Chapter 11: It Was Him That Helped Her!
After the announcement was made, everyone had dispersed. And yes, Xia Ting has continued sulking and complaining silently until her manager escorted her away, leaving just Xing Yu and the director behind.
The director had decided to shoot other scenes without her in it first, as he felt that she would need the time to familiarise herself. He had barked the instructions to the assistant director, who scurried to get everything in order. Xing Yu was surprised by his consideration. She was sure that he would've insisted she begin filming immediately, hopefully in order to undermine her abilities in front of everyone!
Xing Yu was quick to accept though. No matter how much she had familiarised herself with the script, she still wanted to prepare some more, since she hadn't been rehearsing the role of the main lead seriously up till now.
Xing Yu stood numbly in the same spot, and a slow smile crept onto her face. She was feeling extraordinarily good. She had not only secured the lead role, but even managed to give everyone a good face-slapping! A part of her was slightly sad at giving up her previous role since she really liked the character, but she was very satisfied with Huo Qiu Yue's character as well. She was already thinking about how she was going to do different scenes in her head!
"Liu Xing Yu... You're really something. You acted like such an upright person refusing to serve Mr Pang but now I know... he wasn't big enough for you!" Sneered Director Li, and it looked like he couldn't even control himself enough to maintain a civil tone with her.
This snapped her out of her thoughts, and Xing Yu looked at him with a polite smile. She was completely unruffled by his accusations as she herself knew the truth, but she still focused on his words curiously.
Observing his face, she noticed that his line of sight seemed to have focused on something behind her before he paled and scurried away quickly.
Xing Yu turned to see what he could've been looking at and saw Mo Rui Han outside his trailer. Although he looked like he had been in the middle of speaking to assistant, now his head was angled towards Xing Yu's direction, and she met his fierce gaze.
Everything clicked in her head.
She knew that StarTime would never help her since she hadn't done anything to curry their favour, so when Director Li mentioned that it was the company that pushed for her, she knew immediately that something was off.
Xing Yu was a smart woman, and she was very quick in figuring things out. She knew then that whoever was helping her had to be even more powerful than StarTime for the person to override their authority and also force Director Li to accept her!
That left only a few top-rate companies in the industry... one of which being Feng Yi, Mo Rui Han's personal company!
Everything added up. Director Li constantly looking to Mo Rui Han during their confrontation before, him being scared off by Mo Rui Han... and then there was her weird moment with him earlier...
Xing Yu was 100% sure that he was responsible, but she couldn't for the life of her understand why he would help her. She had never had any contact with him prior to this, and she was sure, being at the bottom of the industry, she had no connections with him!
Nonetheless, Xing Yu was grateful, and she was always one to show gratitude to those who helped her. She started to walk towards Mo Rui Han, and their gazes were still connected as she made her way over.
Although he was very overpowering, and Xing Yu had respected him for years, those factors were not what caused the antsy feeling inside. She felt like the way he was looking at her was extremely intense, and coupled with how they had stared at each other previously already, Xing Yu was feeling slightly fluttery inside.
Outside though, she was a paragon of calmness. She finally reached him and greeted both him and his assistant.
"Mr Lu," she said politely as she lowered her head towards Lu Man. Although he was an assistant, everyone knew about him. He was Mo Rui Han's right hand man, and frankly, his looks and background would've made him a star if he chose to enter the trade!
Lu Man accepted her greeting and gave her an amicable smile, before sneaking a glance at his friend.
"..." Lu Man almost choked on his own saliva. Boss... don't stare at her like you're gonna eat her up! Although he was still not showing much expressions, Lu Man could tell from his gaze alone that he was extremely drawn to Liu Xing Yu.
Lu Man was great at reading between the lines, so he made up some excuse and left, allowing his friend some time with the stunning black-haired beauty. He had never seen Mo Rui Han look so enamoured, and he curiously peeked over his shoulder even as he was leaving.
He could see them interacting, and Lu Man was dying inside to know what they were saying!
