Chapter 59: Summoning

Limy and I went straight down to the basement, and from there entered the dungeon. The moment I walked through the door the counter started running again.

“I guess that's why dungeon cores are considered to be the heart of the dungeon. Much like a heart pumps blood through the veins, dungeon cores pump power through the halls... I can probably forget about the idea of leaving rooms directly inaccessible.”

Luckily the dungeon didn't disappear during the time I was out, so even if it was completely inactive there was no need to worry about it self-destructing or anything of the sort.

"Okay, nothing I can do to speed up the construction of the room, so let’s leave it aside for the time being and focus on the main thing."

I had no idea how to summon a demon, but I figured that singing some reggaeton themes backwards may be a good starting point... I had a high resistance to dementia after all, so I guess I should be fine... probably…

Unaware of what was going on in a dungeon built on the basement of a certain house located in the capital of Talucay, Aeldrya found herself a few kilometers north on Cerbalon.

She had wandered off to a lonely spot to complete a couple of low grade quests that she had taken on simply to kill time and blow off some steam. She didn't even care about the reward. Moreover, she had actually already finished those quests a while ago. At the moment it seemed like all she cared about was just butchering every monster that came herway.

An arrow was released from her bow, seemingly without a fixed target. Anyone witnessing the scene would think that she was shooting foolishly. However, the dying scream of a monster could be heard just a fraction of a second later. The very same set of actions were repeated several times. With an impressive display of accuracy, an arrow that was aimed at the sky brought down a monster that was flying past at full speed.

Aeldrya seemed to have turned into a ruthless and bloodthirsty hunter. Her face was serious and somber. If anyone ran into her at that moment, they would likely move out of her way as fast as they could for fear of dying simply from a look from her. And that would be, without a doubt, the wisest thing to do at the moment.

When she finally seemed to have cooled down enough, she put the bow away and took out a piece of paper, which turned out to be none other than the rank four quest she had surreptitiously hidden after taking it from Limy.

"Perhaps it was a bad idea to stay for so long in the same place."

The paper was crumpled into a ball under her grip before she put it away again. Her gaze was lost on the horizon to the northwest of Talucay as she, without realizing it, placed her hand on the hilt of the dagger she always carried with her and started stroking it slowly with her thumb.

“I've been living in this city for ten years now. Until now I have managed to not stand out the least, but it seems that this quiet life will soon come to an end... I guess it was not a very good idea to leave that there. It almost seems like a miracle that they haven't found it yet.”

At that moment she turned towards Cerbalon and her forehead wrinkled for a moment.

“A dungeon in my basement… It might not be as bad as I thought in the end. Maybe I could use it in case of…”

Her eyes closed and she let out a heavy sigh of resignation before lifting her gaze to the sky.

"I guess it may be time to take a long trip."

She started walking back home, but after two steps he turned back and faced again towards the northwest.

“It's been… two hundred years since then… but the storm continues to rage with no sign of ending…”

"Well, let's see how this demon summoning works. Helpy, tell me a bit about summoning demons.”

[When the demons were locked away, and seeing how the only way to escape from their prison was through the power of a dungeon core, the demon lords used their power to make a pact with their god. They agreed to link their existence to the dungeon core and serve under the dungeon master as long as their conditions were accepted first.]

“All that is very interesting, but what I really want to know is how to summon one.”

[Summoning a demon is difficult and consumes a large amount of power. Furthermore, the stronger the demon, the more difficult it is to summon. Because of that, it is not possible to know with certainty how many points are needed to summon a demon.

The first step in the summoning ritual is to give the demon a name. The moment the summoner accepts the demon's terms, the demon commits to serve under that name.

You can specify the requirements that the demon must meet, such as gender, age, or race. If a demon with such characteristics heeds the call, provided that the core is powerful enough, the ritual will begin.]

“I see… Then I want… a succubus! Yeah, a damn succubus would be perfect! I want a mature woman, not a little girl like Limy!"

Knowing that I didn't need something like sacrifices or anything like that was a weight off my shoulders. Actually, it looked a lot simpler than I assumed it would be. The only problem was… that naming was not really my strongest suit.

"Limy, what should we name her?"

"I don't know, master.”

“Mmmmm, let's see, let's see… I know! How about Dabla?”

"Master, isn't that very simple?"

“Well, you have a point there… After all, I had only taken the word ‘diablo’, feminized it, and then removed one letter from it... wait, is ‘diabla’ even a word? Probably not… Bah, it wasn't that bad either, right?”

“Master, did you use a similar method to decide my name as well?”

“Not at all! I spent a lot of time trying to come up with a special name before creating you.”

“Glad to hear that, master.”

‘Well,I did spend a lot of time with a certain slime before coming up with the name, although I didn’t actually give much thought to the name itself… so that wasn’t entirely a lie I guess... Although being the way she is, I don't think she cares much where her name came from…’

“If my name was chosen at random I would feel quite sad, it's lucky that master cares so much about me.”

“Of course, you will always be my number one!"

‘I'm screwed, I better keep quiet about this…’

"Well, let's get started.”

I stood at the end of the corridor, ready to start the ritual... and then I realized something... I had spent all my dungeon points.

“Crap… Dungeon!”

Dungeon:

Name: Nameless

Level: 1 | Improvement: 5000/20000

Dungeon Points: 163

Abilities:

create entry

create monster

create room

“This could be a bit an issue.”

I was seriously regretting having converted my points into upgrading the dungeon just the day before. Anyway, there were still 163 dungeon points left, so I should be able to summon something with that many points, right? Helpy had said before that there wasn’t a specific amount of points needed for the summoning, so I figured I may as well give it a try anyway.

"Whatever... let's give this a shot."

I quickly chose the criteria the demon should meet:

- Name: Dabla

- Gender: Female

- Age: As long as it is an adult, I'm fine.

Just to be on the safe side, I decided to convertall my remaining mana into dungeon points, so that the total amount of points reached at least 200, and then gave the order to start the ritual. At that moment my body started to glow and a large magic circle began to form before me. Slowly, lines and characters I could not comprehend began to form in it. Once the magic circle was complete, it began to shine with great intensity, in such a way that the light prevented me from seeing anything inside the room.

"Is this working?"

I was super excited. Even though the light was still partially blinding me, I managed to make out a humanoid silhouette standing in the middle of the circle. When the light finally started to fade, I fixed my gaze on the figure and checked it from top to bottom. She had silky black hair cut slightly above her shoulder. Just above her ears sprouted a pair of small downward-curving horns, it’s length shy of 10 centimeters. From her back grew a pair of small bat-like wings that flapped a few times, while I couldn’t help but stare at them. A thin black tail, ending with an arrow-like tip, was sticking out on her right side. Finally, on her face, a pair of red eyes stood out, looking defiant, while her mouth showed a smug smile, on which a pair of slightly pointed canines could be seen.

The summoning had been a resounding success. I had summoned a real demon, and not only that, I got it done on the first try, and with great ease. Everything was magnificent... except for a tiny tiny detail….

"Why the fuck is it a little girl?! And one even smaller than Limy!”
