Chapter 87: Memory for Figures

Andrea was mulling over everything they had learned from the detectives during their conversation. Which, on reflection, wasn't a lot. Celine Mercer certainly was elusive. As much evidence as they found, they always seemed to be left waiting for the police to make the next move.

Kyle stopped suddenly and took a step back, leaning against the wall and beckoning her to join him. Confused, Andrea turned and stepped over to where he was waiting.

He glanced over her shoulder. "Okay, good. Now laugh like I just said something funny."

She almost did but knew it would just come out sounding fake. "What are you doing, Kyle?"

"Trying to act casual."

"Well you're acting weird, what's going on?"

"Walker is over there talking to Cunningham, and I'm wondering why," he explained.
