Chapter 63: Chapter 63. True Inheritance ( 5 )

In the forest,

Countless bats and magi were in the air, scanning the entire area with their spirit sense for any exit there may be.

"None, there are none, tell the guild master!" Kane said in a heavy voice as despair started to manifest itself in his eyes.

Ever since they spotted that tentacle, their leader had become quite agitated and was now scanning the entire sea area to look for an exit.

All the magi present had lived for a very long time, and so all of them understood that something must be seriously wrong with this place to make even their peak rank 3 leader so serious.

The sea area,

Tirus had been using the A.I. chip to scan the entire sea area, but they still found no exit.

"Goddamn it!" Tirus, for the first time in a century, growled in anger. There wasn't a single fish that could be seen in this sea, much less an exit.

'I had thought that this might be some kind of trap, well…at least I prepared for the worst.' The flashed pass through his mind as he made his way to the desert area. Currently, the best way to increase their chances of survival would be to ally with the other parties.

A streak of black light flashed through the sky of the semi-plane as Tirus reached the desert area as fast as he could.

"Fellow magus Mar, Chris, I, the inheritance candidate from the eastern continent, have come to share quite an important news about this place." Tirus infused his voice with his spiritual force so that it'd travel across the entire desert.

'Uhh, what is he talking about?' Mar contemplated as he stood at the top of his sand castle, looking at Tirus from far away. In the next second, he turned into sand and flew towards Tirus at high speed.

"Hey, fellow magi, how have you been?" Mar turned his upper body back to normal while still in mid-air, and greeted Tirus with a carefree smile.

"…."

After a second of silence, Tirus spoke, "This entire inheritance ground, it's a trap."

A doubtful expression appeared on Mar's face as he looked at Tirus, confused, he asked, "How do you know that?" He really hadn't seen Aimon's and Tirus's fight till the end, so of course he didn't know anything.

"Think about it, the selection requirement for this inheritance was too loose, it can only mean that that ancient magus, Plaguemancer, simply wanted a certain number of rank 3 and rank 2 magi." He didn't stop there and continued in a clam tone," We noticed weird tentacles which seemed to have intelligence of their own, using the dead bodies as nourishment, the magi we killed, all had their souls taken before we even knew it."

Hearing this, Mar's expression turned grim, "But didn't we have 46 days as the time limit? Even if its a trap, why would it be activated so early…oh wait, so that's all bullshit?" Due to shock, he almost asked a stupid question but soon saved his pride by answering himself.

"What do we do now? And why did you come here alone? What if I refine you as a puppet to ensure my survival?" Mar said, his tone turning more and more sinister by the last question he asked.

In return, Tirus didn't say anything and released his peak rank 3 aura along with an immense amount of killing intent, "Is this explanation enough?"

"Yes, yes." Mar's expression returned to his usual smile as he made a grabbing motion in the air with his unnaturally small fingers and soon, a rank 3 magi along with 4 other rank 2 magi appeared before them.

Tirus had a shocked expression on his face but quickly regained his composure, "Search the entire area for an exit and don't let anyone die, at all costs."

Mar nodded and disappeared along with his south coast magi puppets, but right before he got away from Tirus, he had already been attached to a tracker created by Tirus.

'Don't think of leaving alone, hehehe.' One had to remember that Tirus had lived for over a century, so of course he knew that there is a very little chance of this Mar ever helping him find an exit.

'The only one a person can trust is oneself.'

Recalling what he had once heard back on earth, he rushed towards his forest base to check on the magi that came with him.
