Chapter 2: If only I stayed home/ The Beginning
I thought to myself, typical for a science nerd to make everything accurate even down to the seconds.... nerds!
"Sorry am tardy!"
Tardy?! isn't that the oldest word in the dictionary...Oh know she didn't. Who in God's name uses "Tardy" in this modern world Katherine!
"I had to stop on the way for some coffee, you know how I get when I don't have my morning coffee" she said to them like it was supposed to me and intro to her life, which by the ways is fun because of me.
"Don't remind us" a males voice Shim's in
"And who's this beautiful lady you're with today" hell know!
"Guy's this is my bff Isabella" please don't introduce me to them, now I have to pretend to care and she's saying it very cutie way....at least I won't be dying today "We've be friends like forever, she's my soul sister" Yes we are.
"Hola beautiful Bella, or should I say beautiful cause you know, that's literally the meaning of your name in Italian" didn't know that.... God save me.
I gave him a little smile, not to much to get his hope up or make him feel we need to be friendly, a very uncompleted one smile.
"Am Polo" kissing the back of my hands, ohh God my hands wet now.
"Let go of her hand Polo; his a flirt, this one" she beckons as a warning "let me introduce you to my partners in crime" she sounded weird saying that out loud.
"Partners in crime eey, hello mate, am Timòthy" I almost laughed out loud, love the English accent.
He reminds me of a character from the Game of Thrones series, one of them Winterfer guys
"His an exchanged student " mate!
"Ohh!" I said with a smile while shaking his hand.... laughing inside
"From Scotland, but fit quite in" Katherine said as though she read my thoughts, looked at me in a shunning way. I know she means not to laugh..... can't help it and I was right, my inner voice scream.
("We must take the North back,
Don't yah know!)I couldn't help but smile a little.
"And this nerd sitting here is Yukio Chise"
(cutting Kate off)"Kio for short, nice to meet you" smiling, he has a nice smile.
"Bella speaks Japanese" Kate say's, feeling proud but I wasn't, my Japanese sucks.
"Oh really?" he said with a smile but I pray he doesn't say anything in Japanese, cause I won't know shit
I smiled back at him, i thought in my mind(this atmosphere smells like math and physics and only nerds would like this smell not met and this kid's a the kind one wouldn't dare invite to a cool party) OMG, I think am allergic to the atmosphere..... cough...."Nerds!".
"So where are we and what was with the crazy ass call yesterday?"
"The power socket still malfunctioning!, every time we use it fries the fuss than powering it up"
"Did you calculate accurate....."
"Ya i did all that, I've calibrated every possible out comes it still giving me shit and I you know what I hate- shitte results"
They seemed lost and deep in their conversation as I began to tour around the room with my eyes.
In the middle of the room was a pool sized machine with movable wheels, my eyes began to wonder to the decor's of the room: bullet proof windows, doors that look like they were made from real steel, cable wires every where, like Victor Frankenstein trying to create his monster. I could see it now, why they choose this; its a fortress for science nerds, a save heaven.
"That my friend is a machine that can manipulate time" and interpreter I didn't ask for appearing behind me, whispering science nonsense to my ears.
"You know when you wanna get to a meeting but you have a little time by your side and you did wish everything could stop for a few minutes...." he said looking at me like I should be amazed, as he continued "So as to do all you need to do and still meet up with your time schedule, thats what we are trying to achieve" Timóthy said with his scottish accent".
He sounds funny.....mate!
"That's what it should do if we get it running in time, its just that, it keeps frying the fuss every single time we power it" Kate said chimes in from across the room.
"And drain's the power around its surrounding, that's the reason" Kio hesitated
"The reason for what?" I asked feeling myself getting anxious for a responses
"Got kicked out of campus and had to bring our project here" Kate completes his words.
"Ohh" I said, feeling a bit reluctant, the were "The" science amateur.
The atmosphere was driving me crazy, I felt as though I was trap in a room filled with crazy math teachers, all asking me to look for X, I don't know, his in front of me. I told myself( so this is what I wasted my precious weekends for) am the adventurous type.....party gal, go out and get fucked kind of girl, not this, not with them "somebody save me!" the soundtrack from Smallville popped up in my head
I want to goooo home....
"Hey guys, I brought the good stuff...." A voice drove me away from my thoughts.
"Bella!"
"Dylan!" ohh fuck!
"What are you doing here!!" we both said together.
"Wait, how do you two know each?" Kate asked, looking confused and truthful now's not the time for that.
"We met in a club and then she bailed on me the next morning after we had sex, no good byes, no nothing" Dylan explained
"Ahhhhh----you" I said lost for words. please don't make me sound like some kind of hoe.
"I woke up and you were gone" whispering indecisive "was I that bad! " no you weren't, it's just me.
"Not really, I just..... don't want you to have Any funny thoughts or that you would think that, that would become a regular thing!" feeling a bit shy and..... what's the word
"Wait, his the guy you had a one night stand with? oh, this is messed up...." Kat said laughing as I tried to shun her.
"It wasn't intended" I i whispered to Kate "It just happened" i said with a strend voice.
"I thought you said you didn't do nerds" she whispered to my ear.
I gave her a don't judge me eye, it literally just happened and I wouldn't take someone like him for a nerd. She throws her hands up in the air in defense.
"So you are Kates famous friend, you look prettier than the last time I saw you" am always pretty know matter what I wear but I would have preferred it if he didn't see me like this, in comfy wears and his giving me the naughty eye with a smile "hope you wouldn't bail on me this time"
"That was one time" I said with a smile
"Can we speak after this settles?" he asked as I nodded in agreement.
He knows his still staring right, and intensely too.
"Ok love birds, can we get to the reason why we are here, this group assignment is due monday and we only have a week and that's too little, with the fuse frying every time we power it up"
"Did you?" Dylan tried to ask but was cut off
"Yes I calculated the right number, and yes the machine should be powered by 4000pw walt of electricity, and yes Kate: I changed the last fuss Polo blew up"
"I didn't say anything!" Kat said defending herself
"You thought it!....You thought it" Kio spoke
"Ok guys moment of truth"
Kio began to turn the machine on, I felt a wave of power move under my feet and through the walls as the room got filled up with a massive energy surge.
"Pull the red ladder at the count of five" Kio said as the machine became a bit to noisy
"At the count of five or at the count of one?" Dylan asked
"At the count of five" Kio yelled
"Okay, okay!" Dylan said
I saw the excitement in Kate's eyes, this is a zone.
"In five, four , three, two....." Polo counted down
Dylan pulls the red ladder down and the light from the machine becomes a lot brighter and noiser.
"Increasing the power surge 500vlt.... 1000vlt.... 2000vlt.... 2500vlt.... 3000vlt....4000vlt....5000vlt....."
"It's too much power" Kat said out loud
"6000vlt...." Timóthy called out "isn't it over over powering?" he asked but know one heard him.
The lights in the room begins to twitch like in a horror film, then something sparks at the end of the plugs where the machine was plugged in to the wall, then it sparked again, an again; multiple times and the last a lot bigger and brighter I'd thought I would go blind from the brightness of the spark.
"Turn it off" Polo shouted
"What?" Dylan said trying his best to hear them through the noise and confusion in the room.
"He said "Turn it off" something's wrong!" Kio said
"What, I can't hear you" Dylan shouted out
I stood there a bit confused with all that's going on in the background as I watch Kate walk up to Timóthy
"What's happening" Kate asked Timóthy
"Its over heating" Timóthy responded
"It's over powering!" Kio shouted out, still trying to communicate what to do to Dylan
Dylan finally understood the message they group tried to pass on " it's stuck" he told them
Everything in the room became noisy, I felt something ring in my ears uncontrollably, we all did and then everything begins to shake like there was an earthquake in the room, then glass doors which I thought were bulletproof broke, I thought it couldn't do that.
We all bent our head down to avoid the shattered glasses flying all over the room.
All of a sudden everything went quiet for a few seconds, everything in the room began to float suddenly. I felt my body get lifted from the floor like there was no gravity.
I prayed its all over soon but the worst was yet to happen; a coffee cup hits the machine directly as we floated in mid air, it sends out a powerful shock wave from the machine that knocks and rides us about in mid air, it kept sparking uncontrollably, it opens up a black hole or at list that's what it looked like, it kept pulling stuff from the lab into it.
I felt myself being pulled toward it, i tried to resist but it's pull was too strong my body felt as if it wasn't in control.
"Katherine!" I called out terrified.
"Bella!" I saw the fear in her eyes as she called out to me.
"Help me!" I said to her out of fear "Kate" I called out again.
"It can't hold me much longer" I said to her
The wire I seemed to hold onto was losing its stability, and my hold on it lighter. It Finally snapped, I thought this was it, slightly drifting in mid air, then a hand reached out for mine, I held it but the pull was to great.
"Don't Let Go" Dylan said pulling me with all he's strength.
The line that held his other hands began to snap little by little due to the weight, if I didn't let go now, I knew both our fate would be sealed, I made up my mind, smiled at him, as though he knew what I was thinking
"Don't you dare let go!" He said to me in a sad tone as his eyes which was filled with hope thirty to fourth minutes devoid of hope.
I could hear the fear in his voice, I knew he wouldn't let me go, I knew he would sacrifice his safety for for my own, that's the reason why I avoided him he is the good guy type, I have to do it myself because he never would.
"Please don't let go" he said with a whisper and his voice trembling...was he about to cry?
"I will be fine, just figure out a way to bring me back, and take care of Kate, she looks really terrified, okay" I told him with a smile, a big smile with teeth and all....thank God I have good dentistry.
I said letting go of his hands, my body got pull harder as it became impossible for me to do anything, I felt my eyelids closing on their own, I felt kinda peaceful I thought to myself.
"If only I stayed home" as I got pulled into the darkness.

So that's the second part of the story, seems interesting so far, if I say so myself not to toot my own horn, but yeah I just did!.
I thought about how I wanted to an astronaut while growing up, that's what about this chapter and I just visited the dentist recently too....lol
So I could relate with Bella, my friends drag me out of bed all the time whenever I try to sleep in on the weekends after lectures and when they do I hope the heavens it ain't for boring stuff.
Imagine if she stayed at home resting peacefully she wouldn't be dragged into another time
......
