Chapter 1: Ye Yuyan and his Four Wives
"I can't be with you anymore," said Ye Yuyan as he glanced at the four women before him with a solemn face. "I decided to descend to the Mortal World."
"What?!" All three women exclaimed while the other was unimpressed.
The other wore a phoenix-style dress and glamorous hair slanting at the back of her seductive waist. Her beast-like crimson eyes, yet drop-dead gorgeous face, appeared nonchalant to her husband's decision.
She seemed to be careless about whether her husband would die or not.
"What do you mean? What about us?" Cai Lin asked.
Cai Lin wore a green dress with a feather-like scale on its surface as she waved her arm with an agitated face.
She was in disbelief at her husband's decision.
Before Ye Yuyan could even reply, Cai Lin was impatient as she continued with tears forming in her eyes:
"Have you forgotten what I am to you? I am your Beast Companion and, at the same time, your second wife.
Although I came in second place, we spent more time than her!" She pointed at the woman in a phoenix-style dress.
"And?" Cai Lin shot a glare at the latter. "Why do you appear calm about this?"
"Cai Lin, calm down," said Ye Yuyan softly. "I already told Feng Bao about this, so you don't have to be furious at her."
"And you left us three for such an important decision to be discussed?" Cai Lin retorted.
"There's no need for discussion." Ye Yuhan shook his head. "I already told her yesterday. But I did not inform her about my decision regarding the right to have my wealth.
After all, If I descend to the Mortal World, I have to enter the rebirth. So I can't bring my wealth with me."
The four women were taken aback, and before they could even regain their composure, Feng Bao replied, "You should have told me that earlier.
I only want the Fire Forest Lake, the special training ground perfect for us Phoenixes. If our Feng Family owns it, it will be a great boon to the future generation."
"You bitch!" Cai Lin flew into anger. "You have already anticipated this, do you?"
Feng Bao was silent and did not even glance at Cai Lin.
Ye Yuyan nodded and replied, "I understand. That will be yours. You can own the rights after giving this seal of acknowledgment to Du Chao."
Ye Yuyan motioned his fingers like he was writing, and surprisingly, words appeared in mid-air. It floated until it was finished to be written by Ye Yuan, and then with a slight push of his fingers, it hovered towards Feng Bao, who received it.
The seal had already solidified when it was caught by her husband.
Feng Bao stared at her husband the entire time, even when she caught it.
Her bestial-like phoenix eyes flashed with concern and sorrow, but it did not last long and disappeared.
She turned her back against them and started to walk to the grandiose palace double door.
When she neared the double door, it opened itself in a gentle manner.
Feng Bao paused her steps, not turning her head to them, and she opened her mouth and said:
"I wish you good luck in your journey, my love."
With that, she disappeared after the door closed with a soft sound.
"That bitch is still faking it in the end, huh!" Cai Lin muttered. "Why didn't she just admit she only wanted the wealth of yours, husband?"
"Enough." Ye Yuyan shook his head.
"What about you?" Ye Yuyan asked Cai Lin.
Cai Lin was stunned, lowered her head, and asked meekly, "I don't want to be separated from you, husband.
If possible, I want to accompany you."
"Really?" Ye Yuyan smiled. "Even if it's your life at stake?"
"T-Thats…"
Ye Yuyan sighed.
"You don't have to force yourself, Cai Lin."
Cai Lin felt her heartache when her husband called her by her name.
"I know you really well. Just like you said, we spent most of our time, but only when I ascended in the Immortal Realm.
I know your cautious personality, and you certainly loved your life the most.
Hence, there's no need to force yourself to accompany me."
Cai Lin was about to reply when Lucas cut her off.
He was not done yet.
"Also, my mind is set, and it will not change.
I have firmly decided to descend to the Mortal World, and none of you can't force me not to."
Cai Lin lowered her head; tears started to fall to the ground.
She nodded in understanding, and Ye Yuyan decided not to hasten her and asked his other wives instead.
Throughout the entire time, his heart was set in stone, and his emotions stayed the same, even when the dear of his life, his wife, was weeping in front of him.
"What do you want, Fenghuang Longnu? Just state it, and I will give it to you depending on if I can provide it."
Fenghuang Longnu, with scales on her skin and face but still charming nonetheless, fell into deep contemplation.
She then stared at her husband and said, "I know your decision has been set, and it will be difficult to change.
So, no matter what I want to say, whether to stop you or express my love for you, it will be futile."
Lucas nodded in satisfaction.
"So I will go along with your decision."
Her bestial eyes, more ferocious and oppressive compared to Feng Bao, narrowed.
"I want to become a Guardian of your Empire as I await your return. In exchange, I hope Du Chao will provide my needs and will ask me first regarding the change he wants for your Empire."
Lucas was taken aback and then sighed.
"It will be impossible since I will be spending my life in the Mortal Realm."
Fenghuang Longnu did not reply, but her gaze did not change.
"Okay, I understand. But where do you want to live?"
"To the Mountain Peak. I want to live reclusively, so there should be no one hiking or resting in that place beside me," replied Fenghuang Longnu.
"I understand. Give this seal to Du Chao."
Fenghuang Longnu nodded as she received the seal in her hand.
They were not the same seal since the word was different compared to the seal Feng Bao received.
Fenghuang Longnu started to walk to the double door, and the same with Feng Bao, she bid a message… probably the last farewell to her husband.
"I bid you farewell, my love. I hope you will have a joyful journey and perhaps conquer the world again.
Well, for you, the Mortal World should be easy to conquer, no?"
"It will not be." Lucas smiled. "Since I will also be turning into Mortal."
'I forgot you don't know how rebirth works.' Lucas wanted to say.
"Then I will wait for your return."
Fenghuang Longnu started to walk to the other side, and the double door closed after her departure.
Ye Yuyan faced his last wife, the wife he cared the least.
He was about to ask her when Cai Lin interrupted him.
"Then, I will do the same with her," said Cai Lin as she fixed her gaze on Ye Yuyan. "Not only will I be the Guardian, but also manage the Empire on your behalf."
