Chapter 7: Attack The Sect.

Alex's startled voice rang out, "Wha... WHAT THE HELL IS HAPPENING!!!" as he was knocked down by the shockwave from the piece of the mountain.

"GET BACK INTO THE SECT NOW!!! IT'S DANGEROUS!!!" Elder's stern warning reached Alex's ears.

"What's happening, Sect Elder!!!" Alex questioned, but before he could get an answer...

BANG!!

Sect Elder blasted into the sky.

"Damn, all I wanted was a bath. My luck is rotten," Alex grumbled as he picked himself up from the ground.

Gazing up at the sky, he wondered, "An entire cliff... who the heck has that kind of power?" His feelings were mixed; he was excited at the prospect of gaining such strength himself, but worried about his return to Earth becoming even trickier if he had to deal with formidable cultivators.

"Whatever, let's just grab the pass and hit the showers," Alex mumbled to himself before heading towards the entrance.

--

High above, unseen by anyone, a young man with a bared chest and a crimson sword at his side stood with fiery red hair and eyes. His gaze was filled with animosity as he peered down at the sect below.

"IT'S YOU AGAIN!!! HONG FENG!!!" A booming voice echoed from the enormous mountain near the highest peak of the sect.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!

An aura explosion reverberated through the sect.

BANG!!!

Five figures shot up into the sky.

Hong Feng remained composed, his gaze fixed on the figures before him.

Leading the pack was a middle-aged man in crimson robes, his red hair matching his aura of disgust and disdain as he looked at Hong Feng.

Behind him were four old men clad in white robes.

"Disciple greets... father," Hong Feng spoke with an air of respect as he faced the man before him.

"JUST HOW MANY TIMES WILL YOU TRY, HONG FENG!!! DO YOU INTEND TO CLASH WITH THE SECT UNTIL THE END!!!" The middle-aged man in crimson robes roared with fury.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!

His aura erupted, scattering clouds in the sky.

Sling!!!

Hong Feng drew his sword, a slender katana with a blade as fine as a hair, and said, "I'll fight you as many times as it takes to defeat you!"

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!

The sky ignited with the clash of battle.

--

Back in the sect, panic was rampant. Most sought shelter, sensing the overwhelming aura that was crashing down upon them.

Except for one individual.

"Hey bro, can you hook me up with a pass to exit the sect? I smell worse than a trash heap, even a dumpster would be embarrassed to have me. Can't believe this place doesn't even have showers," Alex stood in a bustling pavilion where passes were distributed to disciples. It was a spacious building where missions could be taken to earn contribution points, something Alex had picked up from the chatter of other disciples.

The disciple at the counter gaped at Alex's cheerful demeanor. "Uhm, Junior Brother, are you aware of the current situation outside? You really wanna leave the sect right now?"

"Yeah, what's the big deal?" Alex nonchalantly inquired.

"Do you not feel that intense aura in the sky?" The disciple stared at Alex in disbelief.

"Aura? What aura?" Alex looked genuinely puzzled.

The disciple regarded him as though he were clueless.

He almost said something else but then just shook his head and swiftly wrote '1' on a talisman.

"Here, take this. You've got a week to return to the sect or you'll face consequences," the disciple sighed. "(Looks like Junior Brother might have a few screws loose)."

Alex happily pocketed the talisman, thanking the disciple, "Thanks, Senior Brother!!!"

--

Outside, Alex sprinted towards the sect's entrance. He glanced around and noticed the sect was practically deserted. Save for a few daring individuals, everyone else had retreated indoors.

He halted a passing disciple, eager to understand the situation. "Hey Senior Brother, care to fill me in on why everyone's in hiding? Does this have something to do with that mountain being sliced earlier?" Alex asked a handsome man in white robes as he walked along the road.

The handsome man looked ready to dismiss the inquiry, but when he saw Alex's innocent smile, he couldn't help but respond, "It appears Junior Brother is unaware, but for the past three decades, a maniac has been attacking the sect. Seriously, you don't sense anything? Their auras are insanely powerful."

Alex scratched his head, genuinely confused, "I don't really sense anything. So, a maniac, you say? Any idea why?"

The handsome man sighed, "No one knows his identity or motives. Every time the Sect Elders try to apprehend him, he somehow escapes, leaving behind only a trail of destruction. It's frustrating because with each encounter, he grows stronger, and more elders have to get involved."

Alex's thoughts raced, "(Sounds like someone has some serious beef with this sect. Well, I guess it's not too surprising, given that this is a Demon Sect.)"

"I see. Thanks, Elder Brother," Alex responded with a smile.

"No problem. There's also a rumor that he's the Sect Master's son, which might explain why they haven't taken more decisive action against him. But no one really knows for sure. Haa... I wonder when this conflict will end," the handsome man muttered, his gaze fixed on the sky.

"I hope it gets resolved soon," Alex chimed in before heading towards the sect's exit.

("(Why don't I feel anything though? They're up there fighting, as a cultivator, I should sense some energy, right?)" Alex pondered as he reached the exit.

"Elder???!! Elder, you back? Did you come back?" Alex called out at the cabin. No one was there.

Shrugging his shoulders, he left the pass there, thinking, "Alright, since there's no immediate danger and it's just one guy causing trouble, there's no need to wait around for the bath." With a deep breath, he ventured out of the sect.

--

In the sky, five figures faced off against one.

Hong Feng was already battered, his sword showing signs of cracks. He looked at the similarly bruised five individuals and remarked, "Huh... seems like this isn't enough!!!" Then he turned and tried to flee.

"DAMN IT!!! GET HIM!!" The man in crimson robes barked, commanding the other elders.

BANG!!! BANG!!! BANG!!!

The aerial battle raged on, but this time, one of the figures was attempting to break free from the encirclement, while the remaining four sought to restrain him.

After a few moments, Hong Feng produced a talisman and shattered it.

BOOOOOM!!!

A portal materialized in space, and he entered.

"DAMN IT!!! HE HAD A SPACE ESCAPE TALISMAN!!!"

"WHERE DID HE GET SUCH A PRECIOUS ITEM!!!"

"DO WE HAVE TO LET HIM ESCAPE AGAIN???!!"

The elders fumed, cursing silently.

The man in crimson robes ground his teeth and retrieved a turtle-like artifact.

"THIS TIME!!! HE WON'T ESCAPE!!!"

BWWWWWWW!!!

The artifact's eyes glowed, and it transformed into light, attaching itself to Hong Feng.

"KEEP HIM HERE!!!" The man in crimson robes ordered.

The artifact tugged at Hong Feng, preventing his escape from the portal.

Pale and worn, Hong Feng closed his eyes and gripped his sword.

"Huh?... N... NO WAY!!! RUN" The five figures turned pale.

"[Space Cutting Sword]" Hong Feng's eyes flashed open, and he swung his sword...

Nothing happened.

The portal snapped shut, undisturbed by the battle. The artifact was within the portal.

For several silent seconds Elders looked at the pace where the portal was before after that, the sky remained calm in the portal's wake, and then...

"DAAAAAAMN HIMMMM!!! HE TRICKED US!!!"

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!

Erupting in anger, they exploded with rage.

--

Eighty kilometers from the sect.

A portal appeared in a distant mountain range, and a pallid youth stumbled out of it.

"Shit... I need to stop the bleeding," he muttered, striking the wall with a single punch to create a cave. Cross-legged, he examined an artifact in his hand, which had lost its power.

He reached for some pills, but before he could use them, he collapsed, consciousness slipping away.

--

Meanwhile, Alex joyfully sprinted through the forest, enjoying the majestic mountainous scenery. His speed was impressive, covering 1.8 miles per hour.

"Huh... life is good," he beamed, relishing the chilly breeze on his face.

Then, his instincts kicked in. Something caught his attention beside the mountain he'd just passed. He pivoted and ventured towards the spot.

"Hmmm... who built such a rugged cave here?"
