Chapter 9: Village Rebuilding (UPDATE)

After spending a few days in the other world and engaging with the villagers, Lucien grew more accustomed to his unique skill.

The villagers, too, seemed less terrified of him now, though his parents remained the exception.

Not only could Lucien see the status of people, but also the natural elements and structures within his village. For example, he could observe the water's condition:

[Water Information]

[Color: Crystal blue.]

[Temperature: 20°C.]

[Purity Rate: 98/100]

He could even assess details about individual houses, such as their length and degree of damage.

To level up, Lucien took on five daily quests, such as: interacting with five villagers, learning the villager's aspirations, increasing their loyalty or satisfaction rates, and fixing at least one aspect of the village.

Each of the finished daily quests would give Lucien a 20 satisfied rate and 100 Nexus Points. Nexus Point was used for the shop feature that would be opened in level 20 of Emblem Of Shire.

These daily tasks felt effortless for him, akin to a leisurely stroll while he conversed and acquainted himself with the villagers.

However, it was quite an ordeal for Seren. Lucien had requested Seren to accompany him for protection and as a walking encyclopedia.

Her mobile device remained connected to the internet, allowing her to play games and access social media.

While fixing village structures required knowledge Lucien lacked, Seren's mobile provided a convenient solution.

Of course, Lucien already tried to have a simpler solution such as attempting to have Seren edit village photos to repair the destroyed houses, but her level proved too low for such tasks.

While interacting with the villagers, Lucien learned about their skills and specialties, such as construction work, crafting, sewing, blacksmithing, and even combat prowess.

Making it easier to group villagers and use their skills to be efficient and then finish the territory quest.

Lucien needed to finish that quest as it was required to level up to the next level. The information on his screen is described below:

[Territory Quest Info]

[Rebuilt The Village: The Euclair village has been attacked by a monster and transmigrator from another world. As a Village Chief, you need to repair all of the damage.]

[Objection: fix the damaged houses, destroyed wall, and destroyed road.]

[Reward: 1000 Satisfied rate and 15.000 Nexus Points.]

While the territory quest gives him the right instruction on how he needs to reconstruct and develop the village.

Currently, he and Seren were giving instructions on which parts of the village needed fixing first. Following the order of the territory quest.

Most villagers lacked knowledge of construction, but with the village short on manpower, Lucien aimed to make them as effective as possible.

"As you can see, the houses have been destroyed by..." Lucien paused, opting not to mention the true culprits, his parents. "By a monster. Our priority will be repairing the houses."

Auden raised his hand among the crowd. "Shouldn't we prioritize fixing the wall first? It's crucial for our safety."

"I understand your concern," Lucien replied, "But the Crimson Night is in five months. Our homes, where we'll spend our lives, take precedence."

Gibson once explained the Crimson Night to him, describing it as:

"Three days of hellish torment, My Lord. During this time, monsters known as 'Abyssal Lupus' emerge, attacking anything in their path, including other monsters."

"If you're struck by one, you'll bleed continuously until you succumb to loss of blood."

Lucien listened attentively before questioning, "So why does it only occur once a year?"

Gibson explained, "The forest beyond this village is called 'Holy Aquarist Forest', where the Goddess Salacia resides."

He paused, then continued, "There's a 'Tree of Life' there that absorbs and purifies darkness and our sins. But by the end of the year, it becomes overwhelmed, leading to the Crimson Night."

"I see, so the Abyssal Lupus is born from darkness, and the tree can't handle human madness. Understood," Lucien nodded.

Returning to reality, Lucien noticed the crowd agreeing with him, as reflected in the system's notifications.

[The satisfaction rate has increased by +50.]

[The satisfaction rate has increased by +10.]

[The loyalty rate has increased by +5]

[The loyalty rate has increased by +5]

[The satisfaction has decreased by -5.]

'Hmm, it seems not everyone agrees with my opinion. Well, you can't please everyone,' Lucien mused.' and it's not even the most shocking announcement, yet.'

"Then, half of you will be tasked to gather the wood for the construction and the one responsible for supervision is..." Lucien paused, taking a deep breath before announcing, "My Father, Cassius Ashbourne."

"Behold, peasants! It is I, your illustrious supervisor!" boomed Cassius from behind the workers, striding in slow motion as if he were the star of his own action movie.

Basking in the attention, he relished every moment of his grand entrance.

With an eye-roll, Lucien watched his father's theatrics, while Seren remained engrossed in her phone game.

'This might be the biggest mistake I've ever made,' Lucien lamented silently, gazing up at the sky.

Cassius strutted towards the platform where Lucien and Seren stood, declaring, "All of you fuckers know what will happen if you become slackers and don't do your job properly, right?"

His grin revealed the glint of a gun, sending shivers down the workers' spines as they nodded anxiously.

"Now, form a neat and orderly line!" Cassius leaped from the platform and paced around, the workers obediently lining up.

Stopping in the middle of the line, he pointed his gun at the first person, barking, "You and all the men on the left, follow me!"

The workers marched into the forest behind Cassius, who seemed thoroughly pleased with his newfound role as a leader.

Then, notifications flashed on Lucien's screen:

[The satisfaction rate has decreased by -10.]

[The satisfaction rate has decreased by -20.]

[The loyalty rate has decreased by -10.]

[The loyalty rate has decreased by -5.]

And more notifications about dissatisfaction continued to flood in.

'Yup, a big mistake,' Lucien fully admitted to himself.

The reason Lucien chose his father was to preempt any potential chaos with Amane. Keeping them busy and separated was essential for maintaining peace in the village.

Despite his flaws, Cassius was undeniably disciplined, particularly when it came to overseeing others. If only he possessed a modicum of common sense, he would make the perfect supervisor.

'Well, every person has their flaws.'

'But, Alexa, isn't it bad that the satisfaction rate can be decreased like that?'

[Yes, but it can't decrease your path level. But will have an impact on their personal satisfaction rate and will affect your type of leadership.]

'How can I know my type of leadership based on villagers view on me?'

[That will be feature in the future that will show it! So do your best to level up!]

Lucien sighed and rolled his eyes. So everything feature locked after all. What a pain.
