from the family directly.
There were a lot of Wild Beasts in this Wild Beast World.
They were dangerous creatures, and most of the time, they would attack a human in sight. This was especially true for low-grade beasts who don't have high intelligence.
Grimoire users would be able to gain rewards through their grimoire if they defeated such beasts.
Warriors or Martial Artists on the other hand, can use the beast's body, which was full of nutrients, to nourish their own bodies as well.
Or they could sell the beasts for some gold coins; dead or alive will be accepted, depending on the situation.
Although Peach Village may look peaceful and devoid of wild beasts, this was actually only because the guardians would always neutralize any beast they found in the wild before they could even reach the village.
The Peach Village was just at the edge of the Blazing Expanse, so the beasts here were usually just low-leveled and low-grade ones; hence, guardians with the strength of Jonas were the most suited to become guardians in these kinds of places.
The reason why Miguel left the burnt marks and burnt body of Jonas before was so that the others would think that he was attacked by wild beasts. Of course, he knew that Marcel would be able to link it to him after what he said, but this show was obviously not targeted at him but for the other people in the village.
Miguel strolled leisurely for almost thirty minutes before he decided to stop. He was already quite far from the village, but no Wild Beast was still in sight. He wanted to find and fight one to test his current strength.
It seems that Jonas has done a good job patrolling this area, as he realized that there were no beasts around here.
He must have always patrolled the area while searching for that treasure.
Miguel rested for a bit before he continued moving forward.
He was alert and finally found a wild beast after another thirty minutes of walking. Miguel estimated that he was already more than 4 kilometers away from the village.
The beast was a small and fiery hare. It has long ears that dropped to the ground while a blazing fire circled around its neck as if it were a lion's mane.
It doesn't look intimidating at all, but Miguel knew not to underestimate it.
Every beast in this world has its own skill. Some may even possess an Innate Skill that can greatly aid them during a battle, like Aaliyah.
He was not aware of what grade or level this fiery hare was, so he summoned his grimoire and prepared to cast the absolute shield if anything went awry. A Bronze Grade Grimoire's absolute shield can withstand a full strike from a Level 5 Normal Grade Beast.
Wanting to test his own strength against this fiery hare, Miguel did not waste any more time and dashed towards it with pure speed.
With a body at the Second Stage of the Cleansing Realm, or an equivalent to an Advance Novice Martial Artist, his figure burst like a cheetah towards the unassuming hare.
