Chapter 87: 87. Lily's advice
"You have started hiding things from me Harry." Lily said looking intently at him." Tell me what happened in the meeting" She demanded making his sigh.
Instead of telling her directly, he let her view his memories in the pensive both of his lesson with Olivia and his meeting with Amelia.
" You realise that you overreacted, right? Amelia said those words only in the heat of moment and didn't truly mean it." Lily said looking at Harry deeply. She saw that his brows were furrowed making her sigh.
" Baby, I'm not admonishing you. But you will have to put your trust somewhere." She said softly.
"I know mom, but I just can't trust anyone wholeheartedly. There are too many enemies and none can be underestimated." Harry said frustrated.
" Harry, there must be some methods to cancel magical contracts too. If there is a magic to contract then there must also be some magic to break the contract. Magical contracts are not infallible. But you are putting your trust on them." Lily said trying to make him understand that trust is necessary everywhere. She knew about his interaction with gods, his previous lives and understood his paranoia but she didn't want to see him lonely because of it.
"But mom if that happens I will atleast know that it didn't happen because of my racklessness. Anyone can control them against me with a wave of wand.
"So are you going to ask me to sign a loyalty contract too" Lily said making him stunned.
"No mom. You are different." Harry immediately shouted.
"How Harry, if you give me a body then someone can control me too. Thinking this way, are you only telling me everything because I'm in a portrait and you know that no one can control me right now? " Harry didn't know how to answer her questions. His actions and words really gave such an impression. Harry only felt more guilty and more frustrated thinking along the lines.
"You are right mom. I have to do it somewhere. I will try to be more.. trusting.. I'll ask for Amelia's forgiveness" Harry said admitting his mistakes.
" No." Lily said abruptly.
" You will not apologize. You clearly told her you have trust issues and she still threatened you. Even if it was done out of impulsiveness, nobody can threaten my Harry.
You will not go. If she comes to you to apologise or explain, then only you will continue the alliance otherwise its her loss." Harry was stunned listening to her.
" But didn't you just say..-"
" Harry, I said you should know where to put your trust and also understand that not everybody can calculate their every step. Not everybody on your side will be comfortable signing loyalty contract. But you should still be careful and cautious as its the difference between winners and losers.
That means you should make people aware of their mistakes and when they come apologising after truly feeling the remorse, you should forgive them and let the matter go." At that moment Harry had a new understanding of his mom. But he really liked that attitude.
"Thanks mom. Sometimes I really feel that the past 1000 lives had been a waste and I didn't learn anything from them." Harry said smiling wryly.
" No son, You are very wise. You already knew that your paranoia is stopping you from relaxing even for a minute. Its just that sometimes even the wisest need someone to be with them and to help them.
You listen to others and consider their words even after all your experience, knowledge and powers. You were ready to apologise and that itself shows how wise you are." Lily said softly, immensely proud to have him.
They fell into comfortable silence for sometime before Lily asked- " What have you thought Harry? How are you going to tackle this new problem? "
" I think I have to change many of my plans mom. We still don't know completely about Dumbledore. I'm sure that there is no scope for cooperation but I want to first determine whether he is dark-gray or completely dark before thinking about how he should be dealt with.
I also need to know if Grindelwald is going to be a problem for us."
" So you are certain that he is not light or light-gray? " Lily asked.
" I am. The moment he tried his funny ideas with Hermione, I was already certain that Dumbledore is my enemy.
I just want to know how dangerous can he be for us and how bad his ending is going to be." Harry said coldly. " We also don't know if there are other muggles aside from two families, or if the two families have support from someone dangerous." He sighed. He didn't know how many times he had sighed that day.
" We should have thought about it. You even mentioned it to me one time but then we were entangled with all these problems.
I don't think statue of secrecy will stop muggles from finding out about us with the speed they are advancing in technology. And these dark lords and zealots are only going to help them find and weaken us." Lily said mirroring her son's expression. "How are you going to find out about Dumbledore? If only Alfred had not been busy, many things should have been possible for you then."
"Hmm.. If only Alfred had been with me.." Harry repeated before his eyes widened.
"How can I not have thought about it!!.. stupid!!, stupid!!, stupid!!..." Harry shouted startling Lily.
" Harry, what are you talking about? "
" Mom, you are right. We need Alfred. Someone who would be at my back and call and would be able to take most of my workload.. You are a genius mom.. " Harry said excitedly.
" Well thank you son but can you please tell me what you have thought about.. "
