Chapter 19: Acquiring a handy skill

He had a few cracked ribs and his chest had sunk in by a few millimeters.

Xiao Wan gasped for air as he realized the severity of his injury when suddenly motes of light rose up from his dantian towards his caved sternum and broken ribs and they started healing rapidly.

He was puzzled by what was happening when he sensed danger and instantly rolled to the right and picked up the Jade green sword. He saw a small Silver needle that got stuck right where he was just sitting a few seconds ago and the grasses around the needle wilted almost instantly.

Xiao Wan broke into a cold sweat thinking, 'I can't imagine what would have happened if it actually hit me'..

The needle floated up and flew towards Xiao Wan but he blocked it with the sword and it fell to the ground. It floated up once more and as if it had eyes, it circled round Xiao Wan and dashed toward his back in the blink of an eye but someone with a soul sense as powerful as Xiao Wan's would be able to detect something like that easily.

The only problem was, could he react fast enough?

Xiao Wan dashed to his side once more but he didn't manage to evade it completely, The needle grazed his left arm and drew a little blood and terror flashed through Xiao Wan's eyes.

Meanwhile, his ribs had just finished healing but his sternum was only half healed, so he gasped for air while gulping down some saliva while bearing the pain. He quickly tore a piece of his clothing, as he had seen in movies while he was on Earth, and tied it swiftly and tightly around his arm so as to stop the flow of the poison and started sucking on it.

He was lucky that it wasn't a poison that affect merely by touch.

He sucked out as much of the poisonous blood as he could from his arm but it was already turning to a light shade of purple as a result lack of blood and the presence of the poison.

Xiao Wan was at loss. He couldn't think of anything to do in this situation. A thought suddenly hit him.

' why don't I direct those motes of light towards my arm..'

He decided to test his guesses and started using his genuine qi to wrap around the motes of light but they kept slipping through but he didn't give up and continued trying but it never worked.

His arm had almost turned completely purplish and his countenance a few shades paler than before when he decided to use his soul power to wrap around the motes of light and surprisingly they obediently moved along with his soul power towards his arm.

Xiao Wan sucked in cold air and heaved a sigh of relief as the motes of light started healing the cut and eliminating the remnant poison left there. After five minutes, his arm was as good as new and the only sign of injury was the blood stains on his arm.

Some leaves suddenly rustled and Xiao Wan slowly crept behind the tree he crashed into with caution only for a little bunny to come jumping out of the shrubs.

(#larry_an: hehe, I got ya😝. Even though I'm the author of this novel, I'm thinking, why didn't he use his soul sense to find out what was in bush.)

After regaining his strength and genuine qi, he decided to move carefully and soundlessly as he had discovered, prior to the attack, that the attacker seems to be able to sense him and attack him from a distance.

'It seems I'm not the only one that can use soul sense before reaching the Heavenly realm..' Xiao Wan thought as he recalled the young face of the man bathing in the pool.

He used his soul sense to search for the needle and found it stuck in a tree, wriggling, wanting to free itself. He noticed a very thin strand of soul power attached to the needle which wasn't visible, it was almost even transparent when he checked it out with his soul sense.

Even, Xiao Wan never thought soul power could be used in this way, at least he knew he couldn't achieve that just yet. He inched closer to the needle while avoiding the soul strand, He then decided to compress his soul power into the form of a little blade but it scattered as soon as it was about to take form,

He continued to try to compress his soul power until he finally did it on his twelfth try. He slashed at the strand of soul power but his soul blade split into two and Xiao Wan's face paled as he spat out a mouthful of blood and took a step back.

Xiao Wan gritted his teeth and became even more determined. He began the process of condensing his soul power and like before after a few tries he created a mini sword.

(#me: more of like a dagger than a sword but it was double edged so I decided to call it a mini sword)

He controlled it carefully and approached the strand slowly. He suddenly sped up just before his compressed soul sword touched the soul strand but the same thing happened once more, though this time his compressed soul sword got split till it reached the middle before stopping.

The damage done to his soul sense this time wasn't as severe as the previous one but he still spat out a mouthful of blood.

Xiao Wan began the compression process once more and succeeded on his first try this time. He decided to make a very thin dagger and then merged his genuine qi with it to strengthen it and surprisingly they blended well. Xiao Wan had utmost faith in his creation this time around and controlled it to swing down at the soul strand and it was cut off completely without any resistance whatsoever.

The scarred man in the blood pit frowned as he hadn't received any news from the silver colored corpse slave for some time now.

'Just to be sure, I'll also attack him from this distance even though it is risky and not efficient enough. But it's best as a sneak attack', the scarred man thought as a silver needle appeared out of nowhere in his palm.

If one looked well, you'd notice a white colored ring on his finger but it was hard to distinguish because of his skin color.

The scarred man attached his soul sense to the needle in form of a strand and controlled it to fly in the direction of Xiao Wan.

He felt the needle pierce into something that didn't feel like flesh and frowned.

"Damnit, how did I miss. It must be because I'm not yet familiar with this new body I acquired recently", the scarred man cursed.

His eyes went blank for some time and he connected his mind to that of his silver colored corpse slave and attacked Xiao Wan again but he just barely grazed his arm before it flew to far and got stuck in a tree.

He never expected Xiao Wan to be able to sense the needle due to its insane speed and he was shocked to the core. Through his soul strand connected to the needle he felt a soul power, not as strong as his but not too far off, sweep over the needle.

After some time, he felt a splitting headache as though someone was attacking his soul sense but didn't succeed. The scarred man was shaking in both horror and excitement when he realized what happened.

He was shocked at the fact that someone awakened hi soul sense before reaching the Heavenly realm and he could even compress it which was something only Half-Divine saint warriors could accomplish and even he wasn't able to do it.

(#me: it's not that no one had ever awakened it before reaching the Heavenly realm, it's just unheard of for someone to awaken it at the mortal realm but our mc will break all records😉😉).

He was excited at the fact that he had found a body that was more suitable for his soul to possess.

The soul sword looked like it was fading in and out of reality.

Xiao Wan looked at the soul sword floating in front of him and he suddenly felt a hint of admiration for his attacker as he had learnt a new way of attacking an enemy soundlessly.

He tested the sword on the rabbit that showed up earlier, the rabbit shook and fell to the ground dead. He had attacked the soul of the rabbit directly without spilling any blood.

Xiao Wan smiled and even wanted to thank the man that attacked him but of course it was a cold smile.

He was definitely gonna kill that man
