Chapter 32: spitfire

Chapter 32: spitfire

✴Konstantine Zafeiriou✴

''What do you think?'' I asked Cham as she wiped the thick makeup from her face, scowling like a kid whose last candy was taken away from her. She looks funny but I held myself back from laughing. We all do.

My team, Crow, Black, and Falcon tried hard to suppress their laughter.

''She's definitely the real deal'' Crow murmured, popping a peanut in his mouth playfully. His chestnut brown eyes were strained on the screen where Isabella can be seen, struggling to get out of the ropes that are binding her hands and ankles to the metal chair.

Cham huffed, flopping down on the couch beside Black. ''She's a bitch, that's for sure.'' She was now nursing her blooded lip from the headbutt she got from Isabella.

That redhead is a little spitfire. I've never imagined that the girl I fancy in that coffee shop is this feisty.

After that little outburst we got from her, Cham tried to punch Isabella in the face again. Isabella managed to move her face inches from the impact, Cham stumbled forward and Isabella gave her a very sting and loud headbutt.

Falcon chuckled, his dark brown eyes dancing with mockery. ''It was your bright idea to pretend as her.''

Cham huffed, stuffing her mouth with a mouthful of peanuts from the bowl resting on the coffee table in front of us. ''It was fun before.''

She was right, it was fun watching those girls grovel over her taunting tactics because they're not the real Isabella Marciano. Little did Isabella know that there are many people out there who pretend to be her. She seemed oblivious about it when she came barging to Damien's office announcing that she's the real Isabella Marciano.

Black wrapped his arms over Cham's shoulders, pulling her over his lap. ''It's okay baby'' he cooed. ''You did good in front of that spoiled brat.''

Cham chuckled, lifting her face, she kissed Balck squarely. It's like coffee and milk are kissing each other. Black isn't called black for no reason. Besides him being coded Black mamba, his skin is really dark while Cham is as white as a dove.

Crow and Falcon faked gag.

''Get a room!'' Falcon smacked the back of Black's neck.

Black merely shrugged, lifting Cham, and went out of the great room, disappearing through the grand staircase.

''Do you think she'll work with us?'' Crow asked, watching Isabella pound one the metal door.

How the hell did she get out of her restraints?

She was glaring at the camera now as if she knows I'm watching her. She popped both of her shoulders and twisted her ankles which I believe were sprained from the way she walked earlier.

She was now pacing back and forth the basement cell, her scarlet hair was disheveled, dried blood decorated her creamy skin as she chewed on her lips.

''I don't think she will after that stunt we did on her'' Falcon argued, leaning his back against the couch as his dark brown eyes studied the very angry looking Isabella on the screen.

''We'll need the bald guy alive,'' Crow mumbled, tilting the beer bottle on his lips, taking a big swig, and burping like a roaring lion.

''Oh God,'' Falcon whined. ''I'm gonna be sick. I'm surrounded by disgusting people!''

That made me chuckle, my team is great but they're all kids inside the body of a grown-up.

Crow chuckled, doing another loud burp directed at Falcon's face.

I shook my head as the two started punching each other playfully. I left the great room before they started firing their guns at each other's heads.

Inhaling deeply, I went out of the mansion and took the pavement that led to the shore behind safe house 47.

I've always hated the ocean, I always thought it was treacherous. Its course could change without warning, it'll swallow you whole when you're not ready, worse it might take your life if you're not careful.

But I saw how Isabella loved the ocean. For six months, I watched her run the shore and swim from time to time. She was carefree as a child.

I felt it. Her demons. I saw it with my own eyes the moment we went out on a date. It was scary seeing that dark of a nightmare. It looks worse than Freddy Krueger giving you a visit in your sleep. Her slow groans of brutal fear were deep; it sounded that it came from hell.

She might have used me to get to Damien but now, I might be the one using her to fulfill my objective.

I sighed, tucking my hands inside my jeans pocket. I didn't want to involve her with me, that's why I avoided her to the best of my abilities.

When I saw her in Calvin's mansion, I felt something squeeze my heart. The feeling was unknown to me but I know I didn't like it. Calvin was a manwhore, she might be my stepbrother but I knew better than to trust him with Red at that time.

I plan on talking to her after the ball but when I saw her with Calvin that night, that unknown feeling was there again. It's eating me up and urging me to take her hand and get her away from that place. She was too pure in my eyes to mingle with those greedy bastards Damien is associating with.

Turns out, she wasn't as pure as I thought. She had her own agenda and when she said she was Isabella Marciano, my ability to think rationally left me.

I wanted her all to myself. That was pellucid to me that she's not as pure as I thought but I knew the girl I adored is still there. Part of me hoped that she'd denied her identity with Cham's charade but the fire in her jade hues could turn a burning soul in hell to ashes.

Such a spitfire and I like her even more because of it. I just hope she makes the right choice and joins my team.
