Chapter 2: A New Target
A new day, a new girl.
After that defeat from Aira yesterday, I set out to look for a another girl that I could have a chance with.
Shaina Japena, a smart girl reaching top marks on every subject, exits her classroom as break time begins.

Why her? Well, she's known to turn down every guy who tried to hit on her not matter how handsome or attractive them are.
I haven't even heard about any guy being her friend.
Wait, I think she had a guy friend before, but the guy wanted to be her boyfriend the entire time, and that led to her staying away from him.
I also heard that no one has seen her smile.
Yet I'll still take a shot with her. If I fail, then I can simply head to other girls.
But I have to know if I have a chance as soon as possible. I don't want to waste effort like that time with Aira.

I went near the school field, a place that I rarely go to.
I sat on the small bench, and waited.

I'm trying to figure out if I was right. Since I don't see her in the common places I go to, I'm guessing Shaina goes here during breaks.

As I felt the gentle breeze of the wind, someone arrived.
A girl wearing glasses, fixing her short hair, and carrying books, places herself on a bench on the opposite side of me.

She has an elegant posture, a small body, but not flat.
She's basically really hot, and cute at the same time.
I can understand why guys still don't give up on hitting on her.

And of course, I'll take a shot myself.
I watched from afar, thinking of ways to approach her.

As I was thinking, another guy came around.
He was slowly walking, and he seems to avoid gaining Shaina's attention.
He kept on hiding behind trees and bushes while moving closer to her.

That's kinda creepy.
I've been trying to hit on girls, but I've never attempted to act like that.

He finally arrives behind Shaina, and looks at her intently.
This seems bad.

"Hey Shaina! You look beautiful today. Can I take you out to eat?" The guy greeted Shaina from behind.
...
What.. Kind of greeting is that? You expect she would have a good impression on you if you say things like that?"
...
Shaina turned at the dude, and with an emotionless face, she responded with,
"Thank you. But no, I'd like to have some time alone right now."
The guy flinched a little and broke character for a second.
He then returned to his flirty attitude and said,
"We're just gonna have a fun time! Come on, Shaina!"
He grabbed Shaina's shoulder.
...
Okay. That's a bit too much.
I started to head towards them.
...
Shaina looked at him with an annoyed expression, and pushed his arm away from her shoulder.
"I already said no. Would you please get away from me?!"
After hearing Shaina raise her voice a little, the guy persisted on taking her with him.
He grabbed her arm.
...
Okay. That's a kinda wrong.
...
I pushed the guy away, and stood infront of Shaina, as the guy fell down on the ground.
"Hey! That's a bit too much dude. She already said no." I shouted.
The dude stood up, grunting and glared at me, as he runs away.
...
I let out a deep sigh.
"Hey. I could handle him by myself. You shouldn't have bothered." (Shaina)
"Heh. Yeah. I know you could've, but I can't just watch and wait for results. You may have been able to beat him up, but I can't just sit there and watch if you actually can, or wait for you to scream or something." (Josh)
"Are you suggesting that I seem weak? That I can't handle things by myself?" (Shaina)
"No. I'm saying that I can't manage to watch and do nothing even with the knowledge that you can beat him up." (Josh)
...
I meant that.
...
"Ah. It seems that you're a just nice guy then. Good for you."
Shaina turned away from me.
...
She smiled.
...
She normally smiles. I guess the rumors are wrong.
I think.
But seeing that makes me feel happy.
...
"Well, I heard that you just want to be alone right now, so I'll take my leave."
I turned away, and started leaving.
...
"Hey. You know what? How about we eat for a bit? You're already here before me, so I assume you haven't eaten yet?"
Shaina grabbed my sleeve.
"Uhm. Alright then."
We both went to the canteen.
