Chapter 9: Subject 009: A Day of Planning

I sat up, ready for what I was going to do today. Today was the day, I plan my escape from SL2.

It was cold in the room like it always had been. I was alone too, but at this very moment, I didn't really care. Somehow I knew that later I would have different feelings. Of course, I don't like being alone for a certain amount of time.

I think it was almost time for breakfast, due to my curtains were drawn.

I certainly have no idea when I was going to have my next Operation. Nor did they tell me what it was going to be. I sighed, and upon that, a female Nurse came into the room, rolling a cart. There was a Guard standing near her.

"Special Test Subject 7295," She began, addressing me by my said name. "Your breakfast has arrived."

Yeah. Like always. What is it this time? The same as last time?

I was wrong about that. She bent over the cart and pulled a tray of food out. She went over to me and set it on my night stand.

I saw eggs, toast, and bacon. Orange Juice and water were written on two white foam cups. They always wanted us to drink water every meal. Just in case if any needles and drawings blood were an option.

The Nurse rolled my over bed table to me before picking up the tray and setting it on the table.

I looked down at my food and drinks. I could feel myself erging for the food. My stomach growled for it.

The Nurse head this and turned to me. "You better eat something."

I want to.

"I'm told your going to have a long night." She only sounded a little bit concerned.

She probably wasn't, but who knew? I wasn't her. I couldn't tell what she was thinking, and I certainly couldn't control it. Wait... I could though, couldn't I?

She said "Long night. Your going to have a long night." Probably had something to do with my Operation. Couldn't have a better day.

The Nurse seemed uncomfortable about my silence... and my presence. She quickly left the room with her cart and her Guard.

I sighed before picking up a spoon to cut my eggs in pieces. I used to didn't know how to use eating utensils, but thanks to the Scientist-Doctors, they helped me with that. One of them told me I should be using a fork instead of a spoon to cut or break my food apart. Using a spoon was easier for me. I usually just use a fork for picking things up. Of course, I would use a spoon of soup. Knives, they wouldn't give us any. Safety precautions.

These eating utensils were rather thin so... hang on...

I slowly raised the spoon up to my face.

Thin.

Then I picked up my fork from my tray and examined it.

Thin.

These eating utensils were rather thin.

I could definitely use these to my advantage. I could force the doors open with these.

I pushed the over bed table away and jumped out of my covers. After stepping over to the curtains to close them, I felt happy. I had found something that could help me get out of this place.

I united the slipknots around the curtains and watched them fold close. Hopefully nobody saw that.

I turned around and looked at my bed. Where exactly should I hide these?

I walked around the room, searching for a place to hide the silver utensils in my left hand. I couldn't hide it in any of these drawers, or the sink. Nor the cabinets. They get in there for things. Definitely not under the chair.

I looked over at my bed before walking around it.

Maybe I could hide it under my bed... or my pillow.

Maybe my pillow. Under my pillow. The only time they looked under my bed, was when they wanted to press buttons. Lower my bed, raise my bed, move it around. This bed was way too electronic for my liking. I wonder how I can even sleep like a little kitten, not knowing if it was going to explode or not.

I could just eat my bacon and toast with my fingers. No eggs for me today. Oh, it's a wonder what they're going to say to that.

I moved my hand under my pillow and left them there. Then I got back under my thin, white blankets and pulled the over bed table back towards me. I finished my food, then after starting drinking my water.

I felt bored afterwards. There was nothing to do. I got back up from my bed. Carried my drinks. Holding the straw in my mouth, I slowly walked around the room.

I hummed to myself, lifting my legs higher than they were supposed to go.

It felt so long, walking about in the lonely room. I was surprised it wasn't making me crazy. Or insane.

Heh, heh.

I stopped walking, humming, and looked over at my door, hearing it open. A female Nurse came in. She looked at me with her rather dark blue eyes. Her blonde hair bounced as she moved her head around the door to see me.

"Why are your curtains closed?" She questioned me. She sounded nice. Her voice was a little high pitched, and she had an English Accent. Her accent was quite strong.

She walked over to me, but stopped, looking over to my bed. "Oh, somebody has been here." She looked at me, noticing me tugging on the curtains.

This got her attention.

"You closed them?"

I nodded, taking a drink from my water through my straw. The sound of it being drained out could be heard from the foam cup. I was doing that on purpose.

The Nurse didn't seem to care for it. She ignored the sound and went over to the curtains to open and retie them. She didn't seem to have a sense of humor either. If she did, she were was hiding it. Probably twas trying to be professional.

I looked over at my blankets while she was busy with the curtains. Suddenly, I had an idea. It got cold at night, didn't it?

I set my empty cup on the over bed table and went over to the Nurse.

She looked over her shoulder at me after feeling me tug on her Uniform Shirt.

"Oh?" She wondered. She turned around to face me and bent down to my height.

Normally people would call me "Shorty", not do what she just dared to do.

I pointed at my blanket and held up two fingers. Then I pointed at my pillow and put down the two fingers and held up one. I figured she knew what I was trying to ask for.

"Ohh," She responded, "You have two more blankets and one more pillow?"

I nodded, then acted like I was freezing. It was a gesture/movement.

I was only letting her know that it got cold at night. In which it truly did, and they only gave us so much. Not to mention how thin the blankets were, including the pillows they gave us.

"I'll go get you some." She said and left the room.

Easy, peasy.

A few hours later, lunch time came around. Before the Nurse left the room after coming back with two extra blankets and a pillow, she set them down on the edge of my bed. I grabbed on of them, acting as if I were going to put them over my legs. i set the pillow behind me, over the one I already had.

I thought about what I should do with the blankets and pillows over lunch. The plan was going good. Or so I thought it was. It just need to get through those Security Doors. It needed to get to the Lobby, in order to get to the Elevator. The Elevator was my only way back up.

I looked down at my blanket covered legs and thought for a few moments.

There was only so much I knew. So I was slow at thinking. Really slow.

I took the fork and spoon from my tray and put them under my pillow.

I crossed my arms, sighing before thinking about what I should do with the blankets and pillow.

I could definitely see my form though the blanket, just not exactly my body. Skin, clothes, whatever. That didn't mater to me. What did matter, is that I was going to need to roll up the two blankets and put those including the pillow under the blanket I already had. The blankets would serve as my legs and the pillow would serve as my upper body. As if I was laying under there while I was aloft.

The last thing I needed were to get those doors open.

I thought the Guards had they're own picture I.D.s, as far as I saw what was around each Guard's necks. If I get one of those. I should be able to get out. There's a Guard who stands just across the hall from my door. He goes somewhere every now and then. I can just sneak after him when he does move.

The Guard walks off after dinner time. There's really nobody in the hall, walking about their daily lives. So this was a good thing.

I ate my dinner and I hid the forks and spoon under my pillow. It's almost time. I have to do this this agile, or escaping was a no go. Failure wasn't an option for me.

I see the man in White and Grey remove himself from his post. Then I wait for the signal and I take my chance.

It's my turn now. It's my turn to move my piece on the Chess Board.
