Chapter 234: Striking a Nerve

Kyle had to reevaluate his estimates. As they continued past where they had turned off, it became clear that Dominic was laying a false trail. If the police did find Kyle's phone and assumed that Dominic had discarded it during his escape route, they would think he was headed into a tangle of backroads, empty countryside and isolated uninhabited buildings, perfect for hiding out in. They could be searching the area for weeks without knowing for sure that Kyle wasn't there somewhere.

Their actual route lay in the opposite direction. They were headed for the coast, but nowhere that Kyle was familiar with. Could there be a smaller boatyard or marina Dominic was taking them to?

"So will your friend Mahoney be waiting for us when we get to our destination?" he asked.

Dominic flashed him a curious look. "Now that I come to think of it, you mentioned him before. How did you happen to know that name? He's always done his best to avoid the limelight."
