Chapter 2: The Saint
The sun shone brightly, birds were chirping loudly and the Life was sleeping soundly. A ray of light had shone down on her wonderful black hair. Her eyelashes trembles slightly before her she slowly opened her almond brown eyes.
"Life, wake up. I heard some people saying that the saint has already arrived. If you don't wake up soon then you might not even get a chance to take a peek." Her mother bellowed. Seeing that her daughter she was astounded to see that after she stretched her arms after sitting down she immediately lied back down.
She gave an amused laugh, she stood up but just as she was standing up, the baby suddenly cried out.
"Shhh, Hush. Are you hungry? Should mommy give you milk?" Her tone of voice comforted her child as she then carried it in her bosom to feed it some milk.
Meanwhile, Life was alarmed by the sound of her little brother crying so she was awoken completely only to find that she had overslept. She could only sigh as she could only blame herself as she remembered how difficult it was to sleep last night because she was too excited.
She then immediately fixed herself as fast as she could. She then went out after saying farewell to her mother. She immediately dashed from street to street turning at every corner only to find that a huge crowd had already been formed and the Saint's parade had already begun.
There were three carriages that were making its way towards the local church, thirty soldiers were flanking the parade. Seeing the carriages she immediately knew which one the Saint was ridding on. The one in the middle had a wonderful and elegant design. It showed that only those who were important could only enjoy such luxuries. Not just that, the soldiers that were guarding the middle carriage obviously had a lot more in number.
Life who had just arrived had seen her friends, they had also seen her so they met up and began talking about the saint.
"Life! Where have you been? It's too bad you didn't get to see the Saintess. She had just gone back inside her carriage." A boy who was at the same age as Life told her.
"She was really beautiful!" Another boy added.
"I think that you might still have a chance. I heard that she gives out blessings when she gets to the church, we might even be able to see and talk to the Saintess." A girl who resembled the boy who spoke earlier had cut in and continued.
Life was surprised to find out that it was actually a Saintess yet she also felt jealous that her friends had already managed to see her appearance yet she hadn't.
"Really! Then that's great! Let's get there before it gets crowded like this street." Life excitedly said as she thought of seeing the Saint upfront and close. She then rushed alongside her friends as they went towards the church.
The moment they got to the church they saw a short line had formed. "I think this is the line to receive the Saintess's blessings." Another one of Life's friends said.
"Then what are you waiting for? Let's join them so that we can be blessed by the Saintess when she comes here!" The children then immediately went towards the end of the line where they waited for the Saint's arrival.
After minutes of waiting, they had finally seen the carriage that the Saintess was ridding and it looked like the Saint was about to get off.
Life was obviously excited as this was a one in a hundred chance to see someone of higher status to come to their tiny town.
When the Saintess had stepped out of her carriage, Life saw what she looked like. The Saintess was a woman on her mid-twenties, she had a kind smile and was waving at the people who had surrounded her.
She looked a lot younger than what Life had imagined, she thought that he would be a lot older. Regardless, Life felt her heart beating so fast. Her friends had similar feelings. Some even thought that they could brag about this when they arrived home.
