Chapter 3: Chapter 1: Just How High Is My Luck (Part 2)

After the school noticed that it was unlikely Tosh would wake up since he had been unconscious for 3 hours, Tosh was rushed to the hospital where he stayed unconscious for 2 days straight.

When he woke up he felt horrible, it was comparable to how you feel after you throw-up and have a migraine at the same time.

But in short, he felt horrible.

"Why do such weird things keep happening to me today..? First I wake up like this, and then I get knocked unconscious by something strange…" His voice trailed off and his eyes widened, and his little bibliophile mind went into overdrive.

(bibliophile - an individual who loves and frequently reads books.)

'Oh my god, did I actually just get a system on top of becoming a vampire..?!' His thoughts were chaotic but with a shaky voice he called out.

"System..?"

[Yes?]

He received a response!

His eyes had widened even more to the point where saying 'like saucers' would be an understatement.

His breathing became haggard and he started shaking, if anyone saw him they'd think he was having withdrawal symptoms.

[Host, are you alright..?]

There was no response.

[Host..?]

There was still no response.

A few moments later Tosh regained his calm and muttered softly.

"Just how high is my luck…?"

[I can answer that if you'd like.]

"Wait what?"

[You see Host, this is your 3rd life and in your first 2 lives you helped many people, the number is just barely breaking a billion, so the amount of Karma you have is immense.]

"T-two lives..? What- So your saying that I'm-"

[Precisely.]

At this point Tosh's eyes rolled into the back of his head due to over-excitement and he directly fainted.

His little mind could not handle the burden of a bibliophile who constantly dreams of becoming a powerful protagonist. The euphoria that he felt was just too much.

However he woke up moments later.

"Okay, okay, okay."

He took a deep breath and calmed himself down, his expression changed to one of seriousness.

"So what kind of system are you?"

[I'm a sign-in type system, although unlike the basic types I have artificial intelligence and I can communicate with you, Host.]

"I see…"

As a reader, Tosh's brain worked differently from normal peoples, despite being so shocked and excited that he fainted, his mind was still trying to see through the plot.

'I somehow become a vampire, plus I receive a system on the same day within mere hours of each other… This obviously is not normal.'

As his mind raced, other things were happening in the world.

——————————

Vatican Branch #0062.

In a large office with a super long table, 13 people were seated, one at the head of the table and six on the other two sides.

From this you could obviously tell there was a hierarchy, and the one at the head of the table is the big boss.

"Susan, please tell us why you called for an emergency meeting? Other than a few low-level dogs and witches there's been nothing significant."

The one at the head of the table, Norman said.

"Branch leader I've found a vampire within the city, and it seems to be newborn, however-"

The room immediately descended into chaos when the Branch Leader, Norman slammed his fist on the table with a dark expression.

"HOW! I thought HQ drove those mosquitos away! How have they come back?! We closed the rift!" Norman shouted, confusion and rage evident in his voice.

"Right? It should be impossible for them to appear here, much less this far from the original location of the rift!" Someone else joined in.

Heated discussions started to drown out the second half of Susan's sentence, and veins started to pop out of her forehead.

"LIKE I WAS SAYING."

Her voice boomed and silenced the chatter of her colleagues.

"I could not identify who turned the vampire, meaning that this one is not from the original 12 Night Clans."

Shocked gasps resounded in the office.

Susan's face turned black and her voice was incredibly stern.

"I assume you all know what this means, right?"

"This means that within the last thousand years, a new and probably more powerful generation has appeared. We must inform HQ."

The Branch Leader, Norman, shook his head and snorted.

"Heh, inform HQ? No. We can deal with a single mosquito ourselves. In your phone-call you said you found him at the school, correct? Then find where he lives and we can tap his house and wait for any strange movements, to be precise, when he goes out to feed."

The rest nodded, although Susan looked indignant she also agreed.

——————————

Tosh's house.

Tosh was now at home lying on top of his bed with a wide smile on his face, he was still feeling the bliss of becoming a protagonist.

"Since I'm the main character I can't be too rash anymore, the luck of a main character can be poor sometimes, especially because I basically exposed to the world that I'm a vampire." He muttered.

His eyes brightened as he made a decision.

[Signed in at 'Tosh's House'!]

[Received: 1,000,000 USD]

Tosh's eyes widened as he spoke.

"What the hell? A million dollars on the first sign-in?! I mean it's not as cool as a sword or some ancient treasure or even some ancient god's blood essence, but it's still decent."

[Host, you can't get those types of things here… This planet doesn't have the necessary energy for the system to draw those types of High-Grade items. So you can only receive items relevant to this planet and era, however if you somehow stumble upon relics from way back in the cultivation era then it is possible.]

"I see, that makes sense I guess, well since I need to be careful as a reader I need to analyze everything I've done today and think about any loopholes. However I'll save that for later, first it's time to go shopping, I need to dye my hair back." He muttered as he opened his phone and scrolled through amazon.

He bought a high quality type of dye and a myriad of clothes, then ordered it through prime so that it could come in a day.

"Now that that's done-"

*𝘎𝘳𝘰𝘸𝘸𝘸𝘸𝘭..*

His stomach growled abruptly and his fangs popped out at full length.

The only thought on his mind was "Food." And this single thought seemed to overpower everything else and stand at the forefront of his consciousness, practically making it the only thing he thought about for the brief moment.

And then he went back to normal as if nothing happened.

Tosh shook his head as he had already anticipated such a thing since he knew a lot already.

"Well, it's just my luck that my family happens to own a hospital."

And with that, he left the house in the middle of the night and snuck into his family's hospital.
