Chapter 12: Journey Part-5

Pull…..

Sanim gently pulled his shirt, fearing Hina stealing Veru. After all, she was the only reason for her being into this state.

Veru veered around, though he couldn't get a clear look of her face, by some unusual connection, he could feel her. 'I hope she gets back to her usual self.'

Minimizing the touch between them, Veru grabbed the loaf and turned away, far from the couple. "Ahem….. I shouldn't interfere with your private time, so I would just be sitting there. Call me if you need anything."

Hina flustered, but before she could call his name, the distinctive sound of retreating footsteps rang through her ears clearly. Veru was already gone to the opposite side.

"Hose, don't you think Very is acting weird?"

Hose who was pleasurably eating the loaf replied. "What? Doesn't he always act like this? When did he ever have a conversation with us together? He already gets mad when we talk, and it looks pretty normal to me though."

"Maybe I am just being paranoid?" Hina turned towards Veru's direction and sighed, shaking away her thoughts.

Veru after walking far enough from Hina called out for Sanim. "Where are you?"

Pull…..

'When was she holding it? Didn't she leave it?'

Sanim holding the clothing sat down on the wooden floor and laid her head over Veru's shoulders.

Veru neither responded to it nor did he push her away. "Here, eat this"

Sanim shook her hair in disapproval.

'How can she eat this?' Veru felt a sharp pain in his chest.

"Veru, why are you eating this? Here, take this." Sanim handed him something elongated, its size, similar to a loaf, but it felt fluffy.

"What is this…." before he could say anything, Sanim plunged the loaf into his mouth.

Drip…..

A sweet viscous syrup overflowed his mouth, melting his tongue as the rich flavor of honey smeared all over his taste buds. "Eat it, I brought the entire packet of it."

Very gobbled down the entire loaf filled with sweet cream, and asked.

"For how long were you here?"

"I forgot the time. I asked maids to prepare everything we needed. I even brought money, we can live happily from now on."

Veru's eyes froze in the darkness, he realized what was that sharp pain lingering deep inside his chest. Guilt.

'Maybe, I can forgive myself.'

He smiled as if he had decided to move on. "Thank you."

Sanim giggled, "Veru praised Sanim. Shall I go back?"

"..."

Veru looked at her with his brows raised. He couldn't understand the black-haired girl. 'Why does she want to leave now? If she wanted to leave, shouldn't she already have missed the chance?'

"Why do you want to leave? If you wanted, you could have left a long time ago, wouldn't you!"

Sanim folded her hands around his neck, "I was just joking. I was just testing if Veru truly wants Sanim to stay with him forever."

He sighed in confusion.

'I can't understand her, no matter how hard I try.'

Veru looked at the direction where the two stood. "Shouldn't I give it to them?"

He closed his eyes, thinking of an excuse from where he could have gotten the supplies, but he found none.

Thinking for a while, he smiled as he marched towards the two, but in between was stopped by Sanim.

"Don't go, Sanim doesn't want her to know about us. She is scary."

"….."

'Why does she still act as she did before? Shouldn't she have gotten over with it?'

Veru recoiled his legs, thinking over the excuse once more. 'How would they react? Shouldn't I tell them now? What if Hose starts shouting, and leading to failure?'

His blood boiled in frustration as he could no longer think of the right way. He retreated his steps and asked Sanim. "Do you want me to let them know? I am not going to leave you this time. I promise"

Sanim trembled as she heard his question. "Sanim is scared….."

'I shouldn't be focusing on them right now. I need to learn how to avoid them.'

Patting her red silky smooth hair, he turned back to where he previously was.

The two sat on the wooden floor, with the girl resting her head on his shoulder, and he now had a somewhat faint smile on his face.

Klyne frowned at the blue screen floating around his eyes. He was in his cabin, with the heater switched on and his laptop next to him.

"What was he even thinking?"

He asked himself connecting the blue orb to his laptop.

"Will he ever act normal?"

Klyne sighed, remembering the memories with his twin.

'I miss those times, but this habit of his is too awful to forgive.'

*You see two kids playing together in a park. One is life, and the other is death. Whom will you play with?*

*If you don't play, you will lose something precious*

A distasteful expression crept upon his face. "This is still as awful as it used to be."

'Giving a situation, and forcing people to choose between them. It is still clear to me as a crystal, ' he smiled at the box. 'He was truly the most despicable person I could ever get to know of.'

His lips moved, as the blue box turned golden.

'Even the answer is the same.'

*You have unlocked the first lesson*

*Please read the instructions carefully*

A notification came on his laptop, as he clicked on it.

[The language is ethereal]

Klyne read the entire notification, in it was the process to arrange the scribbles.

"So, every last word is the same as the first, and every second word is the same as the last."

Scratching his head, Klyne cursed Iverson inwardly.

'Couldn't he just make a translator?'

Klyne could understand nothing from the message. "It is a bunch of random scribbles. Uhhhh…. Couldn't he just complete it if he knew how to solve it?"

After reading the message for hours, he understood what it meant.

"So, first replace the second with the last. And then replacing the last with the first decodes the first layer."

He wrote down the scriptures on a sheet of paper, with each time making mistakes and throwing the sheet into the dustbin at the corner.

"Uhh….. It's so hard."

…..

…..

…..

Now that the dustbin was full, and could no more accept any crumbled sheet, Klyne managed to write down the message. It showed a shocking resemblance to the previous message.

"They look almost alike. It is as if the difference between them is negligible!"

*You have completed the first lesson*

*Your understanding increased slightly*

Klyne looked at the time. "It is past midnight"

Stretching his hands and with a yawn, he unfastened the buttons of his white shirt and jumped onto the bed.

"Just where is he?"

Klyne closed his eyes, falling into the void of the everlasting darkness.

His body felt light, his soul started escaping as if it would tear apart his chest in order to escape the prison made out of bones and muscles.

Klyne opened his eyes in a hurry, as he found himself in a playground. The playground was familiar to his, as his widened eyes froze seeing a boy and a girl playing on a seesaw.

Two figures stood right beside the two. A Grim Reaper, and an Angel.

The two unaware of the vestiges right next to them continued to play, not caring about anything.

*Whom will you choose you to play with?*

'What?'

A familiar box appeared in front of him, but instead of being blue, it was blackish red.

*Please select the person you are willing to play*

*Something precious will be taken from you if you don't choose anyone*

Klyne's mind was in a mess. 'Did he really make it?'

The dream of Iverson which he had been telling him since childhood. Klyne could still clearly remember those words.

"Hey! Klyne, what if we could change, and interact with people's subconscious mind while they fall asleep. Won't it be an exciting experiment?"

Klyne turned around, everything was exactly the same it used to be. There were two swings on his left; a tall slide right next to him; a merry go round on his left with a monkey bar next to it, and two seesaws. One empty, while another had the kids on it.

"This is where we first met."

Klyne mumbled as he turned backward. A loud sound that wasn't coming before, rang through his head. A smile cropped on his face.

A fence, with a really noisy generator next to it, pumping out black exhaust out of it, covering the view beyond the fence.

He went near the swing and sat onto it. His body was changed, he no longer was an adult, but a child.

"I can play with both... but….."

He moved the swing backward as he started swinging.
