Chapter 2: Pro Deus
The night stirred violently, a storm brewed on the distance the churning winds forewarning of untold dangers to come. You are well aware of your own abilities, you know you cannot make it back before the storm hits in its full.
You start running, the long narrow road is long and straight, a near impossible distance to cover in such a short amount of time but you still attempt the impossible.
A thunderclap smothers any intent you have of slowing, the turmoil on the horizon motivating you to move forward. A loud thump scares you but you dare not turn to inspect the sound you keep running and running but the loud crashes persist, growing louder with each earthshaking thump and crash. You know what it is and just how impossible it is to reach home before you succumb to the terror of the thing following you in the cover of the storm but you persist the grey skies and hidden sun the windy atmosphere the smell of ozone. You know this could very well be your end but you fight it the urge to scream.
Your lungs burn now and you cant run anymore so you turn to behold the thing . It towers over you on impossibly long spindly legs its gruesome body terrifying you to your absolute core threatening to break your psyche, this abomination that no one was supposed to see. Its enormous body tattered and torn its flesh falling to the ground slabs the sound making a sickening smack as it falls to the asphalt.
Suddenly you're bored down upon by a sharp voice loud enough to burst your eardrums but simultaneously quiet enough that it could very well be considered a mere figment of your imagination.
You stare up into the sky at the thing that beholds you and listen while blood leaks from your ears and eyes "THOSE WHO HAVE GREAT DESTINY WILL ONLY ALWAYS BE THEIR OWN GREATEST FEAR!"
