Chapter 4: Safe Home

Golden lights were gathering into Rhys hand as he charged to the demon.

Crunch! A light spear was stabbed into the demon's body.

There was an unbelievable look on Ludolf's face."H-How could a cannon fodder-"

Cracks appeared on his body, then he broke into pieces. The body parts burned and turned into ash. Faint red fog scattered in the air.

"Hmm?" Rhys felt something when the red fog, dark energy, touched his body. He closely observed it, and he felt shocked. The dark energy was absorbed in his body."What the hell?!"

He quickly looked at his sea of consciousness. There was a faint floating red fog, but the ten wings on his armor suddenly shone. The fog was purified and turned into light energy, then it was absorbed into his soul. What he saw caused his heart to quickly beat. He thought,"I can absorb dark energy and purify it?! What is my body's limit? There is plenty of dark energy on the southern continent, but it is too dangerous for my current strength. I can't go there, but there is a much safer place where I can do it, Tier 1 world: Kindom! I must pass the assessment and enter that world!"

Two exonns flew to the alley. They floated in the air as they looked around.

Philipp was holding a light sword, and Louis was holding a weapon.

"Rhys?!" Philipp was shocked when he saw the young man's face.

"Where is the demon?" asked Louis.

Rhys looked at the ashes on the floor and said,"He is dead."

"What?!" Philipp and Louis looked shocked.

The sword on Philipp's hand scattered into lights, then he moved down to the ground."Hahahaha! I knew it! You will be extraordinary when you become an exonn!"

Louis smiled and shook his head. His sword turned into light and went back to his body. The sword was a soul weapon that only Tier 2 and above could have. "Kid, fighting alone was dangerous, especially when you are only capable of light magic. The higher stage you get, the more you will realize the difference in level of power."

Philipp had a melancholic smile on his face. He patted Ryh's shoulder and said,"He has a point, but I believe you will become an exceptional light magic user like Ms. Luna."

"She has a famous family that taught and supported her."

"Hey, are you going to keep pushing him down?"

Louis shrugged. "I'm just saying the reality, so he would not lose his life like others did."

Philipp looked at Rhys. "Don't mind what he said. I've seen you practice your spear for many years. You don't have just persistence, you even have a brain. I'm sure you will reach a height that no other light magic user could reach. I'm surprised though that you only got white armor like myself. Did you try to stay a lot longer in the trial?"

Rhys nodded his head.

Philipp sighed. "Ms. Luna did the same, so she was not able to do well in the other trials. Did you register in the exonn association?"

"Not yet. I was planning to do it tomorrow, but I will try to transfer my family to the Exonn Park tonight."

Philipp smiled. "I know one of your goals is to keep them safe. You finally got it."

Rhys also smiled. "Yeah, I finally got it."

Louis looked at the ash on the floor. "They have become more active in recent years."

Philipp also looked serious. "Yeah, I think they are cooking something."

Then he looked at Rhys and asked,"Did the demon say something? They sometimes unintentionally blurt out information because of their arrogance."

"Nothing, just usual arrogant phrases."

Philipp chuckled. "Go, leave it to us."

Rhys nodded."Thanks."

He flew and moved in front of Javier, who was peeking outside the alley. He smiled and said,"Thanks. If the demon had escaped, he could have hunted you because you called the emergency dial of the Exonn Association."

"Y-You saved me. I could only do that much."

Rhys smiled."Take care."

Javier nodded his head, then stared at Rhys as he was flying away.

Policemen arrived at the scene. They were riding huge white motorbikes. They had white armor and energy guns on their backs.

Rhys went back to their apartment. Liliana, Hansel, Ayla, and apartment residents were also waiting for him. They had smiles on their faces. They had known each other for a long time.

"Thank you for everything, Hansel," said Rhys.

"Hahahaha, I did nothing special."

"You gave me a spear. Other apartments are raising their rents, but you did not do it to us. You even put your shop near here where you can guard the apartment's residents."

Hansel laughed. "I bought an apartment for fun. I have a shop that can earn me a lot of money, but I don't want to live in a boring mansion. I want to live in this kind of place where there are many people I can meet and talk with."

Then Hansel looked at the apartment residents. The memory of drinking beers and enjoying food together flashed in his mind."The food and drink will taste bad if they suddenly become missing."

Liliana held Rhys' hand. "I'm sad that you and your family are moving, b-but don't forget to recommend me to Director Grace when you see her."

Hansel and Winsel sighed.

The others helped bring out their luggage and lifted them down the apartment.

Rhys looked at Ayla and said,"Aunt, I heard that an exonn like me could take other relatives or family when I made a bigger contribution. I will help your family transfer to the park later."

Ayla had teary-eyed eyes. She watched Rhys and Ana grow up. She shook her head and said,"We are fine here. Mr. Hansel is guarding the apartment. You should prioritize your safety."

Rhys smiled. "I will, but I will still help you later."

Lola was lifted by Gil as she waved her hand to everyone, then they rode a taxi.

Ella looked sad that one of her playmates was moving away.

Ayla's husband, Robert, rubbed Ella's head."Your brother Rhys said that he would help us later. Maybe you will be neighbors someday."

"R-Really?"

Hansel watched the taxi as it moved away. "It's too bad that he only got white armor. He could have become significant to the world."

"Who said light magicians are not significant?" retorted Liliana.

Hanself shook his head. "All exonns are capable of light magic. An exonn who is only capable of light magic will not make a significant impact."

The taxi arrived in front of a huge silver gate. It looked like the gate in the Pacific Ocean. The walls were made up of concrete and tall bars. People could see a glimpse inside the park, which gave them a feeling of yearning and envy.

"Don't you need to register with the association first?" asked Ana.

Rhys stared at the huge gate. "The association will only open tomorrow, and I can't wait that long because it is getting more dangerous even in the city. Registration is not the only way to prove my identity."

His armor appeared on his body as he walked toward the gate. He looked at the camera as he raised his hand. "I am not registered in the association, but..."

Golden lights was gathering on his hand and forming a spear."Is this proof enough?"

After a short silence, the huge gate suddenly opened. A man named Sebastian wearing a butler uniform came out with a smile on his face. "Good evening, sir. Welcome to the park. It doesn't matter what is the color of your armor. It is the association's duty to keep exonn's family safe."

Sebastian flicked his fingers, then waiters helped carry the luggage. "Sir, follow me."

They walked inside and looked around the park. There was a lake surrounded by vibrant green grass. There were many plants, flowers and trees.

There were lamps on the side of the road. They arrived in front of an oval in the middle of the road where there was a huge golden flame. The flame was a hologram.

Sebastian smiled."The association wanted to put Ms. Valeria's sculpture in every exonn park, but she refused. Instead of her sculpture, she prefers to use the golden flame. She was like a fire to our world. Our light and our hope."

Rhys smiled, while the others had a look of awe.

A car arrived and moved around the oval.

"Let me drive you to your house, sir," said Sebastian. He drove the car as he kept explaining,"The park has supermarkets, schools, parks, and other facilities that anyone will need."

"The association has prepared a really good place," said Rhys as he watched outside.

Sebastian smiled. "Exonns are keeping the world safe, so it is only natural for the association to keep the family members safe. You too, sir, will play that role soon. Everything here can be paid with the Exonn's Credit. The World Federation's money, Gard, can be converted into credits, but they could only buy daily necessities. If you want some services, you need to pay with E credits. E credits could be earned by patrolling the city or going to the front line."

They arrived in front of a building that looked like a condominium.

"We must use the space for the park very well because of the limited space of the city. No one would want to live where it could not be patrolled by an exonn, so each city has a huge population. Sir, you can buy a huge house when you have enough credit."

The waiters helped them carry the luggage to their room. Lola was excited as she looked around their new house.

"Sir, some daily necessities will be delivered here later. You don't need to pay for it. It's my gift for our first meeting. I'm sure the association will give you credit when you register tomorrow. You can call our service center if you have more questions," said Sebastian with a smile.

Rhys nodded his head. "Thanks a lot."

Rhys went to the balcony and stared at the park. "It's a safe home, but is the world safe? I could at least focus and not keep getting worried if I knew that my family is living in a safe place."

In the hallway, the waiter named Charles looked at Sebastian with curiosity. "Sir, we do have to show courtesy to exonns, but why are you being very courteous to that new exonn? I heard he only has white armor."

Sebastian chuckled. "Do you know Philipp?"

Charles nodded his head.

"I respect Philipp. That man survived for a long time in spite of his level of power because of his wit. He mentioned Rhys Creed a few times. Like him, I am looking forward to what he could do. Showing a little more courtesy will not make me lose anything. Who knows? He might become like Ms. Valeria and remember me in the future."

"Hahahaha! Sir, he has white armor."
