Chapter 1: prologue
In many many years there is a tradition that runs by the family of Miller's and Villanueva's, that once they got a daughter and a son their families will force them to get married in early age. The father of the Miller family will choose in Villanueva's daughter/son on which one will get married, and the same as for the father of the villanueva family he will pick one of the daughter/son in the Miller family and they will let them live in one roof so they can get together. If the boy/girl fell in love with the other people and not the one that their families chose it will cause death penalty or a punishment that they will never forget.
~Febuary 2002~
"Kristine will you come in here please?" a little girl sneaked out the from the kitchen door. She was about eight with large brown eyes and a curious smile.
"Yes Papa?" with her father was a tall imposing Japanese woman with long black hair and piercing eyes and with her was a boy about her age looking at her curiosity and interest. She wore a long black kimono that was long sleeved and loose. The boy wore a green jacket with black pants. His hair was messy dark blue and everything was hidden under a hat.
"This is Mikasari Miller and her son Andrew. Mikasa is a very old friend of the family. She's a Baker in a pastry shop. When you and andrew are of age, he will be your husband some day,"
"What?" she looked at him. Marriage? Already?
"He is going to be your husband. Mikasa's husband and I discussed it years ago when we were working in the mines that if we had children of the opposite gender, they would marry. I used my share of the gold we mined for the restaurant and he opened a laundry. However, because he died, Mikasa needs someone to help her keep everything he worked for so from this moment onward, you two are promised so we can keep our lives,"
"Yes Papa,"Mikasa spoke to Andrew in Japanese . He nodded. He went to her. He took her hands and for the first time, she had a clear look of his face. He was a very handsome, She took a step back but he held her hands firm.She swallowed something in her throat.
"I am happy I'm going to be your wife," since it was settled, the parents made the children leave so they could discuss business. Both were quiet for awhile. Kristine had no idea what do say or do! He looked at her expectantly, "Umm...do you speak...English?" Andrew looked at her, "I mean its okay that you don't! I'm sorry; Andrew...that's a cool name..." he still just stared.
"Yes, I speak English,"
"Why didn't you say anything? That was quite rude!"
"I just wanted to see how long it would take for you to break,"
"You cad!" she glared at him. From that moment on, she was stuck with this strange boy who was soon to be her husband...
