Chapter 2: Talent! Reroll! Heal!

'Open status!'

Yayoi now focuses on himself, ready to explore the system. The most important thing now is to recover. At least he should be able to get out of bed and have some means to defend against malicious people.

And the key to a quick recovery...Yayoi could only hope to rely on the system.

This backward village is just a tiny and reclusive place next to a mountain range in You Province, Youzhou—extreme northeast of the dynasty.

Famine in the north is getting more severe by the day. The situation is dire. Not to mention the good chance of getting involved with demons and becoming a living sacrifice... Who knows when the Yellow Turban Thieves will overrun this village?

Suddenly, a near-transparent interface that only Yayoi could see appeared, floating in front of his face.

The knowledge just comes to mind.

[Name: Long Aotian(25)]

[Title: None]

[Class: Classless]

[Disposition: Pervert]

[Level: 6 (0/1500)]

[EXP: 0]

[Legend: 0]

[Status: Heavily injured/crippled]

[Skills: Basic Spearmanship(lvl2), Basic Swordsmanship(lvl1)]

[Attributes(A picture of a heptagon, each angle represents a different attribute)(The rank of attributes are divided into Common, Rare, Heroic, Legendary, Mythical):

Strength(Rare): 7

Dexterity(Common): 4

Constitution(Rare): 10

Qi(Rare): 9

Intelligence(Common): 12

Mana(Common): 2

Luck(Common): 10

[Stat Points: 6]

[Skill Points: 6]

'Level 6... It's probably the level of this body that I inherited.' Yayoi looks at the status thoughtfully.

'Is this a blessing? At least I don't have to start at lvl 1.'

Long Aotian was tall and robust.

He used to be a soldier with the potential to become a small-time captain of 100 men, serving under one of the commanderies in the province a few years back.

Anyway, Long Aotian wasn't such trash back then. It wasn't until he confronted the rebels and escaped with one leg injured. Later, he was kicked out of the army as a disabled soldier without any noteworthy achievements or merits.

Elixers are precious and expensive. Reputed doctors were helpless. Long Aotian couldn't fix his leg.

Dreams and ambitions dwindle to smoke.

He returned home to his wife and became decadent. While squandering all the wealth of the slightly well-off Long family, they have no choice but to give up their ancestral house. His parents died from anger at the time, and the few servants were dismissed. Later, with little money, they eventually moved to this small village.

'That roughly sums it up. After wasting several years with zero training, Long Aotian's strength diminished, and excessive alcohol dulled his sense. That explains why my Strength and Dexterity stats are so slow. They probably drop by at least 1 point each. What a sore loser.'

'System?'

"..."

"System?"

"..."

"Oh...too bad," Yayoi mumbled regretfully.

There is no reply from the system. Yayoi figured it was probably a dead system, or it just didn't want to talk to him. Thankfully, there is still some basic knowledge instilled in his mind.

'Let's see...I can get one free attribute point and one skill point for every level. Some attributes like Strength or Mana should be able to grow through some training. The speed of improvement is closely related to attribute rank. Talent! It's like a growth limit—distinguishing the talents in people.'

As for how to use the system to heal himself, Yayoi has already found a way.

The answer is to learn a skill and stop being classless.

There are currently seven common starter occupations available to choose from, namely: Warrior, Archer, Assasin, Mage, Priest, Tamer, and Farmer. There are also other rare or much more advanced classes like Necromancer/Cult Master/Harem Lord and many more... but all of them are temporarily locked.

Surprisingly, there are no restrictions on the number of classes he can have simultaneously. This makes Yayoi feel like a bugged character that could use all the skills in a game. Of course, except for the problem of limited skill points.

Regardless, the seven attributes are universal.

Unless Yayoi possesses Mythical rank on all attributes, he won't be able to exert the true power of all classes at once. After all, if his Mana talent is Common, the dream of summoning thunder and spamming meteors into the battlefield is all but a fantasy.

'Fortunately, my talent isn't fixed.'

At this moment, Yayoi looked at his status panel seriously. Knowing that he has ten chances to reroll the rank of all his attributes, he feels this is a precious opportunity to get a good start.

'Unless there are other ways to change the ranks of my attributes later, this will determine the direction of my future development.'

[Do you wish to reroll your talents?]

[Yes] [No]

System texts appeared on the status panel like a chat box.

'Hell yeah!' Yayoi confirmed.

A single reroll directly affects the rank of all seven attributes. Who would have thought altering someone's fate was so simple? There is nothing grand. It even makes him feel a little less excited.

Another message box appears, showing all the changes.

In this first reroll, except Intelligence and Luck leaped to Heroic rank. The rest are Common.

[Do you wish to proceed with the changes and replace them with the current attributes?]

'Yeah!' Yayoi chooses yes without hesitation.

Right after, his talents changed. His Strength, Qi, and Contistuition talent fell to Common. Except for the Intelligence stat that barely fluctuated, Yayoi's Luck jumped from 10 to 60 points. Other than that, everything pretty much remains the same.

Luck here is a vague concept. Yayoi only hopes that it will help in the next few rerolls.

On the second attempt, there are 2 Heroics, 2 Rares, and 3 Commons.

'Nope!'

On the third attempt, there are 4 Heroics and 3 Commons, including Luck.

'Nope!'

4 Heroics, Yayoi knows that this is far from enough. If he wants to make some waves in this world where demons and supernaturals exist, at least one of his attributes must be Mythical.

On the fifth attempt, a Legendary(Mana) talent appeared for the first time.

Finally, on the seventh attempt...

Strength(Mythical), Dexterity(Rare), Constitution(Heroic), Qi(Legendary), Intelligence(Heroic), Mana(Rare), Luck(Rare).

'What luck!'

[Do you wish to proceed with the changes and replace them with the current attributes?]

"Yes!"

Although this gacha-like operation was a little lacking for the grand prize, it didn't stop Yayoi from feeling excited.

There is no Common!

"Kekekeke!"

A little later, Yayoi continued with the last three rerolls. However, the result was disappointing. There are only Legendaries, and no Mythical talent appeared again.

When Yayoi's talent has finalized, he immediately opened the skill panel of the Priest. Every occupation has two learnable skills at level 1. After using 1 Skill Point, he learned [Heal].
