Chapter 27: Love is not a choice
We all fall in love at some point of our lives. We sometimes confuse our lust as our love, we sometimes fall in love and its one-sided, and a universal truth, we hurt ourselves in love too. But one in a million times, love is like a fairy tale. Sometimes, we just know that "this goddamn person is the one I want to hurt myself for". We know, that they are worth it. We should not confuse it with love at first sight.
For Adria, love was not a choice. Not even that she gave a damn about emotions. She had feelings, but she negleacted them, all her life she did that, because she thought love is a waste of time. Why would someone risk their whole existence just to stay with some other human?
But still, when she saw Ditto, her heart fluttered, she smiled like a lunatic to herself, kept imagining scenarios about themselves in her mind, and she herself could not see it happening. For the first time she felt, that Ditto happened to her life, rest was just some bloody video playing itself on loop. For the first time she knew what she lacked in her life. Love was what she wanted to happen to her, not some bloody murders.
She didn't knew what she wanted to do with Ditto. She wanted to see her smile, see her happy no matter what. She wanted to fight the whole world just for her. Many men were on there knees, for Adria, and just a little hint was all they needed. She didn't lacked choices. But we know, love is not a choice. It happens, it hits us hard and we do everything we can for our loved ones. Why wouldn't we, love is such a beautiful feeling.
When someone is in love, you won't see much difference between them and a mad person. They have their reason to everything. With justification. There is a saying, "Everything is fair in love and war." Is it? Maybe it is.
Look at Adria. Her world was revolving around herself, her brother, and her father. But today? Its Ditto. It Ditto, Ditto, and only Ditto. Her father and her brother aren't even the part of her priority list. Till yesterday, she agreed to everything her father said, was his obedient pawn. Rebel, but obedient. But today, she wants her father to forget her. She wants him to no longer have her memory so that she can spend time with the love of her life at some small corner of this world. She wants her to smile for her, she wants to take away her pain, she wants to complete her and she wants a future with Ditto, of which her so called family isn't a part. Crazy, isn't it?
Ralph (or Adria, they both are same person) was in deep thought. One thing was sure that his father will stop him. So it was just a waste of time to talk to him. He began to compile a letter for his dad. I'll tell about the letter later. Right now, to Ditto's rescue.
Ditto was sitting outside of her university, and was pacing around restlessly. She had a premonition that something is going to happen today. As if, her whole life was going to change starting on from today. Last time she felt like this, was the time when Shredder killed her whole family and she lost her everything. This feeling marked the beginning of her nightmare. She was too scared. Too scared to lose Adria, someone who popped up in her life out of the blue and made her think about future, and she was afraid that she won't be able to meet her Gramps. Fear, gripping her whole existence, made her body cold and rigid. Suddenly, a hand, firm but soft; landed on her shoulder. Ditto woke up from her trance. Wet with sweat, she turned around, just to get hugged tightly and gain her heat back. Her racing heart began to calm down, as a sweet minty scent went up her nose.
When Adria saw Ditto, the sight took her breathe away. Her love, clad in a blue sundress, paired with denim sneaker and jacket. She felt something tugging her heart. Smiling to herself she went towards her, and suddenly noticed Ditto's knitted brows as she was in deep thought. She knew Ditto was worried. "Don't worry my queen, I will do everything I can to take your worry away." And she put her hands on her shoulder, and when she turned, Adria hugged Ditto. She felt everything, when Ditto was surprised by the sudden hug, then Adria felt Ditto loosening up, and then her body getting soft. Too scared by the changes, she loosed her arms snuggling her, to look at her flawless face. Her eyes misty, ears red and eyelids fluttering. She was crying, again. Suddenly Ditto hugged Adria, too. As if she was asking, why are you so late.
Wordlessly, Adria took Ditto's hand, and led her towards her bike. They were both lost in thought. When they both hopped up on bike, neither knew. Adria shifted her focus on road, and drove off.
Throughout the ride, Ditto kept hugging Adria from behind, as if she was worried that her saviour will disappear. This made Adria's heart fill with warmth. Someone may say that what she will do next will be crazy, but why would she want to miss this? For her dad who doesn't loves her? For this world who doesn't even care whether she is alive or dead?
Soon, they reached their destination. Now Ditto was out of her thought. She noticed how possessively she was hugging Adria. Her face turned red and ears began to burn. "Ahh, so embarrasing", she thought to herself.
Adria held her hand, and they were walking towards an ice-cream parlor. She bought a tub of chocolate ice-cream for both of them, and held her hands, they walked towards the bench which was facing the river.
Adria didn't had much time to plan a perfect date, nor it was the time to plan for date. She had to do something for both of them or else they'll be dead. So, she just let the trip plan itself. When she met Adria, she couldn't think of a place better than a park. A park, where they will hold hands, just as she saw in her dreams a many times. There they were. Now, she just wanted to hold her and talk about future.
A future, that they will share together.
