When I open my eyes, everything is dark. The world is disorienting. I can't tell up from down, left from right—
<Where am I?>
The only thing I know is that I'm surrounded in darkness. Somehow, I know that I see, but that no light reaches my eyes. It's a strange sensation... the only sensation I have, to be fair.
I remember nothing. This darkness is all I know. My name, even my gender, everything about myself sits on the fringes of my consciousness, avoiding me entirely, and leaving me helpless.
Movement. I feel movement. It's sluggish, and stuttering, but I'm definitely moving now.
Slowly... slowly... slowly... light? I can see light! All at once, my view emerges into a bright space, and I see... a giant guy! He's standing over me, wearing a loose-fitting short sleeved white dress shirt. His strong-looking arms are the ones helping me out of the dark space.
"There's the head, here comes the rest," he says.
Wait.
Wait wait wait wait wait.
In an instant, my situation dawns on me.
I'm being born!
No, that's impossible. I'm a 21 year old man. Which leads me to the only rational conclusion. A dream. Of course, I'm dreaming.
I close my eyes, and count to five. My little trick for waking up.
Nothing.
On that day, in a little hut deep in a forest, a baby boy was born, silent as a mouse.
