Chapter 222: Chapter 223

Pieces of eggshell cascade from the Pokémon eggs.

The little companions held their breath, their eyes fixed on the Pokémon egg resting on the children's chair.

Ka!

Two tiny paws emerged from the eggshell, playfully waving.

Togepi, a bit top-heavy, tumbled onto the chair, its round feet kicking in the air.

Gengar attempted to approach and assist Togepi, but Luke intervened.

"Stay calm."

Luke pulled out his phone and tapped the 'record' button.

"Let's capture this on video!"

Sharing the video in the group chat sparked lively conversations.

Teacher Luke: [Video]

Yellow from Viridian Forest: So adorable!

Lorelei: My heart is melting~~

Crystal: It's about to hatch!

As the designated "Hatcher," Gold opened the video, looking pleasantly surprised.

"Is that the Togepi from Professor Elm's backyard?"

"Yes."

Crystal confirmed, "Professor thought it might learn from you, so he entrusted it to Teacher Luke."

Gold's heart skipped a beat, his face turning pale.

Darn it... there's no way to deny it!

"It's said that Togepi's eggshell brings good luck~~"

Green remarked with a smile, "If you don't mind, you can sell the dropped eggshell to me!"

"Don't show your profiteering side at a time like this..." Blue commented.

"Ah...I actually have a few items suitable for newborn Pokémon in my collection," Green suggested, blinking.

Brock, with a dry cough, added, "Togepi will consider the first Trainer it sees as family. Having it follow Teacher Luke is a stroke of luck!"

Luke was slightly taken aback.

Initially, he planned to wait for Togepi to hatch before returning it to Professor Elm.

But Brock's words stirred something within Luke.

"Hurry up and hatch."

Luke gazed at the round eggshell, smiling:

"Everyone, get ready!"

"Vui~~"

Sylveon used a ribbon to help Togepi stand, and it tumbled down again.

After a few tries, Togepi finally stood on its own.

Ka!

Togepi poked its head out of the eggshell.

Covered in a white shell, with chubby little hands and feet protruding, it blinked its bright eyes at Luke and happily waved its tiny hand.

"Kek ke ke ke~~ ~(❁´◡`❁)✲゚"

Luke was pleasantly surprised, a smile forming on his face.

"Jie jie~~"

Gengar chuckled, extending a hand toward Togepi.

Togepi tilted its head, held Gengar's paw, and shook it excitedly.

"Kek ke ke ke~~~! (ノ´▽`)ノ♪" (You scream~~!)

"It looks healthy," Luke laughed.

He had been concerned that he might have a negative impact on Togepi.

From this perspective... he seemed to be more reliable than Gold!

Opening the Pokédex, Luke glanced at the data.

[Togepi, Fairy

Gender:

Ability: Serene Grace

Moves: Charm, Growl, Present, Metronome]

Togepi is celebrated as the "God Blessed" Pokémon, mainly owing to its 'Serene Grace' Ability. Luke couldn't help but think to himself: given my luck, obtaining the 'super lucky' Ability may be a challenge. Tapping his chin in contemplation, he noted that there was nothing particularly noteworthy in terms of moves. Genetic employed the 'Present' move and Togepi's signature move, 'Metronome'. With the assistance of the 'Serene Grace' Ability and Kings Rock, it appeared that Togepi was well-suited for its Items.

Luke found himself in a moment of reflection when, unexpectedly, Togepi, swaying on the dining table, accidentally took a tumble, causing a worried change in Teacher Luke's expression. By chance, Togepi landed on Growlithe.

With a thud, it rolled to the floor, kicking its feet joyfully.

"Kek ke ke ke~~ ~~(≧∀≦)♪"

Luke relaxed, "Well done, Growlithe!"

"ao wu (O_o)??"

Growlithe had question marks floating above its head. It fell on me on its own... I didn't even pick it up!

Sylveon, observing Luke's excited expression, felt a twinge of jealousy. Yet, upon reflection, having an additional helper could enhance the owner's journey to championship glory. So, Sylveon snorted and gracefully approached the spinning wheel.

The light bulb on top of the scrolling wheel flickered, prompting Luke to open the chat group.

The group was actively discussing the newly hatched Togepi.

"Curious to know what kind of personality this Pokémon has," remarked Yellow.

"It's probably cuter than Gold's Togepi," Silver calmly added.

"Hey! Togepi is cute too!" Gold protested.

Speaking up, Crystal with a slight smile said, "Teacher Luke's Togepi is like Togebo's little brother or sister."

"It's a little sister," Luke confirmed. "I checked."

"Alright! Next time, I'll come visit Togepi!" Gold declared.

Turning to Togebo, Gold shared the general situation. Even the initially hostile Togebo, upon hearing Gold's words, nodded reluctantly.

Never mind... If it's for the little sister, enduring a ride once won't hurt!

On the other side, Gengar was holding Togepi's tiny hand, helping it familiarize itself with the home environment.

Luke called Professor Elm, "Professor, Togepi has hatched."

"Oh, that's great! Thank you for taking care of it!"

"Actually..." Luke scratched his cheek, feeling a bit apologetic, "Can I keep Togepi?"

Togepi tends to recognize the Trainer it first sees as family. While it may have its own choices as it grows up, Teacher Luke felt a sense of responsibility.

"Of course, no problem!" Professor Elm laughed heartily. "I wanted to ask you that a long time ago!"

Luke was momentarily stunned.

Goodness, he had been scheming behind my back for quite some time now?

"It's said that if you treat it kindly, it'll share its luck with you," Professor Elm shared. "Thinking about it, Mr. Luke must be a lucky person too!"

Luke was slightly taken aback, his expression turning more serious. Is it time for a showdown between lucky person and not lucky?

After ending the call, Luke walked into the living room. However, his expression suddenly changed at the scene he witnessed. Togepi was holding a large bottle of Pepsi, happily gulping it down, with several open bags of potato chips in front of it.

"Jie jie~!!!"

Gengar, acting like a concerned mother, circled the coffee table anxiously.

"Kek ke ke ke~~~~!"

Togepi set the Coke down, belched loudly, and joyfully kicked its feet.

Luke: ???

Good grief, have I been raising a little couch potato for the past half a month?!

Luke, with a stern expression, walked up to Togepi and stared at the little one.

"Understood?" Togepi tilted its head.

"You're not allowed to drink Pepsi," Luke corrected, swapping Togepi's bottle for Coca-Cola. "This is the proper choice!"
