Chapter 40: MEETING THE ANGELOS
When they reached the front gate, Danny opened up the car door for Amy. Amy said giving him a small smile,"Thank You." When Amy looked at the house, she instantly got a homey feeling. The house was painted from the outside in a warm looking light blue shade. She followed Danny closely inside the big house.
Halfway through the hall, she heard a voice calling Danny. They both turned around to see a man who resembled Archie a lot. Same silvery bluish eyes and black hairs. Amy presumed him to be Archie's dad and well, she was right. Christian Angelo, Archie's dad asked Danny,"Who have you brought Danny?" Danny replied,"Elder Mr. Angelo wanted to meet Ms. Black and so he arranged a meeting." Christian said looking at Amy,"Oh, I see. So you are Amy Black."
Amy smiled and said,"Yes Mr. Angelo, I am. It's a pleasure to meet you." He hummed then turned to Danny and said,"You can go about, do your work Danny. I have something to talk to Ms. Black here and don't worry after our talk I'll take her to father." Danny just nodded and left. Christian said,"Please, Ms. Black, just a minute in my office."
She was a nervous wreck but hid it and followed him to his office. After taking a seat across him she racked through her brain to find something to say but before she could even think of something, Christian said, startling her,"How much money?" She replied, still shocked,"Wait what? What money?" He said in a casual tone,"You must be with my son because of his money of course." Amy replied,"Hold up a second there. What in the bloody hell made you think that? We both love each other and that is the only reason we are together."
Christian rubbed his forehead with his index finger and thumb and said,"What did he even see in you? I have girls lined up for him but just to infuriate me, he'll do whatever he want." Amy said, more calmly than before,"Excuse me Mr. Angelo. Please forgive me for my language but Archie is an adult and he can do whatever in the bloody hell he wants to. He has every right to do so. He has the right to choose what he wants to do and who he wants to be with and if you would let him do just that and let him make his own decisions then maybe he'll be more open to you. Just give him some time and freedom. Dont try to hold him back or it'll only make things worse and you both will grow apart further more."
Christian was gonna reply something but before he could, the office door burst open. A man dressed in a dark grey pantsuit came in. His hair had turned grey due to aging and his eyes were the same silvery shade and wrinkles were quite prominent on his face. Amy instantly recognized him as Archie's grandpa and stood up from her seat. Frank, Archie's grandpa, said in a frustrated tone,"This is just not fair christian. This is so not done. You can't hold up my guests in your office. Don't forget, I'm still your father."
He then turned to Amy who instantly said,"A very good evening Mr. Angelo. It's a pleasure to finally meet you." Frank smiled and said,"You can just call me grandpa dear and the pleasure is all mine. Come with me, Kate and Stella are so eager to meet you." She nodded once and followed him outside Christian's office and to a living room. On the way Frank said,"I hope you don't mind my son's words. He acts as a lunatic sometimes." Amy giggled and said,"Not at all grandpa." Frank smiled in her direction which Amy returned gladly. They finally reached the living room, where Kate, Archie's grandma and Stella, Archie's mom were waiting for her.
Archie's grandma had hazel brown eyes and her skin colour was the same as Archie and his father. Age had its effects on her too. On the other hand Archie's mother, Stella, had maintained her beauty. She looked way more younger than what her real age must be. Stella had dark brown eyes, almost black and shoulder length, groomed, black hair. Her skin looked paler than usual but maybe that was because of the makeup.
Stella got up from where she was sitting on the sofa and came to hug her. At first, Amy was surprised but then hugged her back. Stella said,"I'm so glad I finally got to meet you. You really are so beautiful Amy." Amy blushed and replied,"Not more than you Mrs. Angelo." Stella said, breaking the hug,"Oh sweetie! I'm aging now" she laughed then continued,"Please call me Stella. Mrs. Angelo is too formal." Amy grinned saying,"Sure, Stella."
Next Kate hugged her and said,"Before you go on and call me Mrs. Angelo too, granny, it is for you and you really are very pretty Amy. How come you choose our Archie?" They broke the hug and Amy giggled," Thank you granny."
They all sat and talked like that was not the first time they met each other. Amy was treated like a family member and at that moment Amy really couldn't ask for anything more. Amy got to know many embarrassing stories of Archie which she made a mental note to tell all her friends and tease him later. Kate and Stella got up and were leaving to prepare the table for dinner when Amy also got up and said,"Lemme help you."
Frank interrupted and said,"Oh no no!! I still have lots to talk about." Kate and Stella laughed and said,"Yeah Amy, you stay here." When Kate and Stella left the living room, Frank turned towards Amy and said,"Did Archie tell you about Nathan?" Amy furrowed her brows in confusion and asked,"Nathan? Who is he?" Frank sighed and said,"Ah! I guess he didn't tell you then. It's a touching subject to him, I can understand. It's ok, I will. Nathan was Archie's elder brother who died at a very young age. Archie was devastated to loose him. I still remember those days." And he sighed again. Amy replied," Oh! I didn't knew. I had no idea. I'm so sorry for your loss." Frank dismissed the chat with a wave of his hand.
