Chapter 24: Chapter 23 - Heavens Arena and Some Progress

When Sachiko woke up next day, the sun was already high in the sky. Since she had plans for today, Sachiko could only try to multitask by trying to maintain 'Ten' as she got changed and had breakfast before she headed to Heavens Arena.

She walked there along with Killua and Gon who were wearing their 'suits'. She also tried to engage in conversations with the two of them to see if her 'Ten' disappeared with her not actively focusing on it.

Sure enough, it did after a minute or so after she started talking to Killua and Gon.

So, on the way, Sachiko tried to not let her 'Ten' disappear when she engaged in conversations, but she could only delay the disappearance by a few more minutes. After all, she was far from truly mastering Nen.

When they got to the destination, Sachiko quickly went to register.

"Welcome to Heavens Arena. Please fill this form." A receptionist gave Sachiko a sheet of paper.

Sachiko took it and filled out her information.

"Sachiko Nakamura sama, your number is 2104." The receptionist said after typing her information into the system. "On the first floor, you will be called by your number so try not to forget it."

Sachiko nodded in reply before heading to first floor. Gon and Killua followed her to watch her fight. Since they couldn't place a bet yet, they could only wait until Sachiko gets to a floor where placing bets is available.

"This place seems to never change." Killua commented as he sat down.

Gon seemed to be surprised at that. "Wait, Killua..you've been here?"

"Yeah, when I was about six, my dad left me flat broke here and told me to reach 200th floor." Killua said. "It took me two whole years."

"You're amazing, Killua. Reaching 200th floor at the age of eight sounds pretty impressive." Sachiko praised Killua as she patted his head.

"..." Killua looked a bit flustered as if he was not expecting a praise.

"What about you? With all of that information you have, it's hard to imagine you've not been here." Killua said, changing the topic.

"Hm. But I've never fought here. As for the information, maybe I'm just good at getting it, who knows?" Sachiko hummed.

"Right." Killua said sarcastically.

"Number 1985 and Number 2104 to Ring E." At the announcement, Sachiko got up from her seat. "Seems like it's my turn now."

"Beat them up!" Killua cheered.

"I will!" Sachiko waved to Killua and Gon before heading to the ring.

Inside the ring, she stood in front of a bulky muscular guy who seemed to be looking down on her.

"A girl? Seriously, she looks weak." Some random guy from the audience commented.

"I know right? She's fine af but I honestly don't think she'd do much in a fight. Just look at the outfit of her choice." Another guy said.

Sachiko rolled her eyes at that. What was wrong with her outfit? Surely, she wore a short skirt with thigh highs and heeled boots but she was comfortable in those.

"This is a first floor fight so we'll be appraising your skill levels. You're allowed three minutes to demonstrate what you're capable of." The judge announced, "Now..begin!"

"It's a pity to beat up a pretty girl but we're in a match so don't blame me, alright?" The guy said, looking at her up and down.

'Disgusting ' Sachiko thought as she kicked the guy in the face. She didn't reinforce her legs with cursed energy because she wanted to test out her physical strength. The guy flew out of the stage with face first and he was not getting up.

The audience seemed shook with that and Sachiko was also surprised. She possibly can't do that just by getting twenty times stronger than average human, right? Surely, that guy also looked six or seven times stronger than normal humans so the margin of difference didn't seem as much?

'Anyway, since he's out, that's fine.' Sachiko thought to herself.

"2104, you will proceed directly to floor 50." The judge said as he handed her a ticket.

"Okay." Sachiko took the ticket and headed back to Killua and Gon.

"That was amazing, Nakamura san!" Gon said.

"Was it? That was purely physical strength so I won't be too sure about that." Sachiko said with a chuckle. "By the way, just call me Sachiko. I told you Sachiko is my name."

"Ah..right. Sorry, Sachiko san." Gon said with a sheepish smile.

"Anyway, let's head to floor 50 after getting my prize money." Sachiko said.

"Prize money?" Gon asked.

"Yeah, I've heard you get prize money if you win up until 200th floor. Although the first few floors won't give you much money.." Sachiko explained.

"Yep, and from what I remember, I had around 200 million after clearing 190th floor." Killua added.

"200 million?!" Gon exclaimed.

"Yep!" Killua replied with a proud face.

"Then where's that money?" Sachiko asked with a hum. "Are you freeloading at my place?"

Of course, she knew Killua had spent all on choco robots but what's the harm in a little bit of teasing?

"Uh..I've spent it all on snacks " Killua replied. "It's been four years already, you know?"

"What kind of snacks are they? Are they that expensive?" Gon asked.

"No, he probably swam in the pool of snacks, especially choco robots for the last four years." Sachiko said.

"That's not true." Killua lied but Sachiko hummed as she walked to the receptionist to receive prize money.

She then bought a can of soda and headed towards the elevator.

"Hey, pay attention to me, eyepatch lady!" Killua said but Sachiko pretended not to hear him as she took a sip out of the can of soda.

"What a nice day." She hummed.

------------------------------

Heavens Arena, 50th Floor,

Sachiko registered and waited at the waiting room. Soon, she heard her number was called.

"Number 2104, Sachiko Nakamura sama..and number 1968, ...Please head to Arena A on the 57th floor."

At the announcement, Sachiko got up from her seat and headed to the ring. This time, it was in a proper stage with actual audience that could bet on fighters. Sachiko took a glance at the audience and saw Killua and Gon in one of the middle rows.

'Great, all I have to do is win this and I'm gonna start earning money.' She thought happily.

In the arena, a commentator's enthusiastic voice could be heard.

"Alright, everyone. This is the match you've been waiting for. A match up between a girl with strong kicks and a martial artist. Both has come up to this floor straight from first floor so don't underestimate any of them! And now, let's take a look at the big screen for the playback of events!"

The screen started playing Sachiko's single kick and then the martial artist skillfully(?) knocking out his opponent.

"Now, everyone, ready to push your wager buttons? Go on! Make your picks right now!" The commentator said and the audience started to press the buttons.

Sachiko's color was Red while her opponent was Blue. Soon, the stakes appeared to be 2 to 1.5. Sachiko was not pleased by the fact that she was not the favorite but it was fine since she could just beat up the opponent and make more money this way.

So, as soon as the judge gave green light to fight, she walked to her opponent.

"Aren't you too relaxed? Did you really think a girl like you stand a chance against me, a true martial artist?" A muscular middle age man who happened to be her opponent said in a proud manner.

Sachiko continued walking and when the man couldn't take it anymore and striked her, she grabbed his hand and threw him out of the stage. It seemed that her physical strength was a lot more than she initially thought because the man's wrist was broken and he was not getting up after he fell.

"Did you say anything?" Sachiko still said her initially prepared dialogue despite what happened. It wasn't like she cared what happened to that guy.

She was here to earn some money and get a change of pace from her nen training.

As such, she left the stage in a proud manner without even sparing a second glance at the guy.

-------------------------------

After collecting her prize money which was 50,000 jenny, she asked Killua and Gon to collect the money from earlier wager.

"Since you asked to put in 50 million and the stakes were 2 to 1.5, we got 100 million in total." Killua said as she handed her the money.

"100 million on my first day. Not bad!" Sachiko said cheerfully. "Now..let's go home!"

"Huh? Already?" Killua asked, surprised. "You're not going to head to 60th floor?"

"I will take a few days off." Sachiko said.

"But why?" Gon asked.

"I'll be attracting too much attention and people will recognize me so soon if I advance in a few days." Sachiko replied. "Then, I won't make as much money."

"So...money is the reason?" Gon asked.

"Yes and I don't want to rush things yet." Sachiko said as she walked to the elevator.

On their way home, Sachiko started using 'Ten' again and maintained it as long as she could. Even during conversations and eating lunch, she tried her best to maintain her 'Ten'. If her 'Ten' disappeared for a second, she would use it again and try not to lose her focus again.

She continued this throughout the day even after she got home and till evening. Then, she used Zetsu to regain her aura quicker and when she was at her peak condition, she started using 'Ren'. This time, she maintained it until her aura runs out. Although the process was tiring, she pushed through.

As a result, she managed to maintain her 'Ren' for seven hours. Needless to say, she had to use Zetsu after that to regain her aura faster but she could feel that she was getting better and even her aura pool was expanding a little bit. She decided to sleep early that day as she had to recover her aura anyway.

The next morning, as soon as she woke up, she used 'Ten' as she had breakfast and took a walk in the garden. And now, she didn't really have a problem maintaining it while doing simple actions such as walking, running, doing some physical exercises, practicing sword skills and even small talk. But, of course, she started to find it difficult when she had to think complex situations or engage in a rather brainstorming conversations.

Apart from those cases, she could maintain her 'Ten' quite well and the aura surrounding her in 'Ten' state became much bigger and stronger now.

Then, she rested for a while before continuously using 'Ren' again.

This time, she could maintain it for nearly eight hours. Well, to be exact, it was 7 hours and 48 minutes but nearly eight hours sounded better.

And if she were to tell someone she had been training basic techniques for three days, no one would believe her.

Well, not that she would ever tell anyone but she was praising herself for her own progress in a way.
