Chapter 23: Old enemy.

Margaret came after a while, took Sofia away, and I went home to prepare for the mission to eliminate Jack. On my way, I bought a nice card, and with my ink, I wrote a message on it. I placed the card in my sniper case to ensure I didn't forget it.

Later, I called Margaret. "Tomorrow is his death. Do you know where he will be?" I asked directly.

"That bastard will be at a party. He's always heavily guarded, and many of my enemies will be there, making it difficult to approach," she explained.

"No, that's perfect. I want to send them a message so that no one will target Sofia again," I argued.

"What's your plan?" she asked.

"It's a surprise. You'll find out, and in fact, the whole city will know," I replied confidently.

"Alright, I trust you," she said before we hung up. I was about to take a shower when my phone rang again.

"Hello, Clara, how are you doing?" I greeted.

"I'm fine, you?" she asked.

"All good. Do you need something?" I inquired.

"No... umm, do you have time tomorrow? Maybe we can meet?" she asked.

"Oh, I can't. I have a very important job tomorrow, and after that, I'm heading for a training session to break through," I explained.

She stayed silent for a while. "Alright, good luck," she finally said, then hung up.

I tossed my phone onto the bed and headed for the shower.

---

"He said he has a big job tomorrow, after which he will go to break through," Clara murmured.

Marline sighed, "Don't overthink it. He probably does have a significant job. Why don't you call Margaret?"

Clara did just that.

"Hey Margaret, how have you been?" Clara inquired.

"I broke through! I'm a general now, hahahaha," Marline proudly announced.

Both Clara and Marline were surprised. "Is it one of Noah's pills?" Clara asked.

"Yeah, that man is a gift. I'll have to thank Elen for sending him my way," Marline praised.

Clara felt her heart tighten. "Congratulations. Oh, by the way, do you know what big job Noah is doing tomorrow?"

Margaret was taken aback, thought for a moment, and then answered, "He's going to assassinate Jack Gomez."

Boom.

Marline stood up, Clara's face turned pale. The mention of Jack and assassination was enough to bring back memories of Noah's intense hatred for gangs.

"We have to stop him. Jack is a Rank 4, and he has a lot of Rank 4s with him," Clara urgently stated.

"No, he has a trump card, I've seen it. If he uses that trump card, he will succeed," Margaret mentioned.

Marline's eyes lit up with curiosity. "What's this trump card that could allow a Rank 2 to kill a Rank 4?" she wondered.

"What's that trump card?" Clara asked.

"Do you think I'm going to reveal my future boss's secret to you?" Margaret taunted.

"Future boss?" Clara was taken aback.

Marline's eyes also widened, and the pieces began to fall into place.

"Oh, are you in love with Noah?" Margaret teased.

Clara realized her mistake and turned red. "It's none of your business!" she retorted.

Margaret laughed. "Actually, it's very much my business."

"How so?" Clara inquired.

"You see, Noah took my daughter Sofia as his sister, so now I'm like his mother or something," Margaret explained with a chuckle.

"What! He did?" Clara was in shock.

Taking someone as your brother, sister, child, or disciple was a serious matter in this world. Such bonds were often valued more than blood ties.

Marline was also shocked, finally understanding why Noah would want Margaret as his assistant and why he would go after Jack. It was all for the sake of his sister.

----

I woke up and dressed in a black tracksuit, putting on my glasses. I grabbed my sniper, saber, and mask. I left my sniper in a hotel about 4 kilometers away from Jake's party venue, ensuring I had a clear view from the window. With my saber in hand and my mask hidden in my tracksuit, I took a taxi to where I used to live, ready to confront the old gang. It was time to finish the job, and with this saber, I had a better chance.

This time, I didn't bother knocking. I put on my mask, kicked the door open, and barged in. They were in the middle of a meeting, so my sudden appearance caught them off guard. I unsheathed my blade and swung it with full force, cutting one of the gang members in half. I paused, and the entire gang was in shock.

A chilling smile spread across my face, sending shivers down their spines. Without hesitation, I launched another attack, cutting my way through them. Screams and pleas for help echoed throughout the building.

"You finally showed yourself, you coward!" yelled the gang's leader, who wasted no time and began assaulting me with his hammer.

I blocked his swing, and that was a big mistake; I was sent flying.

"Ugh, fucking bear."

"You are too weak to think you can kill me, boy; I will feed you...."

SWING, I cut his words in the middle with his right ear.

"Don't brag, you fool," I mocked. And I swinged at him like a madman—no technique, no style, just raw strength.

I depend on my sharp saber. And my strategy woke up; his hammer was cut.

"Where did you get that saber? I will take it from your dead body soon," he said. He threw his hammer and charged at me like a bull.

I focused, and when he was close, I sidestepped to the left, moving my saber slightly forward.

With his speed and my sharp blade, when his stomach touched the blade, it was cut open.

He was too shocked to speak; his organs threatened to fall out of his body.

I didn't give him time to understand what happened; I dashed with my leaping dragon movement technique and cut his big head clean.

I felt relieved.

I gave the frozen six gangsters a look; they were about to leave. With my little strength left, I charged at them and killed them like bugs.
