Chapter 3: Basterdized Eternal Scripture

After the tribulations, Zhen was excited to finally start cultivating. After all, who did not dream of having the strength to split oceans and crack open earth. But for the entire weak, Bao and their mother did not leave him alone, not even for a second.

Bao might have forgiven him for nearly giving him a heart attack and promised to never say a thing to their mother, but that did not prevent him from watching his every action like a hawk; as if he would run away right then and there to do some other dangerous stunt.

Ok, he is not totally wrong.

So he was struck all week, sitting beside the field as Bao and mother planted rice samplings in their field. Out of boredom, he did what he always did to pass his boredom.

"Skyword" he whispered under his breath.

Immediately the golden book appeared, floating before his eyes. Layng down under the shade of the tree, he again commanded, "Records of Genisis"

Skyword glowed briefly, before splitting into dozens of books floating in front of him. Zhen frowned at such a small number of books present. Given his abilities now, Skyword could only show him what was ever put down in writing, despite it containing the records of all existence. It was not that Skyword did not want to show, but not capable of interpreting or understanding even if he saw.

That is why he could not directly see through Skyword what happened at Genisis, the beginning of the universe, or see Genisis Scriptures because they are not written, per se bit depend on the records of people who might have knowledge about them and let Skyword filter out and show only those that were true.

He eyed the books in front of him, "Traces of Genesis by Wandering Cloud Sage, hum.. no" Zhen Ideally waved his hand and the book vanished, and another floated in front of him.

"Primordial Deity of Genisis by Human Emperor the Third, interesting but not what want now. Save it for later." The book floated out of his vision but did not disappear.

"Not this"

"No, not this one"

"Not this either."

Zhen scrolled through books but none had what he wanted.

"Scriptures of Genisis by Magu", Zhen leaned in interest, this might be it.

Opening it, he began to read.

'When this iteration of cosmos was created, many realms manifested and soon life prospered on those realms. But along with it, the Scriptures of Genisis also came into existence. It is believed that after understanding and meditating on these scriptures, the true cultivation era started.'

'But to this day, no one has ever been able to confirm their existence. There has always been speculation and rumors but no concrete evidence.'

Zhen read as Magu got in more detail on speculations that some of the greatest cultivation sutras might have been derived from one of the scriptures. Zhen noted each and every one of them down, planning to research on them at a later time. He was getting more and more engaged the more he read, his path to cultivation becoming clearer with every page.

When he reached the last page, he nearly jumped in shock after reading the first line.

'My interpretation a piece of Eternity Scripture'

Calming his heart he started to read. Unbeknown to him, as he was reading, the qi around him stirred, gently flowing into his body. But Zhen did not pay attention to any of that, focusing on trying to read and understand.

"...and the eternal is not consistent, but unending." Zhen finished the book, but immediately noticed something different.

He turned his vision inwards and was shocked. He had entered the first stage of Qi gathering.

Unknowingly, he had stepped onto the path of cultivation.

___________________________________________________

Months passed and soon it was autumn, the time of harvest.

At his home, Zhen was quietly was laying down on the floor. Beside him, his brother was soundly sleeping while his mother had just left to prepare food for the harvest festival along with the women of the village.

It was not even sunrise yet but Zhen was wide awake. He was waiting for this opportunity for weeks. Since the day he accidentally entered the first stage of qi gathering, he abstained from cultivating but Eternal Sutra, even a bastardized version of it lived up to its name as one of the Genisis Scriptures. He had been constantly gathering qi and consolidating it into cultivation without even trying. Extremely pure Qi constantly tickled into his body every second.

In just a few months, he reached the fifth level of Qi gathering and that had frustrated him. Not that it was bad, on the contrary, he was very pleased with the situation; what made him frustrated was that his progress at body forging was zero.

'The body is the vessel, and essence Qi fills it while the soul guides them both', this phrase is the foundation of cultivation.

He is progressing by leaps and bounds in essence cultivation but his body cultivation was behind, leaving the vessel not ready. For most, it would not be much of a problem; in fact, the mainstream form of cultivation completely forgoes Body cultivation.

But a properly repaired body makes for a much more sturdy cultivation base, making future cultivation easier and increases the realm of cultivation he could achieve in the future.

And Zhen would never settle for the second-best, so here he was, ready to restart forging his body.

Seeing that his other had left and would not be returning for a long time, while his brother was tired from harvesting yesterday, would not be waking up for hours.

Standing up, Zhen stealthily made his way out of the house. Mobilizing his Qi, he channels it to utilize a footwork technique.

'Shadowless Flight'

He proceeds to jump from one roof onto the other with such speed and fineness that weak clay walls and leaf roofs did not even creak under his weight. In a moment he was out of the village. With a smile, he pushed his footwork to its limits and covered the fields in the blink of an eye.

He enters the forest and jumps onto a branch, and pauses.

He has few hours to do what he wants, just a few hours to step onto the path of Body Forging. Since the start, he had his eye on one special body forging technique.

It had many names but the one it was most known as was Ten Thousand Beast's Blood. An ancient technique that uses the properties of the beast's blood to gain a portion of its bodily strength, simultaneously gaining the abilities of the beast whose blood was used and using raging demonic Qi in its blood to forge the body.

As the name suggests, it could be done ten thousand times, or even more, gaining abilities of every beast whose blood is used. Admittedly very few ever completed it ever but those that did were unstoppable Juagernauts of their era. He felt chills just reading about them.

Just thinking about strength true dragon or Quinlin or some other legendary beast's blood could bestow made him drool.

But first, he had to find his first beast. Fortunately for Zhen, the Indigo forest is filled with all kinds of beasts.
