Chapter 9: Chapter 9: First Fight

In the dimly lit entrance of the abandoned building, Yuji and Nobara exchanged glances, the anticipation of their first joint mission hanging in the air like a tangible energy.

Nobara, casually twirling her hammer, broke the silence: "So, Itadori, ready to dance with some curses?"

Yuji, matching her nonchalant demeanour, grinned: "Dance? I was thinking more of a rock concert. You know, beats and curses."

Nobara chuckled, "Well, just don't steal the show with your charm. We're here to take care of business."

As they ventured deeper into the building, the atmosphere grew more ominous. Yuji, trying to lighten the mood, pointed at a dusty chandelier: "Bet you a snack I can hit that with a cursed punch."

Nobara, intrigued, replied, "You're on, Itadori. But I get to choose the snack."

The banter continued as they approached the heart of the abandoned building. Yuji, with a sly smile, asked, "Any tips for a cursed building brawl, Nobara?"

Nobara, hammer resting on her shoulder, smirked: "Don't get hit. Simple, right?"

Yuji laughed, "Easy for you to say. I'll just stick to my rock concert moves."

Nobara turned to Yuji, her expression determined. "Alright, Itadori, we'll cover more ground if we split up. You take the bottom floor, and I'll start from the top. We'll meet in the middle."

Yuji, nodding in agreement, responded, "Got it, Nobara. Let's tag-team these curses."

As they prepared to part ways, Nobara added with a smirk, "And remember, no getting distracted by any creepy chandeliers or cursed dance moves, okay?"

Yuji chuckled, "Deal. But I can't promise I won't find some cursed snacks lying around."

Nobara, rolling her eyes, said, "Focus, Itadori. We're here to exorcise curses, not snack on them."

With a shared laugh, they began their separate journeys through the building. Yuji descended the creaky stairs to the lower floor.

In the dilapidated building's dimly lit depths, Yuji faced off against the curse, its ghastly presence accentuated by the flickering light. Despite the eerie atmosphere, Yuji, ever the irreverent soul, couldn't resist injecting a dose of humour into the situation.

As the curse materialized, Yuji struck a dramatic pose, attempting to channel his inner hero. However, the old floorboards beneath him creaked loudly, shattering the illusion. Yuji, with a sheepish grin, muttered to himself, "Well, that's the element of surprise gone."

The curse, unfazed by Yuji's failed attempt at a stealthy approach, let out an unsettling growl. Yuji, undeterred, quipped, "Is that your battle cry? I've heard scarier bedtime stories."

The curse, seemingly offended, lunged at Yuji with spectral claws. Dodging the attack, Yuji performed an exaggerated dance, pretending to be a matador: "Ole! You really need to work on your aim, buddy."

The battle continued a chaotic blend of curses and comedic commentary. Yuji, with each strike, delivered one-liners that would make even the most serious sorcerer chuckle. "Is this your first haunting? Because it's not very impressive," he teased.

In the midst of the clash, Yuji's mind raced with absurd thoughts: Who knew fighting curses could be a stand-up routine? Maybe I should add this to my resume.

As the battle reached its climax, the curse unleashed a particularly eerie howl. Yuji, pretending to be scared, dramatically clutched his heart: "Oh no, the horror! I might faint from the spookiness."

The curse, now thoroughly confused by Yuji's antics, hesitated. Seizing the moment, Yuji delivered a decisive blow, adding insult to injury: "You really need to get a grip on your scary persona. I've seen scarier dust bunnies."

To his surprise, the curse managed to evade the strike, showcasing an agility that defied its spectral appearance. Yuji, undeterred, quipped, "Well, aren't you a nimble one? Maybe you've been practising cursed gymnastics in your free time."

The curse, enraged and determined, retaliated with renewed vigour. As they exchanged blows, the once-comedic atmosphere transformed into a serious dance of steel and cursed energy. Yet, Yuji couldn't resist sprinkling his relentless banter into the intense combat.

"Is this your signature move? The ghostly tango?" he joked, sidestepping a flurry of spectral attacks.

As the battle unfolded, Yuji noticed a subtle change in the curse's tactics. It seemed to adapt to his movements, countering with unexpected manoeuvres. In the midst of the clash, Yuji's inner monologue shifted: This curse is no laughing matter. Better focus. And it seems like someone is watching me. It's better to defeat this curse quickly.

Adjusting his approach, Yuji analyzed the curse's patterns with a newfound seriousness. The once theatrical battle evolved into a strategic dance.

With a well-timed strike, Yuji finally pierced the curse's abdomen with the cursed blade Gojo gave him, dispersing its malevolent energy.

With the curse defeated, Yuji took a dramatic bow, pretending to address an imaginary audience: "Thank you, thank you! I'll be here all week—hopefully without any more cursed hecklers."

Observing Yuji's intense battle from a distance, Gojo Satoru turned to Megumi Fushiguro with a raised eyebrow. The rapid and precise movements displayed by Yuji had piqued Gojo's interest.

"Hey, Megumi, does Itadori have a background in martial arts?" Gojo inquired, his eyes fixed on the ongoing clash.

Megumi, also watching the battle unfold, replied, "Not that I'm aware of, Gojo sensei. He's more of a raw talent with physical abilities."

Gojo, a hint of curiosity in his eyes, continued to observe Yuji's fight with his six eyes."Raw talent, huh? His movements are surprisingly calculated for someone without formal training. Interesting."

As Yuji continued to face off against the curse, Gojo's analytical gaze lingered on the intricate dance of combat. The connection between Yuji's raw prowess and the strategic execution of his attacks sparked Gojo's interest further.

Megumi, sensing Gojo's curiosity, added, "He did mention some experience with physical activities, but I doubt it's anything formal. Itadori is more of a go-with-the-flow kind of guy."

Gojo, nodding thoughtfully, replied, "Well, whatever he's doing, it's working. That's some impressive combat instinct. We might have an interesting asset on our hands."

"Now let's see how Nobara is doing," Gojo said as he focused on Nobara with his six-eye ability.
