Chapter 22: Job?
"...Sure... Can you please bring me the menu?" Alvar asked with a calm smile completely ignoring Ryuu's suspicious gaze.
Ryuu nodded her head and handed him the menu and continued to stare at him.
'Why does everything seem so expensive? Or do I just simply not understand how the pricing works in this world? It's probably just the latter...'
"I'll like some of the fruit liquor please," Alvar asked politely and handed back the menu.
Ryuu nodded her head and asked confused.
"Why not order something to eat? Since the first day you arrived here I have never seen you eat anything at all." She lightly tilted her head.
"I ate on the way here so there's no need." Ryuu nodded and walked away to finish his order.
"So you must be the new guy Nya~?" Someone asked from behind.
Alvar turned around and saw a girl with green eyes and black hair. She has black cat ears and also a black tail.
'It seems every waitress I met so far in this pub has their own problems... Ryuu seems to hide deep regret in her eyes, Syr seems to be a goddess while this person...' Alvar stares into her eyes.
"Nya~ Have you perhaps fallen for me Nya~!?" She sudden said in a teasing tone, interrupting Alvar's train of thought.
"No... You just reminded me of someone." Alvar said and smiled lightly.
"Nya~? Who might that be~Nya?" Chloe asked curiously with a small glint in her eyes.
"A friend of mine of course," Alvar said in a matter-of-fact tone which caused Chloe to deadpan.
"You know that's not what I meant," Chloe crossed her arms and was about to ask something when Ryuu came back.
"Here is your Fruit Liquor," Ryuu said and placed it on the counter.
"And Chloe, you are still on work hours. If you do not start Mama will scold you again." Ryuu said berating Chloe.
"Fine~ Fine~ Nya~," Chloe said with a slight grin on her face and walked around the counter and whispered in Ryuu's ear.
"Eh~ Eh~ Ryuu~ When did you meet such a handsome young man Nya~? Syr told me that you found a boyfriend but I didn't expect it to be tru-" Before Chloe could finish teasing Ryuu she was smacked on the head by a dwarf lady.
"Stop the teasing and get to work!" Mia yelled
"Nya~!? Yes, Mama Nya~!" Chloe quickly ran out and continued her work.
Alvar just chuckled at the bunch and started drinking the liquor he ordered.
"Not too bad..." Alvar said quietly and continued to drink the liquor slowly.
Although all the waitresses who heard his comment froze.
That was their pub's most famous drink and also specially made by Mama Mia. Not only this but Mama Mia takes pride in her drink and for him to say that in front of her...
They all left a small prayer for him when they noticed Mama Mia's pissed-off look.
"Oi! Kid... What do you mean that MY drink is 'not bad' ?" She asked clearly angry and letting off a bit of pressure.
Alvar who didn't feel any of her pressure just shrugged.
"Don't get me wrong. The fruit liquor is a good drink, but I think the fruit part of the drink needs some tweaking is all." He said calmly and continued to slowly drink his liquor while the adventurers stared at him like he was a dead man walk- sitting.
"Oh? You've got balls kid. I'll give you that." Mama Mia grinned and crossed her arms.
"What do you think I should do to fix that problem of yours?"
Alvar placed the Fruit liquor down and thought for a bit. He placed his hands inside his pants pocket and sneakily used his storage to take out a notepad. He started writing something down and ripped the paper out of the notepad and handed it to Mama Mia.
"This should work," Alvar said and continued to calmly drink his fruit liquor.
Mama Mia stared at it and was pretty shocked.
"I have to say... From this recipe alone it seems you are pretty talented in making drinks... Not only did you instantly notice something off but you also manage to help the problem." Mama Mia went in thought and stared directly into Alvar's eyes.
(A/N: Sorry for the interruption, but does anyone know what the occupation is called for making alcholic and non alchoholic drinks? I wanted to use that word to make the top paragraph sound a bit better but googled didn't help at all XD)
"What do you think about working here? You can be a big help in the kitchen once we test out your skills." Mama Mia said with a grin.
She is a good judge of character and she could already hear the Valis that this 'kid' could bring in.

"Cali!, Can you please tell me why you ran away from the group like that?" Tiona Asked.
Cali sighed at the question simply because this girl kept asking the same thing for AN HOUR STRAIGHT.
"Can you stop asking that, please? Riveria already gave me a headache from her 'lecture'." She arrested her forehead lightly.
"Not my fault tho-" Tiona stopped seeing Cali's glare.
"It is since you made 'that' dare."
"And you accepted it~"
"Touche."
The Loki Familia are currently on the 8th floor and quickly ascending at that rate.
"Speaking of bets... What about we make anoth-"
"Not happening." Cali quickly interrupted Tiona.
'There's no way in hell I'm doing something like that again.' A shiver went down her spine.
Tiona couldn't help but pout at this and looked at Tione for help but was completely ignored.
Tione was to busy bothering Finn to even notice Tiona.
"Hey! Captian, why do you look so concerned?" Tione asked when she noticed her Captians expression.
"I am just thinking about this expedition and our limits so far. The main one being our equipment." Finn said clearly still in thought.
"Do any of you have any ideas on how to fix this matter?" Finn asked the rest of the group.
"I think the best course would be to asked the Heaphistus Familia for help on the next expedition. Our problem is to keep our equipment in good condition so having talented blacksmiths coming with us would be good." Riveria said
"That could work, but the only problem is if they could keep up with us or not. They are also not fully combat orianted so that means we should also protect them... We can also spent a few days going into the dungeon with a few groups from the Heaphistus Familia so that they could get used to how we work... We can talk to Loki about this and then come up with a suitable plan with Heaphistus afterwards." Cali said while the others nodded.
"It seems that your back to normal, Cali..." Finn said when something suddenly clicked in his mind.
"Wait... did you perhaps already meet this mystery man in that forest?" He asked curiously.
