"So, how's that woman's condition?" Amane asked as they stood outside Jena's room.

"It's still not good. She was in shock, and I found many scars and bruises on her body. But her fetus seems to be fine," Amanda explained.

"I'm going in then," Amane said, reaching for the doorknob, but Seren stopped her.

"I'll be the one to talk to her," Seren insisted.

Amane furrowed her brows. "We already accommodated your request to move her to a room like this. You know she should rot in jail, right? You use your veto once, so no."

"What makes you think she'll talk to you?" Seren retorted.

Amane ran a hand through her disheveled hair. "I don't intend to be gentle and hope that bitch opens up willingly."

"Let me try first, Mom. If I can't convince her in two days, then she's all yours," Seren persisted, her eyes reflecting a determination to prevent her mother from mistreating the pregnant woman.
