Chapter 2: Lucky Clover

"Here please take this and the bathroom is right over there. Please? My grandmother is really strict when it comes to cleanliness in this house. I live with her here. " The house is made out of the best and expensive materials that is why her grandmother Romelia was strict. Although, they are very welcoming of Fae. Anna welcomed Fae since Anna is a loyal friend of Dylan. Anna would always do anything for Dylan if he needs help. She is his true friend. They are the best of friends. She offered Fae her fluffy gold slippers and pointed her finger towards the bathroom for Fae to help herself. Fae tiptoed on those glossy floors towards the bathroom as she didn't want to mark any dirt on the floor with her dirty foot. She was embarrassed at the moment, but she can get through it.

"Why did you bring her, here? She's so weird. Who is she?" Ana told Dylan while she brings out a grossed out smile.

"Yeah. It's fun to get along with a stranger sometimes. She's cool," Dylan answered Anna. Anna rolled her eyes and shook her head.

"You're crazy. You never change, Dylan. What's with you and girls?" Anna said as if Dylan was always into schemes about girls.

"Hey, it's not like what you think. Like honestly. I'm not... As bad as you think, Anna" Dylan was defensive about it. Girls always chase him and they always stick around Dylan. Often times, Anna would misinterpret Dylan as a womanizer.

"Yeah, right. That's why you make a lot of girls cry because you don't know how bad it is," Anna's jokes were half meant. She thinks that Dylan is just too likable and that he was a gentle guy but there was not a time when he actually was serious about a girl. He would be a gentle person towards them and the girls would misinterpret it as courting, but the truth he was just being nice.

He was always chased. Whenever he turns them down, these girls would go through difficult times. This is what Anna meant that she makes a lot of girls cry and thinks that it gets bad, although Dylan doesn't have any bad intentions.

"I'm telling you. I am just being nice. Girls always come to me and most of the time their intention is different. I want to be friends that's all and they misinterpret things. "

"Whatever, Dylan. Think about it. I really think that it's better if you're not too nice to them. You're just making them fall for you and hurt them every time. If they see you have a bad side, then maybe they'll like you less. Stop being this perfect dream guy," Anna laughed about it.

"Sheez. That's ridiculous. You make it complicated again, Anna. Don't make this hard for me. It's always better to be nice no matter what," Dylan started his argument. After a while, Fae was done.

"Umm... So... I'm really sorry about the mess I made. Thanks for lending me this nice slippers. It's really pretty," Fae approached them and joined the conversation.

"That's fine. Don't worry about it. Let's go outside! I will show you my grandmother's sister's garden. She is living with us in here. She used to take care of the garden, but now that she isn't healthy to take care of it anymore, my mother and I took over. It is the most interesting part of this mansion. You guys should've let the day pass without seeing it. It is beautiful. Come with me," Anna was enthusiastic when she wanted to show them the garden in her backlot.

At the far backlot, there is a huge hedge maze of the garden. It is amazing and pleasant to the eyes. It was preserved and the flowers and plants were well grown. All along it was there at the back of this huge mansion. The outsiders and most people in the town do not know about it.

Fae couldn't believe what she saw. All of the clover planted on the grass has four leaves. They say that four-leaf clovers are very rare and if you see one, it is a sign of luck. Fae hasn't seen a four-leaf clover in her lifetime. Dylan, on the other hand, was amused by the different kinds of flowers that were there. There were types of flowers that he hasn't seen in his life, too. All kinds of flowers you could think of can be seen in this garden. It is a mystery that all of them could grow in the soil in the backyard, though the seasons.

"You're lucky to have this kind of garden in your back yard, Anna. All kinds of flowers she can smell every day, You can breathe the same air as those plants and fresh fruit-bearing trees," Fae said to Anna.

"I know. Whenever I am sad. I just go here to hang out. It calms me down, and gives me joy," Anna said.

Fae walks along a path. She can imagine herself walking barefoot with her feet touching the soft soil of the ground. She liked and longed the idea. She knows it will bring her comfort and make her the happiest. She wanted to remove the slippers form Anna, and run along with the beautiful garden. It was a paradise.

While Fae was still amused by the wonderful garden and walking around. Anna and Dylan got tired and rested for a little bit. They sat on a finely crafted wood bench near them.

"I hope she gets well... I miss my grand-aunt being a little healthy like she was, She was already sick, but as time passes by she is getting weak. I had fun with her while she was stronger," Anna said to Dylan. She was referring to her grand-aunt, Caly.

"How is she, today?" Dylan asked.

"She is just resting at her room,"

"Want to go check on her?" Dylan asked.

"Sure. We can,"

Dylan and Anna went inside the house to see Mrs. Caly, her Grandaunt. She barely talks. She was rickety and was a little bit confused. The illness was acquired while she was growing up, due to a limited exposure from the sun. She is a little talker, so she hasn't been telling stories about her past. Dylan and Anna went inside to check on Mrs. Caly. After a small talk between them. Mrs. Caly suddenly talked, "You have to take care of her,"

Dylan was all confused. He didn't understand what Mrs. Caly meant. Nevertheless, he thought that Mrs. Caly was referring to Anna who was with him at the moment. He explained to Mrs. Caly that he was not in a relationship with Anna. Mrs. Caly was not pertaining to Anna, but to a different girl. Dylan did not realize this. Mrs. Caly fell asleep and didn't have the chance to which girl she is pertaining to.

It became quiet when Mrs. Caly fell asleep. Dylan internalized his thoughts for a bit. Dylan looked and watched over outside through the big window. The view of the garden was visible through the windows of the mansion. Mrs. Caly could always see the garden and breathe a little bit of fresh air. He saw how wonderful it is from this point of view. He remembered Fae that she was still in the garden. He was worried that Fae, would do stupid things knowing her as being a weirdo. He tried to look for her but he cannot see her.

"Where is she? "

" Who?"

"Fae. I can't see her from here"

"She was just walking around the garden earlier," Anna said.

"This garden is big and almost like a forest. There's a huge maze out there. What if she went inside and got lost? She is not supposed to lurk around. It is getting dark too. I'll go ahead and check on her real quick,"

"Alright, I will stay here. Go find her quick. Dinner will be ready in a few minutes. I'll check on my mom. Don't take long or else the food would get cold and she'll be angry," Anna said.

Dylan rushed outside to find Fae. Fae was walking around the garden. As she walked and follow along the path it leads to a huge hedge maze. His adventurous mind thought of going inside and she did. She got lost inside, but she was having fun. She finally reached the middle part of the maze. It looks like it is the finish line and the rendezvous of the hedge maze. There was not much to see there. All that's in there is just a very old and brick wall built at the center. It was a little bit ruined on the corners but it was very well preserved. She saw a metal attached on the surface of the brownish brick wall covered in plants. There was a hole in the middle of the metal. Around it, looks like a dial gear puzzle where you have to move to unlock it. She was bewildered because there was nothing to unlock besides a flat brick wall. She touched it with her hands and brush off the dust. She was a bit shocked and it attracted her since the hole is the same size as. Her locket and the dial exactly resembles what's on the old locket that she was wearing. The locket has also a dial and has its own secret to unlocks it. Inside the locket, there is just a small sculpted clover. Her mother told her to never touch what's inside it because it will lose its magic if she did. She never touched it, although she thought that it's not true, and that's just a way of her mother telling her to take care of it. It was given by her mother as a gift. She treasured this gift and she always wore it. It was her favorite thing in the world.

While playing with it. She was curious about the dial on the wall. She pressed her locket into the hole and dialed the code of her locket to open for fun. She closed her eyes and said something inside her head because she always does this when she is opening her locket. As told by her mother. Unexpectedly, something unusual happened. The ground suddenly moved and changed its formation, she can hardly get out of her position. She could not see but dusts around her. She had no clue of what's happening.

On the other hand, while searching for Fae, Dylan saw her footsteps and followed it. In the end, Dylan barely saw her from afar, it was a different atmosphere. She was covered in the dust of all colors all around. It is as if, she was in a hurricane.

"No! Fae!" Dylan's instinct was to get her and save her. So he ran towards Fae. He thought he could pull her away but he was also caught by it. Dylan and Fae, unconsciously, were brought to a complete and unfamiliar and peculiar place. They haven't moved a bit in shock.

It was day time in there, but it was not bright and no sunlight. There is no sun visible in the sky. It was gloomy but not dark as night. There's only a little bit of light coming from above but enough to make a day. On the ground, there were tiny specks of light that help to make the day a little bright. These creatures are the only creatures recognizable for them. From afar, these specks of light look like fireflies. Other than that, Every creature and Everything they see is out of the world. There were also creatures of a different kind. There was freedom in this place.

After the chaos, they are bewildered. However, they found a pleasant place in paradise. More beautiful than they have ever seen in their entire lives. For them, it was only a dream. They thought they were dead. They are still bewildered, but they believed that it's for real. They still feel their bodies, their senses, pain, and all the mixed emotions.
