Chapter 69: The deal

Two years ago she dropped out of college and started working here, providing for her family. Her father was kicked out of his job and every job he worked on because he always showed up drunk.

Having no income forced them to find a job so they could have money to pay the rent and buy food. Her mother is sick and can't work and her sister was too young to work so she was left with no choice but to drop school and get a full-time job.

Hearing the knock on the door, Iris quickly zipped her dress and went to open it.

"Good evening, Iris." It was Kevin, the owner of the bar.

"Good evening, Kevin. I'm almost ready." Iris said as she put on her shoes and picked up her face mask.

"No, I came to tell you that the mayor is here and he asked to see you," Kevin said, helping her to tie her mask.

Iris turned around looking at him confused."Why does the mayor want to see me?" She asked.
