Chapter 4: Mission

As you know, some missions can mentally, physically, and emotionally drain us. Rod and Tobias have gone to different environments to train at, such as climbing high mountains. It becomes challenging to breathe due to the limited amount of oxygen you can receive at high altitudes of the mountains. Another place Rod and Tobias have exercised was the ocean, where they had to swim back and forth at least five times where they had to keep pushing past their limits, meaning if their arms were tired, Rod and Tobias just used their legs and floated until they were able to use their arms again. If Rod and Tobias got tired, they just used their arms, and if both the arms and legs were tired, they floated on their back and remained calm since sometimes the oceans can have strong currents.

Rod Huntsinger and Tobias Washington, ever since boot camp, became inseparable and were more like brothers. When Rod and Tobias found out that they would be doing the same MOS (Military Occupational Specialty code), they were happy. Usually, many people do not get assigned the same MOS due to what is available and what the recruiter sees as a good fit. Rod and Tobias were not quitters since they overcame every challenge that life had brought to them and learned ways to deal with their situation. Tobias did not include boot camp's mental part since he normally trained his body, not his mind.

Tobias was grateful to his drill instructors, who prepared him to become mentally prepared for any situation without freaking out or being depressed. My drill instructors always said, "No matter what, do not give up because it's all mental keep pushing your body. All the vomit and sweat is weakness leaving the body." The other saying my drill instructors said, "If everything in life were easy, we would all have the dream job we want, and violence would not exist in this world."

Every time Tobias had vomited and felt like his body was past its limits, and he kept pushing because it was weakness leaving his body. No matter how many times Tobias wanted to give up, he kept telling himself that he would be selfish if he gave up because he chose to be in the military to learn discipline and better himself as a person. Before Tobias had entered the military, he was training his body to pass the examination to get sent to boot camp. Tobias' workout was simple; he just did one hundred push-ups, one hundred sit-ups, five minutes planks, twenty pull-ups, and ran 1.5 miles every other day. Tobias's parents questioned his decision to join the military because he was a great student. Tobias's parents wanted him to go to college to get his degree in a career that would make him successful and grateful.

Once Tobias had graduated high school and got his diploma, he was sent to boot camp towards the end of August, which was towards the end of Summer beginning of Autumn. Boot camp was not easy as Tobias thought it would be due to the intense exercise he had to do, such as running three miles, doing one-hundred push-ups, one hundred sit-ups, doing one-hundred jumping jacks, and fifty burpees. Tobias had to practice marching and get used to marching everywhere he went instead of walking. Tobias's vocabulary changed in boot camp; he could not use the words I and me. Tobias replaced the word I with the word this, and he replaced me with the word we. Tobias always spoke in the third person in boot camp, which he found odd and weird. For example, one of the military phrases in boot camp Tobias learned to say was this recruit must use the head/ or the John. This phrase gets translated to if Tobias spoke naturally to, I will use the restroom/or bathroom.

Tobias learned that boot camp got designed to break him down mentally and physically. Tobias thought that the drill instructors were having fun by messing with him. In boot camp, one person mistakes; it becomes everyone's mistake. For example, if someone did not lock their footlocker in time, everyone would have to do twenty push-ups because it is about teamwork and not individualism. Tobias learned how to become one and work as a team player even though it was tough at first because of his upbringing. Tobias had to learn how to trust other people because the military is a brotherhood, and everyone becomes family.

Once Tobias graduated boot camp, he ended up going home for one week, and then Tobias went to his MOS training school, which was infantry. Tobias learned how to effectively use a machine gun, grenade, tank, and knives. Tobias got taught different combat styles of martial arts in boot camp. But learned how to master the techniques in his infantry school. Some of the combat techniques Tobias learned were Muay Thai, Krav Maga, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Knowing these different techniques had saved Tobias' life and Rod Huntersinger's life on more than one occasion. Tobias and Rod were not ready to die, that when others were dying, they were fighting to live for their reasons.

One of their mission assigned to Tobias and Rod was to scope out the area and report any suspicious activity from the terrorist group causing traumatic destruction and chaos. The name of the terrorist group is called The Syndicate of Invisibility. The Syndicate of Invisibility chose this name because no one knows their real identity or their motive to cause chaos and destruction, which have caused some of the people to be terrified. All that everyone knows of this group is they are smart, and once people catch on to them, they killed anyone who knows who they are in the most gruesome way. The last article I read stated that the previous victim of The Syndicate of Invisibility got tortured by getting stab. The more frustrated the tormentor got, the worse they got in torturing the victims, like using jumper cables to make the electricity enter the victims' bodies.

Tobias felt sorry for the victim's family because, by the time the victims' body got found, the body was beyond recognition. This reminded Tobias when he was captured along with Rod when they got assigned to scope out the enemy territory. Tobias and Rod got told to observe anything suspicious and report it back to the commanding officer in charge. Unfortunately for Rod and Tobias, they stood out too much, which lead to one of the reasons they got captured. Rod and Tobias got shot in their legs so they could not escape and then got stuck down on the head to make them unconscious to take them to their hideout.

The terrorists threw water to wake up Rod and Tobias, and they surprisingly spoke fluently in English, Arabic, Spanish, and Latin. Tobias and Rod had to learn Arabic for this mission, and even though it took a while, they study it every day until it became second nature. What gave Rod and Tobias away, even though they spoke in Arabic, was that they had a heavy accent that they tried getting rid of, but they could not because it was not easy. The terrorist asked them in English, "Who are you looking for?"

Tobias replied by saying, "It is none of your business." Rod replied by saying, "Go F yourself, you piece of crap." Rod's response provoked the terrorist to stab them a few times on their leg, arms, thigh, and abdomen. Even though they were losing a lot of blood, they were not in danger of dying because the terrorists are also trained in body physiology and anatomy to torture and not kill them for days.

Even though Rod and Tobias were tied up, they were trained to be patient and, when the opportunity presented itself, to take it and capture their enemies. The enemy was not expecting Rod and Tobias to dislocate their bones to get rid of the handcuff that was placed tight on them so they could not free themselves. Rod and Tobias were acting perfectly because once the enemy came close, they disarmed them. After all, using the element of surprise can be used to achieve success even though Rod and Tobias were in pain because they allowed themself to get stab to distract the enemy when they had the chance to dislocate their bones from their hand to get rid of the handcuff.

Rod and Tobias were hoping that they would have an easy escape from the terrorist hideout, but that was out of the question since they saw they are heavily guarded. Rod knew that if they did not get aggressive and start killing, they would die sooner or later trying to escape a heavily guarded place. Tobias was looking for a pacifist approach that did not require unnecessary killing. He sometimes knew family got threatened to do something that they do not want to do, such as killing or forcing females to do naughty things with them. Rod and Tobias decided that if they played rock, paper, and scissors, the winner would decide what approach they will take if it is killing or finding a pacifist approach of escaping.

Rod and Tobias got tied two-two in rock, paper, and scissors, and the winner of the last game would be the one to decide, but that was interrupted with shots coming towards them in their last game. Rod and Tobias got their answer not from the game but from the enemy, who clearly wanted to kill them. Tobias and Rod took the guns and clips and started shooting at the enemy, killing them with clean headshots or shooting center mass of the body being the chest area since it the biggest part of the body. Each time they started dropping bodies, they picked up more ammo for the guns they were using and got different weapons to use.

Tobias started praying. Tobias started quoting the Bible book of Deuteronomy chapter 31 verse 6, which states, "Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the Lord your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you." – New King James Version. Tobias prayed so that they can escape without fear of dying or getting injured by the enemy.
