Chapter 25: Daddy's Boy

As I step outside, I notice the sun is already rising, so I walk to the Impala and wait.

After a few minutes, the others exit the church as well, and Sam stays with Lori while Dean approaches me and says, "Even though I never thought I'd say this to a witch, but thanks for savin' Sam..."

Look at that, family seems to make him even forget about his pride...

"Well, there is always a first time, right? Even though I don't really see myself as a witch..."

"Yeah? What else would you be? You're not a telepath either," Dean retorts with a raised eyebrow as he leans against the Impala.

I take out the grimoire from my back pocket and throw it at him, and he catches it awkwardly. Then I say,

"I'm a simple guy with a specific set of skills and everything I know about witchcraft is from this book that I got from a witch hunt with Bobby.

I also don't live the Gothic lifestyle and know only the basics, so it would probably be an insult to other witches to call me one..."

He listens to me, then opens the grimoire, but since he can't read it, he closes it again and throws it back to me.

"Sure, if you say so," says Dean, who then folds his arms in front of his chest and continues, "So what magic trick are you going to pull off to help us find Dad?"

So does this mean he will not try to shoot me whenever I turn around? That seems like progress...

But whenever Bobby asks me again to help out these guys, it will get very expensive. Like grenade launcher expensive...

"Basically, I will use one of you to get a mental link to your father and track him down like that. Nothing really special about it."

"Yeah, sure, nothing special..." says Dean and rubs his eyes as if he's getting a migraine or something like that.

So while he has an identity crisis, I look at Sam, who talks somewhat awkwardly to the girl. She clearly shows affection for him, and he seems to like her too but keeps his distance from her at the same time.

This man helped send a preacher to hell, then nearly died, and in the end, he got the girl who wants more from him... Most people would be overwhelmed by their emotions at this point and would disappear with her.

"Your brother is a strange one... he sacrificed himself for that girl but is too afraid to close the deal with her," I say while watching Sam do his best to get away from the girl.

He then turns around and walks towards us, while Lori stays behind, looking at him with a lonely expression.

"He is not afraid to close the deal with her, he is more afraid to lose her again," says Dean after seeing this drama unfold too.

"Well, if he thinks he can live his life like this, then your brother will never have a life."

---

Hearing this, Dean looks at his brother sadly. When Sam sees this, he asks, "Did something happen?"

"Ah, no, everything is fine," says Dean while rubbing his chin.

This makes Sam look at him confused, but then he shakes his head and says, "Okay... I think we should get away from here before the police arrive."

Dean thinks for a second about this, then says, "Don't worry about it. We can simply talk our way out. Why don't we stay here for a day or two and then hit the road? You can recover a bit, and I can relax too, maybe even with a few sorority house members," then grins mischievously.

Well, good luck with that. I don't know if I can talk my way out after the accident with the police here...

"No, I think we should leave. Especially if he can help us find Dad," says Sam, without considering Dean's suggestion.

Then he turns to me and says, "I didn't have time to thank you, so thanks. Not everyone would help out after such a start."

I shrug and say, "Like I said, I did it because Bobby asked me to, but if you guys ever point a gun at me again, I will whoop your asses."

Then I open the back passenger door with my telekinesis and continue, "Let's go grab my car and then find your father, or my girlfriend will definitely kill me if I make her wait any longer." before I enter the car and close the door.

Sam nods at me while Dean grumpily unlocks the passenger's door for him, and heads towards the driver's seat himself.

Before opening the door, he mutters for everyone to hear, "First, he threatened to whoop our ass, then broke into my car, and now we need to bring him to his broomstick... great."

This guy got angry because I unlocked his car on my own... luckily, he doesn't know that I also opened his trunk.

Afterward, we embark on our little journey to my car, and I start telling them how I met Bobby. However, I leave out the details about Cthulhu to avoid dragging these troublemakers into it.

When they hear that I am not from Iowa, they initially look confused at me, given that I am wearing the local police uniform.

However, they don't delve into it further, possibly because they themselves occasionally impersonate police officers...

Then Sam asks about my powers, and I tell him the same things I told his brother... normally, I have no problem showing off my powers or my immortality.

However, since hunters would likely target someone like me, I try to keep at least my immortality a secret from them, to have an advantage later on.

Then the topic that interests Sam the most comes up about the night at Stanford... but we arrive at my car simultaneously and decide to postpone the question for a few minutes.

We come to a halt, and I head towards the trunk of my Mustang to change clothes. Meanwhile, Dean begins admiring my car, and Sam looks through the grimoire I had given him earlier while talking about my witchcraft.

As I open the trunk, I notice Dean's admiration for my car immediately turns into an unsuccessful attempt to break into it for some reason...

Ignoring him I take off the police uniform, then change into some jeans, a black shirt, and a black leather jacket.

Luckily, the police officers were so occupied with the events at the police station that they hadn't started searching for my car yet.

After finishing changing, I take my enchanted knife, a pistol with special bullets, and the map from the trunk.

Then place the map on the engine hood and say, "Let's find your father first, and then I'll tell you everything I know about Stanford."

---

Hearing this, they stop what they were doing and come over, and I ask them, "So, which one of you is the bigger daddy's boy?"

"Dean!" says Sam and steps away from us.

"What? Are you sacrificing your brother for this guy's sick experiments?" says Dean, looking at Sam in disbelief. But his brother only shrugs and waits to see what will happen next.

Maybe Bobby will need to pay for two grenade launchers next time...

"Can we please get this over with... and by the way, do you have a knife?" I ask Dean since I don't really want to cut him with the soul name erasing knife...

Dean nods and gives me his folding knife. Then I grab his hand and stab his finger with the knife a bit stronger than necessary, but he deserves it...

"Ah! Son of a bitch!" screams Dean and tries to pull his hand away. However, I hold it in place and drop some of his blood on top of the map while he tries to free his hand.

I need to do this because I can only sense the general direction of a person, but not their exact position, especially if they are far away.

For the spell, you basically need something strongly connected to the person, and then ink or a similar substance to drop onto the map. Afterward, it will flow towards the location of the person once you chant the right words.

Well, I had nothing from their father, except his sons and their connection to him. The blood part from Dean was probably unnecessary, but again, he deserves it, and maybe it will help with the spell...

I let go of his hand, and Dean starts to suck on his bleeding finger.

"You'll get that back," says Dean angrily, while staring at me.

"Stop crying and close your eyes. Concentrate on the best moments with your father, and don't stop thinking about it until I say so."

He mutters something but then closes his eyes, and I put my hand on his head.

But even after a few minutes, nothing seems to happen...

"Are you even trying to think about your father?"

"I'm trying, but it's not easy... especially when someone touches my head!" barks Dean in response.

"No, it's not easy because there aren't many good moments with him..." says Sam, somewhat depressed.

Well, he seems to be a good dad... wait, maybe this will work too, so I ask Sam, "And bad moments?"

He pauses for a bit, then says, "Many..." and they both get tense.

"Okay, you two, switch places. If it doesn't work with good memories, then the bad ones will..." I say to them and wave Sam over to me.

"Okay, same thing, but think about everything your father did wrong."

Let's see if these memories are strong enough to locate someone... and hopefully, nothing else happens, unlike last time...

But once I locate their father, I'm kinda curious to find out what connection Sam has with the demon.

"Wait, what about his blood?" asks Dean after seeing me skipping steps.

"I already got yours, so it's fine," I say with a smile.

"You s---"

"Shhh, your brother needs to concentrate," I interrupt him and turn back to Sam, who closes his eyes.

So after annoying Dean and placing my hand on Sam's head, I close my eyes too. Instantly, I start to feel something... this guy seems to hate his father very much...

After I get a clear direction of his father, I want to open my eyes and chant the spell, but suddenly the darkness disappears, and I find myself standing in a motel room.
