Chapter 18: Positivly Marvelous

[3rd POV]

[Floor 66]

A man could be seen walking through a large archway leading to a cobblestone path. The light from glowing crystals reflected off of the large top-hat the man wore, framing his face, or lack thereof, in darkness. In his right hand, he held a cane with a pommel shaped like a skull, with two dark black crystals for eyes.

*Twang!* *Shtic!*

With a snap of his wrist, a black crossbow with a monocular attached above the string was raised and fired. The bolt impacted a humanoid creature with sunken skin between the eyes, and with a groan the creature died, a burst of white light flowing into the man's chest.

At the end of the cobblestone path appeared a tower constructed from blocks of rock, six or more feet in height, it was clear that this tower along with the majority of this floor, was not naturally formed, but instead constructed by an intelligent mind.

"Oh, Rapunzel, Rapunzel, Let down your hair!" The man called out in an accent not heard of in this world, (Victorian English). His arms stuck out to the side in a dramatic fashion while his head tilted back, revealing the ever-present smile etched into the porcelain mask on his face.

From the top of the tower, a window was opened, and a rope was thrown out, the man did an overly flourish bow before walking to the tower. He ignores the rope and instead stuck his foot to the tower, and began walking up the verticle surface, cane tapping the tower as he went.

Once at the top he ducked into the window and tipped his hat towards an old bleached skeleton sitting in a padded leather chair behind an ornate wooden desk, an electric lamp sat atop it, angled so that the light poured only onto the skull of the skeleton. If you looked closely you could see that there were bloodshot eyes that darted around inside the eye sockets, indeed, this skeleton was not dead.

"Have my accommodations been up to standard, mmm, Sir?" The man didn't wait for a reply before saying, "Oh! Deary me, I forgot you were unable to speak, let me help you." The man took a step forward and vanished into thin air, reappearing behind the chair, hand on the jaw of the skull, he began to open and close it, while speaking in a voice not his own.

"L-Let me go you fucking monster! I already told you everything I know!" The man gasped and then responded in his normal voice. "Young man, that is inappropriate language! Go to the headmaster's office!"

The room which was an opulent office earlier was now a classroom, the wooden deck was replaced for a school desk, which the skeleton sat behind, while the man was at the front of the class, a pink dress set atop his black suit, the blackboard behind him had a large white 6 drawn upon it. The many other school desks were occupied by children, wearing the same mask as the man.

The skeleton's voice echoed not from his own mouth, or the masked man this time, but instead from the masked children, their mask's mouths moving in an overly exaggerated manner, while they all stared at the Skeleton. "You're mad! This is madness!" The man began to laugh, but his body did not even slightly move, the children joining in soon after, a maniacal chorus not much different from what you would hear in an asylum.

"This is madness? My dear boy, you are so mistaken, this is Positively Marvelous!~"
