Chapter 93: Not At All Practical
"Do you ever think about driving off a bridge just because you can?"
Arius immediately thought of a term he'd heard of, "L'appel du vide?"
"Huh?"
"It means 'call of the void'." Arius glanced at her expression of wonder. "Do you want me to drive off a bridge?"
"Yes. But no. Not at all practical.... but… exciting."
The way she responded was relatively normal, however, Arius decided that today was the day that he would be the opposite of normal.
"Exciting?" Without warning, and while Ignoring all else that she had said, he made a smooth motion and gripped tightly to the comfortably made wheel, turning it quickly. It was so stupid and perfect, how he menueved the car to drive off the road just right so that the car would turn over and roll into a grassy ditch.
The sound of things crashing was loud. Zuna shook in disbelief, reaching up to the roof of the car and holding onto the door in order to stay stable. She turned to him with wide eyes both full of excitement and disapproval. 'What the hell? He was aware I'm not wearing a seatbelt, right?'
He was grinning so idiotically as he let go of the wheel and released the gas pedal, moving to grab her. She'd let her hold on the car door go as she was pulled towards him in a moment of almost zero gravity.
Outside the car window, everything cycled. He'd chosen quite a steep ditch to fall into, and by the time the vehicle stopped rolling Zuna was clutched within his arms. It had stopped with the drivers side against the ground, and glass shards were sprinkled everywhere.
Ignoring the fading ache from having been tossed around, Zuna tried to get up but felt the distinct trickle of blood. Without having to guess, she knew Arius had gotten cut up. At least, she wasn't the type to cause physical injury. "I understand that you can came back to life, but why'd you do this to your car?"
Arius laughed, not showing any discomfort or pain from his injuries. "I wouldn't be able to get rid of it otherwise."
Such a weird reason.
She moved slowly and carefully, her body had been thrown onto his, and now lifting herself up, she suddenly didn't know where to place her legs that had found themselves entangled with his.
His hand was on the back of her head and with her movement, Arius noticed he'd been cut on his arms from the glass, though he didn't pay it any heed, as just inches away he could see her mesmerizingly hazel irises.
Her face felt warmer as she realized now how close they were. She could kiss him right then if she wanted to, and the little voice at the back of her mind telling her to act spontaneously was abuzz.
He wanted to tease her. In his bliss, he could feel her breath on his skin, and just as was about to speak he watched her pupils move from his eyes, downwards. His words we caught in his throat and he almost choked when her head lowered. Her lips landed on his in the most unskillful and perfect way.
Her mind was blank now as the thought of what she was doing eclipsed any rationality. She wasn't prepared for Arius to suddenly take control and pull her in deeper, seemingly knowing what he was doing as he titled his head to better capture her lips and gain access to her mouth.
His hands were now on either side of her face. There was a seriousness in the way he cupped her burning cheeks that she hadn't seen in him before.
He slowly separated from her, yet as if he hadn't had enough he took advantage of her daze to peck her lips once more. In a state of shock she ducked her head and hid her red face in the crease of his neck. After feeling disorientation started to fade and after thinking about her actions, she mumbled, "Not at all practical..."
